View Full Version : Gear Change FFB removal?
The ffbfx when i change gear bugs me, it would be ok if it was only on high powered front wheel drive cars but not on every thing.
i tried editing the controller settings XML but its still there.
Any ideas?
None! If someone else finds out how to remove or reduce it atleast I'd be very thankful. I don't mind it but with some cars that little jerk can turn the car into a swaying wreck waiting to happen. I just turn down my FFB setting on the wheel with the uncontrollable cars. Hardly ideal
The braking needs to be toned down too, ok if i'm hard on the brakes and the ABS is kicking in then i should feel rumbling through the wheel but not with gentle pressure at any speed.
After editing the XML, did you set it to read-only? After that, change to another controller profile, save, then change back to the original profile and save again to reload the XML file. You may have to rebind your custom controls.
I certainly haven't noticed any FFB on shifting, but I simply pasted my Shift 1 XML settings in (which had it disabled) before starting the game.
Yeah the braking needs looking at big time. My wheel goes crazy with this and is too loud at night due to the shaking

ok i will have another look, I cant remember now im at work but im guessing you change where it says gearchangefx or something to 0.00 in the XML?
The braking i wouldn't mind if it only happened when either the wheels have locked or the ABS has kicked in.
Its as if they have had a meeting a wrote down all the cool effects, ideas and features that the wanted but ran out of time to polish them :(

I haven't tried it but I would envision changing:
<_cGearChange Magnitude="0.250000" FrequencyMultiplier="1.000000" WaveType="Square" />
You should only need to set the magnitude to 0.000000 but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to set the other to 0 as well.
there thats the one i was trying but i wasnt making it read only, i will try tonight. thanks

anyone able to confirm this?
My gear change FFB was bothersome last night. Also the braking FFB irks me. Wouldn't simply lowering the "Spring Effects" slider in the Logi profiler reduce all of these? I also feel like the kerb/curb effects are too strong/violent. Again, lowering "spring effects" in Logi profiler should help there too, correct?

I didn't get any time to test last night.
The spring slider doesn't work as mine is set to zero.
