View Full Version : PS3 Problem

I just got a used PS3, just for GT5. It had 2 users already on it. I created a new user for me and then installed the game. Everything was fine. I played for a couple of days and was up to level 13 last night. I did the last few beginner races and noticed it took a while to leave the tracks, while saving the game. Then when I won the last one, the game sat there for about 10 minutes with the little clock/saving thing on. It would not go away. Then I hit the controller's P button and the screen went dim and another clock started spinning in the upper right corner. They never went away.

So after about 20 minutes, I just pulled the plug. When I restarted the game, it gave an error: You must have at least 32 MB of free space, go delete stuff on your hard drive, or something like that.

So I deleted everything that was left from the previous owner, but it wasn't much. Maybe 20 Gigs. And I deleted the other 2 users altogether.

Still getting that error.

Should I just reformat and reinstall? Can I save my game data somehow? Is the PS3 faulty? I can return it, but only by January 4.

Thanks for any advice.

I'd say try to reformat and reinstall. I wouldnt worry about saving your data, i think it is possible to back up and restore but maybe not worth the hassle as your data may be corrupt somehow and part of the problem... i dont think the ps3 is defective, sounds like an issue of running out of space... give the reformat a try. good luck.

I saved the data to a flash drive, then reformatted. Reinstalled and the game ran fine. I reloaded the game data and the problem came back. So I guess I'll just have to start over. Not a big deal.
