O.K i was having like most problems with minor freezes resulting in lack of control / no control /gear changes missing etc. Well although i cant be 100 % sure this will resolve your control issues i would be surprised if it dosen't. O.k right click steam shortcut on desktop ( or exe in program files ) and then select compatibility tab and you will notice that steam starts in compatibilty mode for vista (i'm on w7) so i changed setting for all user's to w7 and bingo i have a most playable game:-D
