Can someone please refer me to a decent DiRT3 skinning guide? I'm a graphics designer and would like to see if I can contribute to the pool.

The tools you need are here (http://colinmcrae.110mb.com/dirt3_design-new-cars.htm) and you also need this (http://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop) plugin.

1. You use the PSSG editor to extract the textures from the car you are skinning
2. work on them in your photoshop program
3. save them in the format listed on the link with the DDS tool
4. inject them back into the PSSG
5. try them in game.

There's a program called DXTBmp that can import image files and convert them along with alpha channel to .dds (can also do the opposite). This works with Codemasters games but doesn't work with games that load .dds file directly like gMotor2 games.

I've never done Dirt2 and 3 but still working on Grid.
