I opened this thread, so we can discuss anything that is related with shift 2 skinning :)
Has anyone succeded to install a custom skin?
If yes, whats the trick? I managed to save a skin into .DDS and injected into the BFF file, but the game crashes when i try to select it.
Is this a problem with the DDS save settings? The default skins are 1024x1024, DXT1, ARGB.
C'mon guys, i would like to ride with my "own" car :thumbup:
managed to inject it.. but it won't show in game.. still shows the default one :(

Could u tell me what programs u used?
BFF inject... pointed to shift2 directory.. drag-dropped the updated dds and it worked..
even unpacked the bff and double checked and my updated dds is there.. :)

how did u save your DDS file?
Very interesting topic, I'd love to have my own livery in game too.
From my livery skinning experience, normally if you import and save it with DXTBmp the game won't find the skin.

edited with photoshop and saved with nvidia DDS plugin for photoshop default settings it gave me so no idea on the exact parameters but if the file was "wrong" it would be corrupted in game or something but not loaded up as the old livery.. :(
hmm might have found the problem..
file - VehicleHRLiveries.bff has all the liveries to but in higher res 2048x2048 instead of the 1024x1024 you find in Nissan_240sx_Livery.bff - as an e.g. but i can't seem to be able to inject the edited DDS to the other file.. :/
edit 2 - managed to inject it.. results in crash.

Yeah, that is the problem here also.
Update. I tried to save my DDS file in different formats, DXT1,DXT3, DXT5 and other variations, but its a no go... still crashing.
Some modder care to look after the poroblem? :)

got the same problem.
By random luck I got a twingo vinyl on the megane.
I have no idea what Shift2 wants.

The front bumper has annoying mapping >.<

A body wireframe wont help with the front bumper of the megane because any black plastic is one pixel on the misc texture.
