What version of Sierra is that, again?
God, I hope it's 4WD...

I think i make both 2WD and 4WD, because they have almost same kind of like bodies. Biggest differences are in the hood and front mask.

Remember to make the 4wd version have little less power cause RT physic engine don't model power loss caused by transmission. :)

That is what you say!
You have all the means needed to simulate power loss through the drivetrain

Leave torque the same and multiply "InertiaDriveShaft" by 1.8 or so for 4WD. Maybe increase "EngineFriction" a little.

I have now paint job, i have to paint all orginal RT cars to beasts. :D Beauty cars  Beast cars

What is a "beast" car? Many of the original cars have "real " skins in the skin download section. If you are making new skins, that is the place to upload, and not upload entire car, just skin.

How is the Sierra coming?
Giacomo
22 December 04, 16:41
It should be interesting to have a sound with wastegate and bang-bang for the Sierra Cosworth... is it possible to convert a sound from another game? I remember that CMR2 car sounds were amazing...
Bye!
Midi
22 December 04, 17:43
Sorry but that isn't possible in RT, we have only sounds for different rpm's.
Roger
22 December 04, 17:45
As Midi says, not properly possible. But, I remember someone had sounds for a turbo car where the overlay and certain revs produced a fairly convincing wastegate sound. Pops & bangs - I wish we could

22 December 04, 17:47
I think that was the Ford RS200, but sometimes sounds came wrong time.
Giacomo
22 December 04, 17:48
I was thinking at MLK's Rs200 sound... It's very cool because you can hear the wastegate noise and the typical turbo blow...
Also the Sierra has a cosworth turbo engine... :D

22 December 04, 18:29
Look-the problem with Rt's sounds is that it generates sounds from the sound files you set, and does that for both rews going up and down. Now for the extra sounds like banging from the exhoust(fire) or wastegate... we would need different code so that the sound samples would be used under the specified parameters(conditions).
Something like banging from the exhoust happens only at a CERTAIN RPM under the condition that the engine is rewing down fast....
Anyway-RT uses samples to create its own noise for the empty rews and we would need the option to use extra samples at certain conditions.
As for the V8 sound-I am sure that it works Ok with you. Have a listen of the S1 sounds-it is sampled on the real S1 videos(thanks to Loungekid  ) and is quite convincing. Too bad that it is missing the fire's, bangs, sqealing brakes, steam from the brakes(watercooled) and most importantly a MID DIFF :P

I love the Delta S4... it's the best rally car ever made I think... no one built a turbo-volumex engine after it...
And then we must remember the ECV and ECV 2 based on the S4... but the FIA stopped the coming Gr. S and these monsters never raced.

Make that: 10-15 sec orginal car sound and the end of the sound bang and it sounds like turbo. 10sec to V sylinder engines(max 7000rpm) and 15sec to straight engines(max 10000-12000rpm). Test it out if you have program that you can edit sounds. :D I have test it and it work well. I'm very sure that turbo flames can't do to RT but sounds can do.
Giacomo
23 December 04, 11:28
Maybe the FIA had reason, these Gr. S could be very dangerous...
In the 80's there were too much bad crashes and many brave drivers lost their lives driving Gr. B cars.
It was said that some drivers were dazed due to the too violent acceleration/deceleration.
It was really awful, some Gr. B cars made 0-100km/h in 2.5 sec. circa...

Look at the difference in the sense of all this: Rally cars don't need a 300km/h top-speed  , the grip is most important.
So: much grip + 4WD + short gear raito + less wheight + Audi power(for example) = acceleration like HELL
2WD + long gear ratio + Viper power = high top speed :smash:

2.5 sec now you are joking. Because Dodge viper gts.r takes 3.2sec to 0-100km/h and it is more powerful than any of rally cars.
What Turty said AND more of the same
Horsepower figures tell you very little about a car's performance.
Horsepower is multiplied through the gearbox to create THRUST at the wheels (that is all the car knows about when it accelerates), so a low powered vehicle with very short gearing can have a lot of thrust (for short bursts between the gears - an MX bike is a good example of low power and extreme violence  ).
The thrust is applied through the tyres; and how much of it can be used to move the vehicle depends on which wheels are being driven, weight transfer (a function of CofG height/wheelbase); tyre grip and the effectiveness of the suspension and a whole host of other things (such as aerodynamics).
The amount of mass the needs to be moved (accelerated, stopped 7 turned) also affects every aspect of performance.
A rally car is on great tyres, has great suspension, is geared to suit the conditions and is not carrying too much spare weight - and the weight it has is located it's most favourable advantage as far as the rules will allow (usually biased towards traction as they are traction limited in terms of performance)
A Dodge Viper can probably record high corner "g" on a smooth skidpan in a steady state, but will probably suffer against a rally car down a give and take tarmac road with bumps and undulations.

Don't forget, not a single rally car has ever been sold on the basis of it's 0-100kph time ;)
The only thing they care about is arriving at the end of the stage faster than anyone else and in good enough shape to complete the rest of the rally
Honestly, do yourself a favour and forget looking at car stats - they mean nothing in the racing world. I bet the Renault F1 car is faster than the Ferrari F1 0-100kph, but around a whole lap (race/season) it was no-where to be seen. There are some motorbikes that would probably beat an F1 car to 100kph, but everywhere else they are toast :D

In fact the Brabham F1 from 80's was fitted with a turbo engine with over 1000hp but it shouldn't go faster then a modern F1... the big turbo lag gave it a bad handling and a 2004 F1 can beat it on every track! :)

I've seen this car in action, went to several Rally Cross events at Brands Hatch.
I was lucky to be allowed in the pits with John Welch (driver).

There was a time when scientists said that a wheel driven car could not be accelerated at more than 1g - luckily no-one told the racers :D
Pero_Grozni
28 January 05, 15:11
That is because the friction coefficient was never suposed to be over 1.
Friction coeficient at 1.0 gives you 1 G aceleration.
Defining friction coefficient=1
That is when you get the same ammount of friction force as normal force on the plane.
So the way guys imagined it was with energy-the ammount of energy pushing down is the ammount fo energy pushing of friction force. With lower than 1g you get loss due to heat generation and you cannot go higher than 1.0 as than you would than have more energy in the friction force than you have put in with your normal force.
Of course that is crap as that definition although kinda belivable is wrong.
Roger

big addonpacks-when you get all in one bag is unrespect to autors ;)
there is lot of work in every one of them..car,track or something else so we can atleast give them respect what they deserve by installing it one by one :smash:
It is a good idea to create real driver names as you have done! Simply include instructions on which car to install where, rather than having big download if it is not possible.

The reason to make a big (120mb) package is it will be easy for all to to use, even for they who new to Rally Trophy. And to Imagine, i have big respect to all car creators and i enjoy there work. I've decided to try car-making :OMG: .
I'm currently looking for blueprints, drawings or good-quality photos of Opel Kadett C (sedan). I have one decent side-view drawing and gazillion 1/4 & 3/4 photos + a couple of decent front and back photos. :)
Top view drawing or photo is nr 1 on my most wanted list, 2nd and 3rd are front and rear drawings.
A complete set of blueprints would of course make me extremely happy :D
Another project I've started is updating the AI stagetimes for original stages to be more compatible with TTRealmod. I'm doing it just for fun for now, but if the TireTeam so wishes, I could do and upload it for everybody to use.
In any case, the idea is to leave ai.ini:s intact and modify the stagetimex.ini:s like this: decide 'default' time for Intermediate level so that most somewhat experienced drivers can beat the fastest Intermediate AI regularly, Novice and Expert level times will then be like +- 8-13 sec. of that time respectively so that the best Novice AI will be a tad slower than poor human (me, myself & I, for example) and only advanced drivers can beat Expert AI regularly.
To have even a tiny chance of success, I'm counting on you all to give me suggestions for stagetimes, any stage, any level.

How to modify "AI" files(not stagetimes!)?
In Settings there are cpuxx.ini:s that have in them info on computer drivers, like what car they will drive (depending on difficulty setting), their names and how well they will perform on a certain stage etc.

Looks actually quite good. I lost lots of data from my HD ,including almost finished Sedan cosworth model :(. I think you should make windows again.(you got PM)
pepe2, a little tip... while working on the mesh it's better to use flat shading. It looks like your model has no normals so it is therefor difficult to see the details in the shape. This is ok for now as normals are not important untill you have the shape finished... But turn on flat shading by clicking on the little symbol in the upper left corner of the 3d vew, then settings/shade, fill/flat shading. Will be much easier to work! At least I think so.
A nother trick I use to see if a surface is smoth is to also disable the wire frame. Then you really see the contrast between the polygons so you can make good looking "curves". I always try to make my models look as good as possible in flat shading first, then I tune normals and then I apply textures.
Good luck, looks like you got a good shape although I think I know what SierraBAR will say to you about the windows... Doesn't look good with a single vertex holding that many faces!

Thanks for the tips RTS and SierraBAR.
I have thinked about doing those windows again, cause they seems to not working good with normals.
There is a tool in Zmodeler with you can atumatically do those normals almost good by just clikcing and then adjusting the scaling with them, so I must to do that after I have done the model itself.
New release soon, I know some people will be looking forward to it's release.
It drives so well on Richards's Safari stage :D

This will be a welcome addition to the game!
P.S. Is this your first attempt at modelling, if so what guides/tutorials are you using?
Thanks.
It's my second attempt, first project was

Here you can find tutorials: http://zmodeler.nfscheats.com/docs.html . And of course check the rt zmodeler tutorial, i just don't know where you can find it now, maybe someone could help in that case.
ps. of course you get the credit if you make interior and physics for me.

I've been looking for interior pics to help, so far I've found this:
http://www.fiat131rallye.de/texte/bilder/foto365.jpg
I'll keep looking...
I don't think the pic above is a real 131 Abarth, just a replica. This is a cockpit of a real one:
http://www.vdvgrant.be/cars/fiat%20abarth%20in.jpg.JPG
(steering wheel pic removed, its wrong, its as above on most the other pics I've seen.)
Thanks for the pics, now we just need someone to make that interior, but there's no hurry, model isn't even half ready.
Here was some pic from interior too but bad quality: http://www.131abarth.com/131abarthrally.htm
I've found some nice high res. interior pics, but they're a bit big to post on here...
Another thought, there is a Rally Supercar Day on Saturday at Castle Combe which I'm going to, and I know theres a ex works 131 Abarth going there (driven by Walter Rohl as well). I'll try and get as many shots as I can! :)
Thanks, could you send those pics at my email?

This car will need a Christian Rigolet skin :)
For those who don't know, he his one of the most spectacular rally opener in france. He's only an opener, because he never accepted to restrict his car according to the group A regulations because of his love of the cosworth engine (he's a cosworth specialist, preparing cars for a lot of drivers).
He likes doing the show, but when he gets serious, he can be really fast on dry tarmac with his +400BHP Sierra RS500 :

Mirrors done...
So, now it's time to copy this right side of the body and fit those things together. I would be very pleased, if someone can give advice, how to weld those sides together. :)
-EDIT- Ok, I'm stuck...
I'm reading the tutorial and trying to weld them (I have copyed, mirrored and used reorient-tool and named sides to one object) but now I just can't understand how to do the tricks shown in tutorial. I have swithced to vertices level. I have selected vertices where two sides are joined and I see this:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y146/BigPeBe/Kaikkee/vertices.jpg
Then the tutorial says ''then inverse selection with Select\Invert tool, hide selected vertices and switch to Right view''. I don't really know what to do with the invert tool and I don't know how to hide the selected vertices...
So please, can somebody give me some advice?
And BTW I don't know is it important, but why I cant see those squares seen in tutorial pic, I just see red points by them:

Assuming you are at the same stage as your top screenshot this is what I do:
(1) Hide the bottom half of the car (select, quad and hide) so that just the top of the hood/bonnet, roof, windows and trunk/hood are showing.
(2) in the top view .... create, objects, uniteselect and draw a quad around each set of vertices The faces that adjoin the selected vertices will be highlighted in red. Then click on the vertices and they will now be joined.
Repeat (2) until each set of vertices is done on the top half of the car. Unhide the lower part of the car, hide the top and do the same for the bottom of the car.
Do the same for the front and then the rear.
Be careful when vertices sit on top of one another otherwise you will end up joining them all together. and the body willbe all wrong.
There are a lot of things mentioned in the tutorial that I cannot get to work or see so I wouldn't worry about that. It may be that we don't have a fully functional Zmodeler version.
Hope the above makes sense. ( A good idea is to save the current version you are using. Open Zmodeler ,open a new version then merge the saved version and then use the new version to make any additions/alterations etc.)

So I think that the body itself is ready:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y146/BigPeBe/Kaikkee/BodyReadySierra.jpg

First question....have you merged your body with whatever RT car it is going to replace?
Assuming you have and you have made your tga file for the body this is what you do to map the first side of the body.
(1) create, faces. single, and click on body
(2) then switch to "Faces" mode...Select, quad and hide half the car
(3) using Surface, Mapping, Assign UV, single.....
right click on each face you want to texture.(they will turn red
(4) Go to Edit, Attributes and in the drop down menu choose #E1 body dust, click OK
(5) With the SEL button pessed in click on any free space on the screen where you selected the faces to be textured
the selected faces will now appear in the UV mapping screen along with your body tga
depress the SEL button and click on "Objects"
(6) In your UV mapping screen you can now move, rescale, mirror etc the assigned faces using the Main Tool box tools.
(7) When everything is as you want it use Surface, Mapping, Assign UV, single..and click on the body of the car
the assined faces will turn red
click on "None" and then in a free space in the same screen
(a) right click to clear selected faces and (b) left click to clear UV mapping screen.
You have now textured the first part of the car.

i decided to show the first screenshots of my stage, based on real-life scenery.
The pines textures are just beta, i'll work with them, also i'm working with tarmac textures now, to make them more accurate and detalised.
Some trees and bushes textures i taken from RBR and Flat-out, some textures are made by me.
It will be first of my planned tracks for RT, 95% tarmac, but few kinds of tarmac - from very rough to soft.
i use some tricks with forest optimization, so it's not needed for "plastic" backrounds anymore :)
there will be more ground objects, ground texture will be remapped i think.
about fps: the number of fps now is about like in Kenya stages on hi-detail. i'll optimise alpha channels of course, to make it more friendly with slower machines.

these screens are from only 15% done track, and without shadows yet.
That just looks beautiful

Hey, what game is that :D Looks like very interesting.
That looks very good. A real forest stage.
Wish my tracks looked as good.
Looks great, This could be a good stage for the wrc cars
i need vertex shadows to work :(((((
max crashes when i export track with vertex shadows :((
when i'll see how it looks with shadows, i'll decide to make more ground vegetation, or not.
To be released very shortly!!
Yammi, Turbodelta :)
I stoped working on this car, because i found not enough information to build a "florenzo like" car long time ago. ;)
It´s a Colin McRae version, or? Is there also a good cockpit?
Here is my own 3D model:

Yes this is a CMR5 conversion  , CMR cars generally don't have very high detail cockpit, hense the good quality meters with rather scant cockpit textures.
Couldn't find much info and pics for the interior, so I have gone with original CMR cockpit texture.
All that aside , boy it sure does go and handle well, thanks to P_G for a big part in that
Looks very good YorT.

KiTTX, how about your track project?
And few words about the upcoming WRC mod. I have been testing the Fabia and it's really great. Wouldn't believe that this good 4wd is possible in RT. :trophy: Just put the brake balance fully to the rear and then some left foot braking and scandinavian flick, handbrake is unnecessary when you find the way to drive these great cars. Of course it's not anything like RBR but it's really a great achievement of 5 years old game, and default RT tracks are very good for WRC, they aren't too wide with these cars.
And now i'm going to continue the mapping of 131...
Found some time together with willingness to continue my project :)
Now I have only interior_lo, mapping & texturing and physics to do :D
And maybe some minor details too, like raindrop models etc. ...:
Looks very impressive Zieman:up:

Again, thanks, guys!
Midi, unfortunatelly i dont have so much free time to make it fast.
But i drive every weekend to place that i make, getting textures and some notices.
Now i'm making some improvements to first split-stage, with objects, textures, etc. but vertex shadows are still dont work, dunno why :(
Here are some minor updates and improvements.
[img=http://img61.imageshack.us/img61/659/losevodq7.th.jpg] (http://img61.imageshack.us/my.php?image=losevodq7.jpg)
damn, it seems that i mislabeled two versions of track with diffirent scales, so track on a pic is a bit bigger than it must be. i'll rescale it and make pines a bit taller also. I added shadows on pines textures, i think it's more realistic for forest trees.
The piece of track on a pic is start lane, i want to make all objects as realistic as possible. When i'll finish some objects and all vegetation, the track will grow faster :)

...getting textures and some notices.
If you need any textures just say so
hmm :)
indeed, i need some textures, for example - clear textures of birch trees... All i had in photos are too dark or too light (too much direct sunshine to it), i tried to edit and use them, but it looks bad
It really looks great
Zieman, raindrop models are easy to make ;) Just export your body/windscreen to 3ds format without materials, go 3dsmax and use "tasselate" (hope i wrote properly) modifier... Then just export 3ds again and import it into your z3d file ;)
And Zieman, that interior looks very nice. I haven't yet started my fiats interior, maybe autumn or not if i have lot's of work. And next year i'm going to army so the 131 will wait :

Stage 2 of the WRC Mod is in development, and I have converted this car from RBR. Citroen Xsara FRC
Can anyone tell me the history and details of it please.

I have 2 cars which will be released during the course of the coming seaons rally events. I have also been learning how to make tracks and have finished the basic layout of my first attempt. All I now need to do is to replace some textures, plant all of the trees and bushes and add the cameras. I am hopeful that it will be released before Christmas.
I regret that I have not done anything on the Citroen DS21 for 6 or 7 months now. Basically all it needs is someone to do the physics. I am afraid I am useless when it comes to the physics. I don't have the patience or time to learn how to do it.

Kiplali, dont be affraid to make wider track area around track... it looks not realistic now, like in space, when ground just ends... Select edges around the ground areas and move them farer from each side... it wont take so much processing time in the game, but will look much better.

Phew,
finally I've finished my textures and started UV mapping the car.
Here's a snapshot of work in progress - a part that you usually won't even get a glimpse on while playing RT - the engine compartment :)

About 206 - it is a RBR conversion with low poly improvements - now car have about 7500 polys with wheels and looks very good I think. But I'm not sure I'll finish it. Yort know's why:p
i uploaded new screens and little descriptions to the gallery, but i mislabelled categories and 2 of the screens are in GTL gallery :( i didnt find out how to move/delete files from there, i hope moderators will help me (please:) )
