Just the same old "Word on the new game will come." stuff that we've heard for a very, very long time. I've even given up on checking the In Development forum thread at RACEROOM. 212 posts there and not one real word on what is "in development", just those seven words above.
GTR3 will get here, just not any time soon.
i saw this on simracingworld:
''The title will take gamers back to the roots of SimBin style racing games, while offering a brand new take on the basic concept of “easy to drive, hard to master”, the hallmark of SimBin titles for the past decade.
SimBin will take a significant step up in both realism, visuals, and sheer immersion, offering players a completely new and unique experience based on the known and award winning simulation philosophy of SimBin.
SimBin will focus on continued support for the game through multiple new innovative online features and activities, in addition to a very comprehensive DLC plan.
The title is scheduled for release 2011, publisher TBA''
so this year,hopefully.

My opinion is that EA games has the rights form FIA GT.
I think that SimBin has no rights any more to use the FIA GT brand.
Still I hope that SimBin will come with a new GTR3.

I doubt, that GTR3 will be made anyway.
well it's scheduled to release this fall,so let's not lose hope here ;-)
Just hope that their "new game" isn't new DLC or expansion pack for Race 07.
OT I'm curious about telemetry even I'm useless in car setups. :alien::whip: iRacing for example now uses a new soft from mclaren electronic systems.(?)

it's a safe bet with all the little addons coming out lately that simbin is using up content already in-house and done with few little new nuggets, and cleaning up. Race 07 is rip very soon imo(development wise) but that wont stop me on GTR Evo lol, the poor model id limit will stop me though:-(.
I hope and pray that Simbin have licensed the rfactor 2 engine and are doing their own thing with it, and not that crappy console lizard engine. One things for sure though, it is a bit worrying that if it's out this fall, it's probably not going to be a new engine at all.
Just hope they don't continue 'farming out' and come up with something as revolutionary as GTR2 was at the time. Some of the 'schoolboy' errors in their latest add ons are shocking and show that little testing was done.
Listening to your community is the way to go and clearly something Simbin don't do, want to make some money Simbin, release a model id extension patch and charge me £20, I'm up for that.
I respect the fact they are cheap(apart from the wtcc one) but they really do offer low value compared to what the community has done, and half the stuff they have done is already in the game anyway mod wise. Mid Ohio, what were they thinking lol, I will be keeping the vlm one thanks. I do not want to see constant advertising of their 'race room' stuff either.
Rant over lol.

I highly doubt GTR3 will ever be coming in standalone game form.
The RRRE Beta has car sections and one of them is called GTR3 with multiple cars in it.

I think GTR3 can now be considered "shelved for the time being" at the very least. Even if they did come out with it this year, I highly doubt it would be a worthy successor to GTR2.

Simbin just refuses to talk about GTR 3. The site is still up there, but considering that the title was officially announced in march 2010 (almost 3 years ago), and we had couple of shots back in january 2012/dec 2011, I was expecting at least more stuff on 2012. But surprisingly, not only lack of info, but another game was announced in the meantime.
Confusing, and disapointing.

Yeah, it wouldn't hurt Simbin to come out and share their plans with GTR3. It doesn't make sense to announce GTR3 with screenshots etc, and then suddenly be all quiet about it.

if GTR3 is going to be simply a proper game built on the RRE foundation / engine...
I will not be happy

cant remember where, but i read that there is a Section in RaceRoom Called GTR3, could it be simply an expansion of that...
That would in the end of the day save them time and money, and utilise fully the RR game?

28 January 13, 20:51
All this is pure speculation, imo. Until R3E goes gold, and we can see what they have to offer in total, we just don't know whether or not they will use this as a base for GTR3.
Just remember, the Simbin of today is not the same as the Simbin that gave us GTR3. IMO, it's pretty futile to expect that even if Simbin eventually releases GTR3, it will be a worthy successor to GTR2.

I get the feeling GTR3 was just a load of b0l0x to keep people interested in buying into the RRRE thing.

It ain't going nowhere. At least not as a true sequel to GTR2*.
It's probably best to look forward to some of the other upcoming sims like AC and rF2.
*Speculation. But they've made no mention of it. Race Room looks just like the promo screen for GTR3 and it uses the same sound system.

As I've said previously, the current FIA GT Championship is very different to its 2003/4 counterparts. The 2013 season for example only has six events. GTR3 was always going to be rather different to GTR2. And now Porsche and Ferrari are back in the races, the old licensing issues have returned i.e. Simbin can't include them.
Neither rF2 nor AC will simulate the current FIA GT Championship out of the box. It remains to be seen if anyone produces all the cars and tracks required as a mod.

I seriously don't think R3E will hold simbin up there with the big guys - AC and rf2. I wonder if the project turned out to be profitable for the studio afterall.

Its very early days for RRRE - too early to decide profitability. I think Simbin see RRRE as a long term project just like iRacing, AC and it would seem rF2.
AC are hardly "big guys" - they are a small team asking for permission to go on Steam - something Simbin already has. ISI are bigger than Kunos but rF2 has hardly set the world on fire - numbers racing on-line are small.
Having said that I agree that Simbin seem to be starting from behind in terms of product if not potential customer base. But I think they would be in the same situation, perhaps worse, if they had produced GTR3.
yes, I was refering to product quality. R3E is pretty good, there's potential on the physics engine, but the free to play/microtransactions model isn't much appelaing to me. I rather spend some good cash on a great package. (however, simbin announced some interesting bundle packages, i'm might take a look at that)
I hope for their best on this though, I love GTR Evo and I'm hoping to get a new GTR game someday.. If not, I think on the long run I will be driving AC an rf2 only.
cheers

Fortunately Simbin can fall back on the loyalty of GTR2 and Race 07 players. However they face some stiffer competition these days than they did then! I don't like the whole free play buy what you want idea either though. However I hope it survives if for no other reason than to prove to them that GTR3 would be welcomed and enjoyed! I hope for AC and the others going to Steam works out for them because love Steam or not it's cheaper marketing costs for them and ultimately that means more enjoyment for us as a community. I wouldn't vote one down on Steam because if they can't afford to release them otherwise it only hurts the race fans if they fold. And let's face it in this economy any company faces the possibility of folding these days!

Pcars looks like it has great potential for a GTR3 replacement. What do you guys think?
I agree with your comment regarding pCars, but lots of people have already made up their mind while it is in alpha stage that it can't possibly be a proper sim. I think this is because it has the best graphics of any driving sim at the moment and SMS are evil developers because they use to work for EA. I have pCars and rFactor 2 and I'm much happier about the rate of development of pCars than I am about rFactor 2.
Sorry, probably getting off topic.;-)

Personally, I hope Steam, as it currently exists, is one of those that folds. I've nothing against online purchasing or digital downloads (aren't all downloads digital?) but once Steam has my money and I have the product, that should be the end of our relationship (as long as the product functions as advertised).
But, as it is, once you purchase anything from Steam you give them permission to have a hand in your computer as long as the software is installed. They get to decide when and how you play (try installing or playing if the computer has no internet connection); they get to decide when and how to patch, mod, or "upgrade" (you have no say whatsoever ...and how often have you heard of upgrades for software which you didn't want installed?); and just look at the threads on nogrip alone regarding issues with Steam games that stem solely from the Steam connection requirement not from the game or the computer.
I will support Steam only when/if they are merely a vendor, when the transaction consists of nothing more than them getting my money and me getting their product. As it stands I wouldn't give them a penny if that would purchase every game they offered.

my bet is simbin is going to wait it out a bit.
race game releases will be a bit crowded in the next year. if they take there time and make really good product like gtr2 it will be worth the wait.
I think GTR3 is mixed in with R3E, They showed the Ferrari 330/p4 race car first when they announced GTR3, but now they show it in the R3E screenshots and video's. That's shows the fact that they mixed it in, I just hope I'm wrong and that GTR3 is a stand alone game coming this fall.
By the way, I wouldn't count on it :(
I asked about GTR3 on the SimBin Facebook page and a developer responded saying that GTR3 will be its own game but that right now they are focussing their efforts on R3E.

While I do agree with you in theory, I play too many other games that aren't offered elsewhere. And unfortunately if STEAM folds so does my investment in those games. Games that I cherish as much as any of my racing games. However, when offered a choice with a game of no STEAM or STEAM why go it at all? Such as GTR2 that I already owned. I count on GTR2 when STEAM gets to mucking with Race 07! Now if STEAM wanted to go through a restructuring I wouldn't complain! My biggest problem is their no support, support feature!
P.S. I wouldn't hold my breath on GTR3! This topic is likely to survive longer!
I love Steam. All games in 1 location. No need to conserve the discs. When I'm tired of a game, just remove it, and install an other if disc space is limited. No discs in the pc anymore.
And playibng without internet conenction is possible, at least I've never had a problem.
I wish I had more games on Steam..
