I'm having a bit of trouble understand the car rating/ranking system in Shift 2. I know there are A,B,C and D class cars with sub-ratings based on numbers from 100-999 but some of the ratings don't have as great a range for certain classes.
Is there anyone that can explain to me the rating system in Shift 2? I'd like to know what kind of car ratings are comparable to what, it's something that is a little hard to deduce using the current system.

rating changes every 500 points.
D is 0-500
C 500-1000...
still it is abstract. I'd prefer to have torque, power, weight; acceleration time, max speed, and maybe max g force while turning
rating changes every 500 points.
D is 0-500
C 500-1000...
This, plus, if you go into the upgrades screen, you'll see what each upgrade adds to the number.
Obviously if you add (a) part(s) that pushes it a car over 500, it'll become a C class car and therefore not eligible for D class events.
It's basically imitating Forza 2.
Typically a D car in Forza could either be a monster that had no upgrades to tyres, suspension, brakes etc but a lot of power upgrades that gave you a muscle car that handled like a brick but which would usually win on any track with a long enough straight.
Or a good handling, nimble, but low performance FWD car that had much better brakes, suspension etc than stock.
Getting the balance of which stock car to start with + upgrades + the tune to get the best car for a particular leaderboard hotlap was a large part of Forza.
Today I made a quick race with 15 AI. I used the M3 GT2 ALMS and choosed "same class". What I got was only Porsches with two different skins. Very booring.
I wonder why wasn't there at least a few other M3 cars? And I expected a variety of other cars.
When I choose "same car" I get 15 M3 all in black (they could at least alternate the color for all the opponents).
Is there a way to edit the classes to get a bigger variety of cars into such races?

yay the limited type of cars is very very irritating. I once race NSX with 15 AI and my opponent are mainly dodge chargers and challengers.... WTH.... they should implement some kind of filter and let user choose class, type(muscle, retro, modern) and stuff like that. Then it will be more like it!!
