I spent 15 minutes with this game and i knew i had been swindled. I haven't bought an e/a driving game in years. I had hoped that this game would break the mold that e/a is known for. Big promises, and no delivery. This is an arcade game plain and simple, the physics are terrible the graphics are sub par, and the game structure is the same as all the previous need for speed titles. I have relegated this disappointment to my 2nd pc which has no steering wheel. I will keyboard race this title till i get sick of its monotony, so as to try to get my monies worth. I've won 4 of 5 races on my keyboard, the 1 i lost was the 1st race. That should explain the type of challenge this game presents!!!!

Don't waste your time and Money!!!!

just give it more time, and future mods... it's not that bad really... and arcade it's NOT... stop with this oversimplified excuse.

Physics are MORE THAN DECENT but yes, I agree that poor handling setup out of the box can ruin the feel quickly, it's a shame that SMS completely forgot from their experience with the amazing GTR and GTR2 handling options.

You must be mistaken because this is on the steam page

''True Realistic Racing - SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED redefines the racing simulator genre by bringing the atmosphere of race day to life.. Featuring the FIA GT1 World Championship and GT3 European Championship plus real-world drivers, tracks, and cars, this is truly tomorrow’s sim for today’s adrenaline-fueled racer.''

PS. I won't buy it.

@ dude27:

But we are tired of modding and finishing the games for the developers.

Why don't do they release the game really "finished" and test it?

Instead of this they are drinking coffee all day long and promising the "new breathtaking" features in videos, just to make the people preorder it.

Shift 2 is NO sim-racer, its arcade racer.

In a sim racer i don't have slippery rear wheels and i don't need to unlock all cars by playing the game through first, i wanna have all cars from beginning on.

So what are you doing here? Triskele?

I bought it, I admit it's not perfect but I also know that with some time and our wonderful modders on PC, the game will improve greatly on its faults...

As I said, the Physics engine is really good (MUCH better than S1, even modded) but are not well supported by a poor handling/FFB setup out of the box... BUT when good setups for specific wheels and tweaks will arise, things will be much better... Gameplay is also much better, I don't have the problem of being rammed by the IA (maybe because I know HOW to drive a car in a simulator) and with graphic tweaks, I still get a good compromise of great graphiscs/fluid fps on my dated PC (Duocore 3Ghz + Nvidia 9800 GTX and 4 gb of ram)

GT legends, richard burns rally, iracing does it too :-P

, i wanna have all cars from beginning on.
i agree and i won't judge S2U until i have the cars i actually want.

career making you drive cars you never want, it's as worse as in Gran Turismo. why they said career mode is different is beyond me. in S1 i had the nissan 370z almost at the start of career and of course many cars where available in quick race. why they change a strenght of Shift 1 structure is beyond me

@ Kazumi:

Yes, i don't wanna race with a slow car like VW Polo or Renault around tracks i dont like, i just wanna drive the car i like around the track i like, not more.

For example:

Porsche 911GT2, 911GT3 RS, E46 M3, E30 M3, Ferrari 430

+

Nordschleife full length

+

Night

This is what i want to do.

And not with the boring Ford Focus around a 1/4 Monza track like at the beginning of Shift 2.

But we are tired of modding and finishing the games for the developers.

>>> Unfortunately, game with good graphics are done for console crowd first... S2 is a PORT with all the consequences

Why don't do they release the game really "finished" and test it?

>>> because they don't care about the RARER and RARER sim audience and because of my first answer to you

Instead of this they are drinking coffee all day long and promising the "new breathtaking" features in videos, just to make the people preorder it.

>>> Just don't swallow the hype, that's all, you are your own enemy if you fall for these cheap marketing tricks

Shift 2 is NO sim-racer, its arcade racer.

>>> I strongly disagree, S2 have an excellent physics engine under the hood and the gameplay package is much more serious than the first one based on arcade aggression style... what I admit is that the handling/FFB code is really poor out of the box which don't help well to appreciate the physics - It's like when they splitted between Simbin and SMS, all the good handling /FFB coders went to SIMBIN! look at their last STCC 2: dated graphics but a lot more fun to drive from out of the box

In a sim racer i don't have slippery rear wheels and i don't need to unlock all cars by playing the game through first, i wanna have all cars from beginning on.

>>> Franckly, you don't have to push hard to get all the cars... ;-) they made it really easy to make money and experience... and I don't know what you talking about with sliding: I didn't experience the arcade physics of S1 when on elite and manual clutch, maybe because I try to drive as close as in reality... without to drive like a maniac like in a lot of the videos we saw until now

Actually I always have more fun in a car that I know (little sport compact)... which is not race prepared - on LFS, I love the compact car race, always a good fun and on Iracing, the Solstice and mazda are amazing...

It's often more boring for me with a beast prepared for race, where all is concentred in the insane speed and the good trajectory only....
