Hi, first off thanks for taking the time to read this. I know helping out the newbie isn't always on your to do list! :)

Well I'm a huge sim racing fan however very new to PC gaming. I usually game on xbox 360 and WOW I've been missing out. I can't believe I never heard of this game when it came out on PC...I always check out racing games regardless of the format.

Anyways here are my questions. Keep in mind I game on a very high end PC. For example I can play Crysis with all settings set to HIGH.

I use the Xbox 360 Wireless racing wheel for this. Works great but there is no force feedback. I think it's because the wheel is not listed in the wheel control menu. Any fix here?

How can I download all tracks, mods etc all at once? I would like to install every single track and car and mod into this game. I would like to just have one large file I can download if possible?

Is there any more updates then the one from Dec. of 2006? Any way I can make the graphics look better besides the in game settings? Graphics are not a big deal but always a plus.

Last how do I install the new tracks I download? Just copy folder into the Locations folder?

Think that is all I have for now. Thanks for all the help!

For your wheels forceback google for XBCD drivers and you should find a page with them on. DL them, although they're primarily for the Xbox 360 controller (and the Xbox one) they work with my microcon 360 steering wheel and give force feedback so you should get it.

Probably won't be very good though.

I would strongly advise against installing any mods as one big lump - if there are problems its a lot easier to diagnose where the problem is if you've only added a single mod ;)

Graphics - apparently you can use HDR (or whatever it is called) to enhance the graphics, but I wouldn't know as I run GTR 2 using a nVidia Geforce GO 6100...

Tracks - yes these go in the locations folder. But not all of them come in the correct folders so it's always worth checking it, easiest way to know is if a track doesn't appear on the menu, it's not in the right folder, just move it around until it is...

If your wheel is not in the list you still should be able to choose just 'wheel' and enable force feedback manually. But it could be possible that you first need specific drivers.

As stated above, install mods one at a time and try whether it runs fine. Too many people have experienced problems, not knowing anymore what mods they installed since it last worked.
Add-on tracks come in compressed format, so you'll need to uncompress the archive first using, for example, 7-zip or WinRar. Usually, you'll then have a folder that bears the track name which you then copy into your GTR2/GameData/Locations folder. Sometimes add-on tracks are packed starting from the GameData folder, so when you unpack them you'll get a GameData/Locations/<trackname> folder tree. You can copy this whole tree to your GTR2 folder, or copy the <trackname> folder out of this tree into your GTR2/GameData/Locations folder.

If you have set all graphics options to max in the GTR2config utility and in the ingame video options, there's not much more that you can do. The only thing left is setting graphics quality options of your graphics card through its control panel. Enable AA (Anti-Aliasing) and AF (Anisotropic Filtering), and play around with other options like multisampling or supersampling to see if you like the improvement and if it doesn't impact performance too much. AA and AF should be set in your video card controls, not in the game (GTR2config.exe).
What video card are you using?

Oh, and if you're running a high-end PC and get >60FPS all the time (assuming that you're using a 60Hz LCD screen), turn on VSync in your video card control panel. When you do that, also enable triple buffering. You'll need a program like Direct3DOverrider to get this done for D3D games, check this thread (http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12527).

Does this xbox mod work with wireless receiver for windows? That is what I use to connect my wheel to PC, a xbox 360 wireless receiver for windows. I installed the program and I couldn't do anything when I loaded it. All functionality is grayed out.

Welcome to GTR2!

...quick question... are you already using the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows?

...with this device you can conect any of the wireless controllers made for the Xbox360 console to work with PC/Windows (works for Vista, not sure for XP), take a look:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360wirelessgamingreceiver/

Try some google search for comments/reports on it, it seems that at least with the Xbox360 gamepad the FFB works with it on PC, so it should be the same for the wireless wheel (?).

...for 20,00 bucks it might be worth it! :)

Could be that it's just for the wired controller then, I know it works for my controller, which is wired. Don't know for sure about the wireless version or the steering wheel, although I have an Xbox 360 wired steering and it works for that, so it could just be the wireless ones it won't work on.

Besides I thought that to get rumble on the xbox 360 controllers they need a power supply, and because they're not wired the wireless ones are not getting the power required so you don't get any rumble?

Yes that is what I am using, the wireless connect for windows. Works great. However it doesn't give full feedback. If I use it on Xbox 360 when playing Forza it works fully. The only force you get it the wheel requires more steering.

you do need to power it by pluggin into the wall and not using the battery packs. However it is still wireless. Make sense?
