Stupid question here

How do I select which car I'd like to use by discipline??

When I select rally I seem to end up with a BMW Z4 with no choice of how to change it

Any ideas how i change the default car??

Most often, when you click to get into a race, it's in progress. When that happens, whatever vehicle you ran the last time you were in that kind of race is the one you get. No choice.

If you join a session that hasn't started, when it starts, you get to choose from the list of those vehicles. You don't have a lot of time, but easily enough to navigate to one you know you want to drive.

Simply get into a rally that is just forming.

JAM SESSION
CUSTOM MATCH

Look closely at the list of races. You'll see the ones that are in race 2 of 4 for example. Look for 1 of 3 or 1 of something. If it has started, leave and look for another.

btw, that's not a stupid question

It's stupid that the game logic doesn't let you decide what car you want to drive before it slaps you into "spectator" mode in a race series in progress. That's where you go 90% of the time. It could easily allow you the option while you're spectating.
