Gday all.

Was wondering what the possibility of skins being able to be modified. ie make your own team car skin. Personally I would like to do some color schemes on a Shelby, reminiscent of 1970's Australian Ford Falcon limited editions.

It appeared possible in Shift. I am not sure how they were achieved. Are those methods applicable to Shift2? Is there any tutorial?

Anyway this thread is now created for "skin mod" discussions.

cheers

Bob

I would like having the possibility to have an improved Vinyl interface altogether. This customization UI is horrendous. Barely room for creativity despite of the great number of shapes available, it just too tedious. They should have take the same customization model of NFS World.

Yeah it's in a bad way at the moment, I found little to no improvement over the vinyl application methods in s2u as opposed to Shift. we can select matte/gloss vinyls now, however not for specific vinyls, just everything matte or everything gloss, coming from a successful vinyl creating career in Forza 3 the lack of ambition in the s2u vinyl editor is inexcusable.

For what it's worth; due to the way s2u has been coded it doesn't look like custom liveries will be as easy as they were in shift.

But we have this thread: http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=248238 which alludes to the possibility of fully custom liveries, although how we will get them into the game is another question. I personally am looking forward to being able to inject (if need be) custom liveries into shift 2 the Aero options and the quality of the works models just scream for good custom liveries.

Oh by the way, no numbers or ability to manually control the camera in the vinyl editor? they clearly weren't serious about it, i don't expect we will ever see a UI/control improvement for the livery editor patched into the game. Being able to lay vinyls on windows is great but once they get to about 75% of the original pasted size you lose any really good detail on almost every vinyl. the Momo logo is an excellent example of this.

All in all, the sooner we have the ability to layout our own custom liveries the better.

I've been looking around for this answer... are custom skins that were originally made for Shift 1 compatible with the same cars from Shift 2?

Yes, skins for SHIFT1 are compatible, just need to do some extra work (editing the .rcf files and repacking them)
