View Full Version : 5 years and still getting better

I've been working for 5 years to promote the GTR24h event. And I poured my heart and soul into trying to make it a bigger and better event every year.

This year the race will be streamed through simrace.tv and big names in sim racing are showing up. I really hope this will be the year where we will have the most international teams.

But is is hard these days, trying to get the attention of the sim racing community. Angry admins banning and deleting posts is common. And that is the thanks and reward that we get, for trying to give the community the best sim racing event we possibly can. I don't believe there is anything quite like GTR24h anywhere else in the world.

You can find info on http://www.gtr24h.dk

Really? And admins of course get angry because of nothing. Just because they feel like it. I see. Are all those cars on that poster authorized conversions or scratch-built cars? Hm?

Would you know if you have not asked?

Or are you to busy picking down on people trying HARD to give the best experiences to the community?

Do you think we do this for money? Fame? Respect?

No, we do it to have fun racing! I cannot possible see how you can feel good about yourself by picking on people, who just try to give you the opportunity to have a good time?

Thanks for the support.

Why am I picking on you, please explain? It seems to me that you started lashing out first towards admins being so incredibly unfair, and you're just the so-called innocent victim?

Does "trying HARD to give the best experiences to the community" give you the right to steal content from other games? How about respect for the game devs who "try to give you the opportunity to have a good time", and depend on the respectful behaviour of the game players to make a living?

Don't hide behind "I'm doing something good for the community" to justify not having to adhere to rules or show respect to people you don't personally know. It's not cool.

And you assume I am talking about the admins here, because you, yourself think No Grip have the most dastardly admins?

Again you assume things. You never bothered to ask, so you assume no one else does? You just steal a copyrighted image from Porsche and use it in you profile, because you think it is OK, since you found it on a Google image search? And then you think everyone else just steals?

Redi, I challenge you to not write anything anywhere on the web, with a negative tone, for a week. And if you think something is wrong or needs correcting, you can say it, but you need to accompany it with at least one possible solution. Sounds like a hard challenge?

If you refer in your very first posting to 'angry admins' in general then yes I feel spoken to, is that strange, being a forum moderator? What I think about NoGrip's admins is not really important, but since I'm in the NoGrip staff I think that you can figure out whose side I'm on ;)

But besides all that, if admins get angry with you you must have done something to spark that anger. Sure there are a few self-absorbed folks out there, but if you start referring to angry admins out of the blue then maybe it's a good idea to give a little background, to prevent discussions like these ;)

I'm not assuming anything. You are avoiding the question about the possibly converted cars in your advertisement and going into a defensive position telling me how good you are for the community (which by all means you are if you're putting so much effort into organizing things, provided you stick to the rules). If all of my 'picking on you' is wrong, why don't you say so instead of coming up with evasive answers? I have no problems with offering apologies if I'm wrong.

You just steal a copyrighted image from Porsche and use it in you profile, because you think it is OK, since you found it on a Google image search? And then you think everyone else just steals?
Maybe you're right that strictly speaking no-one can use these Porsche pictures without the approval of Porsche. Still, first of all using a picture of a car for a forum avatar won't lose that car company any money, while ripping car models from a game so that people can use it in another game without having to buy the original game is losing the original game maker money. That's quite a significant difference. Secondly, because someone else seems to be 'stealing' something, does that make your stealing OK? We were talking about your stuff first, so don't change the subject ;)

Hmmm I'm missing the point of this a bit. Why should I do this? I'm a forum moderator, if people need a :nono: then they get it. No need to be all hippy about that, we've seen already what that leads to... ;)
If something needs correcting, it needs to be done. If that is perceived to be using 'a negative tone', then I think that that is more of a problem at the perceiver side than on my side. Besides, despite the need of being strict in certain areas, I think I'm pretty easy-going.

The writeup in the link given above seems to indicate that the race is going to be run in person as a sort of convention in Denmark. You really think that there are enough GTR2 racers out there able and willing to set aside a weekend to travel to Denmark, given only 2 1/2 week's notice?

14 cars out of 24 are signed up. Anywhere between 5 and 15 teams still rumoured to show up.
We only chose GTR2 because of the full random weather / night / day support. Besides GTR2 runs rock stable in a LAN setup.

Seriously, people, it would be and look better if you let the OP carry on with his thread instead of making fun. Anyone still hanging on to GTR2 events should deserve your respect.

Cheers
PS: to be clear, I am not referring to you, Redi (on the making fun aspect).

Quote Lutz Enger: "This is the best sim racing event ever. I couldn't even point out a single thing that could have done better".

People! We didn't need you at this event. This was an offer to you, to participate in something great.
