My backup PC is a dualcore Athlon 64 and Im whipping the old CPU out to replace it with a quicker BlackSeries version to do some OC and have a bit of fun with. Its running WinXP by the way.
Problem is I tried to update the Bios of the ASUS M2-N SLi board I'm using and it just won't have it??
D/L the correct update and put it on a USB stick, reboot PC and get into tools to run the EZ boot bios tool,it see's the bios on the stick, ask's if I want to update,I say yes,......then nothing :-(
Tried different sticks, different Bios from the ASUS site,no matter what,it just won't have it??
I'm baffled,any ideas greatly appreciated ;-)

I just looked up the manual for your motherboard.

According to that, you have 4 options to update your BIOS, but only 1 of them will let you use a USB stick (but that is only to update a corrupt BIOS)

The instructions say to make a bootable DOS floppy.

1. Award BIOS - Updates in DOS with a bootable floppy
2. Asus Crash-Free BIOS 3 - Uses bootable USB, Floppy, or motherboard CD (to restore corrupt BIOS only)
3. Asus EZ Flash 2 - Updates in DOS from floppy or CD
4. Asus Update - Updates in Windows.

It seems the easiest way is to run the Asus Update Utility (in Windows), let it find your BIOS online, and then let it download and update.

The only thing I can think of is to find the jumper on your motherboard to reset the CMOS.

Once your BIOS is back to factory defaults, it might work?

Now that's an ideal thing! ;-) I'm going to contact ASUS and ask them for advice.
Thanks everybody for the help :-)
