View Full Version : No more windshield bugs etc.

For anyone interested... found them rather annoying (it even happens in swing man view?). Searched through a few files and found the textures for them. This will clean up the windshield so they won't constantly show up. I ran a few races and they didn't re-appear or anything crash but obviously use at your own risk.

Backup your old file before install (check readme).

Are those blurry dots supposed to be bugs? Like 5 of them at once? I was wondering what this effect was supposed to simulate. And I honestly couldnŽt come up with something that made sense. :-D

I guess IŽll try this little mod then. The idea of the "bugs" in itself is nice, but I think it was not executed very well.

Thanks! :-)

Nice, scca. It was becoming a nuisance watching the schmutz appear when nobody was on track.

That's what they meant when they were talking about simulation.

No seriously, thanks for this. No more bug-gore on camera lenses that don't exist in the first place.

I think the blackish blurry dots are just supposed to be dirt and mud. I say that because I generally only see them if the car in front of me gets a wheel off the racing surface or if I do myself.

However, driving up mountain straight at Bathurst yesterday and I saw - for the first time - a light brown splat suddenly appear of quite a different shape and texture. And then I realised that I killed my first virtual flying insect.

If the effects were made to be smaller, and took longer to fade out, I think they would actually look good.

Possibly. I also think they should have only been shown in cockpit views and not exterior views and even photo mode. That's just dumb!
