Post all Dropbox related thoughts, suggestions and other questions here.

To join the NoGripRacing Dropbox folder for access to setups, replays and other useful GTR2 things sign up for a Dropbox account then PM me the e-mail address you signed up with so i can invite you to share the folder.

A few pointers:

If you need to add a large file to share with a specific member please login to Dropbox and create your own shared folder, then invite the other person to join it. If you don't all the members of our Dropbox will recieve the file, which is a problem for ones with a limited download speed or capped monthly allowance. If your not sure whether your file is suitable for the NGR Dropbox post up a question here and we will let you know. Thanks.

I will add other important info to this post as it becomes clear so we all get the most out of this idea.

It might be an idea guys when posting setups in the box if we all named them in a certain way to include car, track, race or qual and who made it. (LamboBarcQualSteve)This would help in selecting a setup, instead of seeing just a bunch of times etc.

Also without a trackname if they were put by mistake into the wrong folder no one could tell be looking at file.

Any thoughts on a naming format?

I agree with Steve we must rename our setups in order to show the track name before uploading to dropbox. That way its almost impossible to get things wrong

I always put my initials so i know its mine, R for race and Q for qualify a clue as to what car its for and a clue to the track its for and if that leaves enough room the best time i got with it.

I suggest two setup folders one for tracks and one for cars, it can take ages looking through track folders to find a setup for a certain car. Most setups for a certain car dont need alot of changes to use on another track plus if the car setuos have track names in them we can take what we think will suit.

Jack is sending carpack, am taking it straight out Greg

GearChange
12 January 11, 21:23
but everyone on nogripracing dropbox will get it to, this isnt really the place to exchange files this way(use filefront or something). I have limits on the amount i can download in a month and im sure the likes of berger doesnt want his internet clogged up with huge car pack downloads.

you can use your own dropbox? not the nogripracing one

GearChange
12 January 11, 21:30
and it would of been so much quicker as 1 file in rar format

Sorry for that guys....I'm new to this dropbox thing...if Steve can get what he wants perhaps we can delete the pack??

SteveO
12 January 11, 21:35
I am taking it straight out Jack. My fault, I thought it would be ok as it wasn't staying on here, just was easy for you to send.

SteveO
12 January 11, 21:38
As I understand Greg, it stays on dropbox server. Once I remove it it is gone. No download limits to anyone will be affected. The only thing you will see are notifications while it is downloading but you can turn that off.

Jack Stand
12 January 11, 21:42
Ya I thought it sat on a server too....
do I need to do anything from my end

GearChange
12 January 11, 21:45
everyone that has dropbox on will download all them files automatically, like i was, then when you remove them they will have them removed, so the download usage will count for whatever size the carpack is for anyone that has it on.

why didnt u use your own dropbox, you can share folders with whoever you like?

SteveO
12 January 11, 21:47
It does stay on the server, I had a look earlier. We get a 2 gb limit but only on the files that are in the box and it does not include any that have been deleted. I apologise Greg and will not do it again. I will work out how to add to my own drop box

SteveO
12 January 11, 21:49
PM Greg or this thread will become clogged with this.

File stopped.

For those who don't know how to share their own dropbox, it is quite straightforward as I have just found out. Right click, add new folder, name it and then invite somone to share.

Whoever thought of this dropbox idea will make a mint. We need to get our heads together and do one called ' Letterbox' :)

i wasnt on about the dropbox usage limit, i was on about my download limit that my internet service provider shoves up my a*s

lets just hope you can rebuild your car pack after this

Who are you with Greg? I don't know if you get virgin cable in your area but they are very good and worth a look at. We never have any problems. Running 5 PC's in the house, and the kids downloading loads of music and films etc and never any problems with limits. I think we pay about £25 a month that that is with phone line and unlimted calls as well.

GearChange
13 January 11, 01:14
i pay £25.50 just for my internet from Aquiss who provide a A1 service with a price to match but restricted to 30gb a month which isnt much when you are downloading flims/music etc(+ car packs :p ), i also pay £30 a month for unlimited calls

virgin is not in my area and i doubt, if it were available i would be happy with it as i have heard from lots of friends about problems they have, maybe you are one of the lucky ones who lives in an area that is not over subscribed for the equipment in use.

I am currently looking into cheaper options.

Today I made a new seth up .. I hope you will try it out...
I'm your try, it is quite good .. but with your and my not be lowered below the limit of 2:10's....why?
Maybe because i have a "hole" in the middle of the wheel !! :-(

Steve, one more thing: the left rear tire is very warm after 3-4 laps, over 100 deg/C (normal 85-95), is there any solution for this or is this normal ?

Just a question about this 'automatic' downloading of all files that Greg mentioned: I guess this happens to people who have Dropbox installed on PC right? Because I only use the web for downloading files, and apparently I only download what I choose?

jayblue
13 January 11, 16:42
You can change preferences for your Dropbox by right clicking the picture in the system tray (near the clock)

If you don't want to automatically sync when your system boots simply go to preferences and uncheck the "start dropbox on system startup" box. You can also limit dropbox's download and upload rates in one of the other menus.
