There are mails from EA about SHIFT2 game about pre ordering SHIFT2. Should I pre order the game now or should I wait until it launchs for awhile (to be fixed some bugs or mistakes) before buying it? Any suggestion? It said, with pre order, there are few more features.

If you are getting it for PC, all those extras can be unlocked pretty easily when the unpacker becomes available.

I'm not planning to pick it up right away, maybe a couple months when the price goes down a bit.

Wait for launch and first tests.

You can unlock the extra features anyway on the PC.

There are a few extra cars (only three, in fact) and a lot of extra events.

There's enough material on the web to help you decide for yourself TBH. I'd pre-order it if I could get it through some way other than EA's downloader, because so far I like it and I can't be bothered to wait for an unpacker.

An unpacker will come out if there's interest in the game, but I don't think we will get the extra content through unpacking the game, but through some other method.

You can always cancel the pre order any time, even after release. So pre order it to get the extra content, then wait till people here give their impressions and if they're good go pick it up, if they're not cancel the pre order or get something else :)

Well, I have. You should be able to make up your mind by yourself. :) If you liked the first one, IMO all it takes is a look at a few of the gameplay trailers and feature list and it should be a done deal.

Depends how much the money means to you. This doesn't look like it's going to be one of those overpriced games (looking at some local prices) so that makes a pre-order tempting.
I think the smart thing to do is wait a few days and see other peoples' impressions.
You never know if a game is going to be released with serious problems, in that case it would be best to wait for a patch before spending the cash.

I enjoyed Shift 1 even with its problems, so I'm also considering a pre-order.

not sure since i'm on ATi now (Shift 1.02 with catalyt 10. something runs fine though) :der:

plus i dunno if there's something new in physics apart from the new HUD display :-)

Thanks for opinions. If users can unpack the game and there will be more cars and events after unpacked (same as pre order), I think I would prefer wait and see how the game is. I am very disappointed with Hot Persuit. It's like driving a car from gameloft in iphone.

Normally, when new games launch to the market, how often that those games will have software defect? I mean, like buying new car, it always has defect in the early production lots.

Who at Dice or Slightly Mad Studios confirmed that Shift 2 will be moddable yet? I think you assume to much. 1st confirm that the game will be moddable before making a pre-order decision.

DoktorR

They know that it MUST be moddable, because they fail it everytime to finish the game proper.

They have a nice promotional video. In 1:47 about 15 secs of car action. Enough to see 5 cars going down. "That is real racing"?

does anyone know if these 40 extra events that come with preordering the game, are in the normal version of the game as well(in the later stage of career)?

Im not sure but those events, i think i'll probably skip most of them as they involves events like manufacturer races, old versus new and thats about it.

There is a nice twist on Old vs New, though, where the old car like Corvette Stingray start driving first, while the Corvette C6 tries to catch up.

Well it depends really - at first I've looked at it as just an addon (interesting one), but was cofused about the physics and handling. Now after I'm more then sure I will enjoy playing Shift 2 these +40 events to the career are + few hours of gameplay and pure fun from racing ;)

In Shift 1 I didn't really enjoyed cars like Zonda, Veyron or Koenigsegg so I hope it will change.

yeah no doubt it is a bit like a typical Blimey! and SimBin like update.

without tossing anything that certain people enjoyed.

and hopefully improved where it's needed.

plus new tracks and GT cars look really interesting.

if one enjoyes career mode, online, drifting, hot lapping, time racing or modding or just cruising around the nordschleife endlessly of course anyone needs to decide himself

I am sure that you change your mind if you had the chance to try the car with the steering wheel T500RS. :-D

After recent releases which i pre ordered and subsequently found to be less than i expected them to be i am not pre ordering Shift 2. Instead i will wait for the community and trustworthy people to give real opinions on the game rather than buying into the hype. I have no faith in the gaming industry, its magazine reviews or fancy pre release statements anymore. I will not make the same mistake i made with F1 2010 and GT5

The one or two reviews I've seen still warn of the poor steering, for me this is more important than anything else. You could have the best physics and tire models in the World but if the controller sucks it's pointless.

I didn't buy the first game after trying the demo but I did read the endless arguments about the lag being real and others not getting lag ect.

If they can't be bothered to sort it out I can't be bothered to buy it.

What are the extra cars that you get if you pre-order? I think one of them is the Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640.

Also, from the car list on the website, I haven't noticed any new cars that weren't in Shift 1. I find it a little annoying that they didn't update the models, such as including the Murcielago LP 670-4 instead of the LP 640. They also kept the LP 560-4 instead of the new LP 570-4. The old Porsches are still there. The old Infiniti G35 is still there even though there is a new G37 and so on and on. :(

I believe the so called extra cars can be unlocked later in the game. If you preorder, you get a code or something to unlock it right away. Same probably goes for those career events.

For Shift1, the preorder bonus was the Porsche Cayman S with the shark livery. Can be unlocked by unpacking and modifying a file.
