For me it's the BMW Alpina B6 GT3 - hands down. That thing kicks asphalt. I won the GT3 Championship with it. I only wish they had a GT1 version ;-)

Nissan GT-R, so forgiving, fast, nimble and can give/take a hit. Ran most of my career in it so far (up to level 18 now). But I just bought the Aston GT1 last night so things may change.

Falken Tires GT3 RSR is definately high on the list. So is S15 Silvia (Set up for circuit racing) and Pagani Hyuara. I like the Radical but I would prefer LMP1 or LMP2 car (ARX-01e! Lola Aston Martin! R15-R18 TDI's!)

Any of the Paganis, the Radical, Porsche 911 GT2 and GT3 RS (road car) and the Porsche GT3 race cars (I pretty much like all the GT3 race cars really, but the Porsches win on engine sound).

I have an AE86 setup for cornering. Of course a balls out A-class car is gonna be a killer, but realistically....this thing is a D-5xx point car. It handles like no other. HP is only about 130 something, and with the juice it just nips at the butt of 200hp.

It is one of the most fun cars to drive in my garage as to how well is slings from corner to corner. Not to mention cars pull on me in the straights so I HAVE to make up time in the corners.

I'd say the most challenging car to drive (and fun for that very reason) is a Viper with any sort of mods. I have one with everything but WORKS and another with WORKS. With all the driving helpers off (ELITE) either of those is an absolute beast to drive around any track. Very delicate and smooth inputs or you're doing 180's all day long. Once you feel them out though they absolutely fly around a track.

Honestly though, I don't like maxing out the mods on the cars or getting the WORKS package for each and every car. I like to set up 2 of the came cars with a random mix of upgrades...tweak each...then throw 'em on the track. That, to me, is more realistic to what someone would be doing in real-life track-day racing.

In "real life" I have a MKIV Jetta and a MKV GTI...so I set my GTI up to how my real-life one is. And it's a blast...really like taking it on the N'burg ring. My buddy lives in Germany from when we were in the Air Force together...he has a clean SRT-4 and goes on the ring a few times a year. I sent him my times...he asked "when were you over here!?!?!?" I had to explain to him what really was going on.... :D

Radical or Caterham

Agreed, although I like the Caterham slightly more because of the challenging torque steer. Although, the brakes on the radical are insane. That car can stop on a dime.

I also bought the Shelby Cobra earlier today for some legends races, and it was super fun to drive. A good balance between challenging and sporty.

I like the Caterham in Simbin games better. Driving this one compared to that is somewhat lacking.

There is a guy here in town that has one...I want to just go for a ride in it. The only one I've seen in the states...and it's 5 minutes from my house....sooo frustrating!!!! He's a lawyer...go figure.

A while back a real Caterham racer said that Simbin's physics weren't quite correct. I can't recall exactly what he mentioned but some food for thought. I do enjoy Simbin's also regardless of accuracy or not.

Anyhow for me it is the Caterham hands down. Tuned up to just before works conversion is just a blast at dusk on Bathurst.

For me the best Caterham i have driven is the one from the RaceX mod in rFactor and the SHIFT2 one for me is very similiar once you really ring it's neck

@joshrose - Cobra was next on my to buy list

I just works converted the BMW M3 E92. This thing is badass. Brilliant handling and performance. I tweaked mine for a bit more oversteer and stiffness of course.
Honestly what more reason do you need to try it than the screenshots here:

Being a absolute Supra Nerd I have to say that I like the Supra. But with works tuning its quite difficult to control. But if I leave my personal preference aside and just focus on the cars which I think handle quite good then:

-Bugatti Veyron Works tuned. It just fits my style of driving and I wasnt able to come near to my 5:50 best time on the Nordschleife. Never thought to say that. In Shift 1 i did not like the Bugatti ... but with works tuning in Shift 2 its awesome. I tried hard to beat my Nordschleife time but the closest I could get was slightly over 6 minutes with the Pagani HYUARARARAR(?).

-During career I mostly played with a works tuned Lancia Delta. Awesome car! No mentionable top speed but it circles around corners like no other car. :D

Pagani Huayra-Works. Very angry and punishing, but also very good looking, awesome sounding and exciting to drive.
It needs some tuning of course but in the end every corner is a joy with this car

So far the '70 Dodge Challenger on Bathurst has been so much fun. I've probably run 50 laps in quick play pretending to be Peter Brock. I'm hoping there will be an older Camaro in the game at some point.

Funny, considering the new Ford Mustang Boss 302 beats the BMW E92 M3 on the track for $20,000 less that you can spend on performance upgrades and then really kick the M3's ass.

You know what also kills M3's for breakfast? The Ford FPV Boss 335 GT.

Too bad the one in Shift 2 is the nose-heavy GT500 which is slower than the M3... :P

I haven't tried all the cars, but so far I like the Skyline R32.

I like the Matech Ford GT1, very easy to drive and still beats down all the other GT1 cars.

Nissan GT-R SpecV, engine swapped and works converted - incredible power, over 360 km/h topspeed at the doettinger hoehe, even when downforce is maxxed out.

Auto-Bild Porsche GT3 RS - doesn't drift if you don't want it to. But when you're getting for it, hell yeah, you can go sideways all the time!

Ironically I seem to like a car everyone is bashing: the Lotus Exige. Upgraded with some parts it has very good handling, though it's a bit wobbly but I credit this to it being too light. Don't try to ram people with this car or you'll be sorry you even tried lol... :D

I should've used it more often, but I didn't because the car was having trouble putting its power to the ground. Turned out I forgot to upgrade the transmission to cope with my engine upgrades...

Mercedes 190 EVO II. Havent seen it mentioned yet. Brilliant car outside the game, fun to drive ingame. It's just that when you know the specs in real life (cosworth engine, developed chassis etc.) it's very hard to make upgrades in game cause I'm afraid to lose that iconic feel :D.

Not that many classic car enthusaists here - just a few it seems. But at least I am not the only one man-handling a Dodge Charger around Bathurst pretending to be someone I am not...

I would love to see more late 60s and early 70s cars in the game of the same quality as those currently included, and I wouldn't mind paying for them either.

The Camaro. And the Dodge Charger Concept. Because nobody said anything about then. But I'm a real sucker for the M3 E30 and the 190E. I wish they had included a Ford Sierra RS500 in the game. Would fit perfect with the E30 and the 190E.

My favs are all C-B range. The A2000+ works cars are very fast but unforgiving. The GT1 and GT3 cars are all great drivers, but not too fun.

1.) ~B1250 997 GT3 RS, power to 507HP, brakes, body, lighten, keep stock tires. Steering is light and agile. This car handles so well. The back end will kick out if you want it to, but it is easily controlled. On stock rubber, you can powerslide all you want.

2.) ~C999 Nissan R32 GT-R, I forget the upgrades but certainly brakes, body, springs and shocks, tires. Again, excellent steering, tons of grip.

The R35 GT-Rs all have incredibly terrible understeer on the stock tune. I haven't bothered changing the tune at all.

3.) Works Mc F1. It's just so fast.

There are a lot of good cars, with a slight tune. These are just fresh on my mind. The works classic Shelby GT500 also looks sick and drives great, just wish I could paint those well arches body color.

Saving up for a GT3, which car do you guys suggest me to get?

I did some testing in all the GT3 cars on Spa last night (albeit only with no or minor tuning of setups). I was fastest in the BMW M3 (but for some reason I wasn't allowed to use that one in the GT3 career races. Edit: I just remembered that that's actually a GT2 car, isn't it?) with the Lamborghini and the Audi R8 LMS more or less sharing a close second place.

My favourite one to drive however, even though it was almost three seconds slower per lap, remains the Falken 911 GT3 RSR you get as a reward for some race (but once again this one is banned from being used in GT3 career races, although I haven't checked if the non-branded RSR you can buy, or the race version RS, might be allowed).
Absolutely awesome sound and despite being slightly slower I feel that it handles better than the Audi and the Lambo.

Because the GT3 RSR is classified as "GTX"-car and not GT3. For GT3 class you should take the 911 GT3 R for a ride. It drives just as well as the falken one, but feels a slight bit faster, imho.
I used it for all GT3-class career events and had an easy walk-trough.

Is the RSR not FIA GT2 IRL? That's probably why it's "GTX."

A few that come to mind right now are the caterham superlight, lancia delta, and most of the muscle car classics.

I really enjoy driving AWD (4wd) cars. MY favorites are Audi R8 (with that Lambo engine it is a beast) for C, Lamborghini Gallardo for B (with turbo and some other upgrades it was tearing asphalt), and upgraded Lamborghini Murcielago (sp?) for A.
They are all very, very fast, supreme acceleration but still driveable, can easily slide if you want. Great fun.
