I just got a new DFGT (well, my second one, since the first got replaced for a motor problem). i just noticed something about the brake pedal ad was wondering if it's the same for everybody:

- the brake pedal has to springs;
- in the case of my pedals, the one on the right (when looking through the pedal hole) has a bit of travel (downwards movement) until it makes contact with the plastic, and only after that the potentiometer begins to register the movement (see pic for better understanding).
- this way there is a 'free' pedal movement and and annoying clicking noise when contact is made.

Since I haven't noticed this with my first set of pedals, I was wandering if there's something missing there (shouldn't the spring be resting on the plastic?), or that is normal operation for this model. Would be very grateful for a quick answer since I'm on a 48 hour replacement policy on my electronics store.

my accelerator pedal has about 5mm of travel before the pentometre activates, that seems normal to me, it doesn't really make a click noise, but before I added a foam insert to stiffen the pedal, you could feel the pedal "engage" after the 5mm, if your worried, get another replacement set and try it. I don't think mine ever made really a sound beyond a slight 'pop' on engagement

Edit: took the foam out of both pedals, accelerator still does as I said, brake travels twice as much before it hits the stiffening spring, but pentometre engages very punctual. So you can try a replacement, or use foam on the brake pedal, with the foam it will kill the large dead space.

Getting a replacement is such a mess..my basic question is actually, if you can use a flashlight to look, does the spring on the right (black, thick one) actually rest on the plastic base, or does it travel (for about 5 mm as you mentioned) in the air and then makes contact?

Edit: just read your post once more and I believe you already answered..if it would make contact, then it wouldn't "hit the stiffening spring", right?

If it were possible, I'd stretch that spring until it made contact so I don't get that annoying pop sound but it's very stiff (I opened the case for a look-see)

dont stretch the spring, its kind of fragile. I suggest you do what I did, use some foam, a good stiff foam with alot of spring tension so you won't crush it down so easily, cut to fit and put under the pedals so when you press on them, the foam creates more resistence, it'll stiffen up the floppy pedals and make them feel a bit more 'proper'

Well, mine also moves a little bit beofre it touches the plastic, but there is no clicking sound and the potentiomenter registers movement before it touches the plastic.
You should get a replacement imo.

I've got a DFGT, never noticed any excess movement, never noticed any clicking, never noticed the brake pedal being too loose, in fact for me the brake pedal is perhaps too hard to press I'd rather it was as light as the throttle.
