View Full Version : The mighty 427 Cobra on Donington

Pero_Grozni
16 April 05, 14:14
This is another just for fun race this season.

The race venue will be Donington we will have a short hotlapping event.

Car: We will drive the new 427 Cobra by YorT. Get it here (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=719)
It is allready fully compatible with the TT realmod so should not be any problems with the car installation. Best is that you do a normal TT realmod install and than just install the Cobra. It overwrites the spot 18 car(Alfa Giulia FTC) again so be sure to install the realmod first and only after that the track and the car.

Stage: Donington by MudSnow get it here (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=570)
You should have the Realmod and the car installed first, than install the tarmac version of the Nurby and than install the package from MudSnow. Best is you check the readme for full details.

Rules:
We will use the usual RULES.
TT Realmod2005 is mandatory-get it here (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=671)
The competition starts on Saturday 16.4.2005 at 16:30 CET
The competition will stop on Sunday 17.4.2005 at 22:00 CET [/color]
You can check the time here (http://www.worldtimezone.com/).

Good luck and have fun
BTW: So that everyone knows this is a short hotlapping event-you can do as many runs as you want, but you must do them in hte time limmit. The leaderboard will be updated regulary.

not very clean driving, hard to keep all wheels on the pavement
I used highest gearing and didn't come near Pero's 260kmph

YorT
16 April 05, 21:13
The straights aren't long enough to get to those speeds.

Top speed of this beast is 165MPH

Uhh, Donington is the track replacing Russia1  , right?

That's right! But you have to install Rogers Nuerburgring, too, because Donington uses some of it's textures (please read the readme of Mudsnow for installing-hints).

I am not quite shure about the 6:10:12-replay of LethalOatmeal and the chicane in lap1. It is something like a shortcut, but I think, because simply being to fast and missing the entrance. I would tend to say, it is valid in this case, but I am shure, you will do annother, faster and cleaner one.
To avoid discussions about cutting corners, simply don't do it, Gentlemen!

Have missed last weeks race with the "small-block"-Cobra - so here's my revenge and a first challenge for the asphalt-specialists:
4:48:65 :ace:

Good luck and much fun in this competition,
Ralph.B

BTW: accidentially uploaded a wrong file, corrected it at once, but somebody was faster with downloading - sorry, guy!

Here is my attempt, as best as I could do.

My first run

5:46.40 :ace:
With beasts

Should be a close race this time :)

Zieman
17 April 05, 10:16
I checked your replay, Pero, seems perfectly ok  .
Of course I can't say a thing concernig physics, but otherwise - by all means, update the Leaderboard!

I learned a LOT watching the replay...

Rallyfan
17 April 05, 11:25
My time now is 6.12.87, and that's after 5 runs, i can still improve so i won't upload my replay yet.

But the improvement of my time can get very hard, because it's almost impossible to drive this car with a keyboard

Ralph_B
17 April 05, 11:43
Well, have updated the leaderboard with your time and set you on 1th, Pero. But no time to rest in peace, mate! You know, asphalt-roadtracks are the only roads I have any chance to beat you - so let's have a battle of the giants of RT now. I am curios, who of the other bigboys can follow this time. Will be hard for the keyboard-champions to master the immense power of this monster.

5:44:43 :D

Greetings,
Ralph.B

I am coming to get you Ralph

Here we go

5:44.34 :ace:
With beasts and a challange to you Ralph

We do have quite different driving styles, but the times come out basicly the same :P

Ralph_B
17 April 05, 15:26
That wasn't quite unexpected, Pero! Hot run, indeed, but still not fast enough, sorry mate. What about cutting annother two seconds? Was able to do it, but now I think, not much space for improvement left.

5:42:41 :jester:

RedRacer
17 April 05, 15:36
Back on track - not compareable with those crazies like Pero and Ralph, but I am a bit proud, that I am able to bring that beast around the track without an accident. :)

6:10:32

Cheers,
Sigrid

Have updated the leaderbord, but someone of the Mods should check my replay and confirm, if it is valid, please.
And ey, where are those other brave knights to tame the beast? Our fast Lady here could master it - so shame on you if you don't! ;)

Cheers,
Ralph

HEHE

5:42.37 :ace:

How about that for a close race. What do you think Ralph-can we go a couple of seconds faster yet.

And your time is valid of course Ralph(checked it).

kiplali
17 April 05, 17:29
A couple of wide run offs on 3rd lap, not sure if permitted.

6.05.33

Animals off.

Kiplali

Pero_Grozni
17 April 05, 17:39
It is ok Kiplali
You didnt do any deep intentional cutting and the off's are only damaging to the time so your time is allowed.
We wouldnt allow times that are deliberate cutting(chicane...) as that way you could gain a lot of time.

We have a nice close set of battles BTW
I sure hope some more guys can join in

Zieman
17 April 05, 17:41
Hee-hee :D

Time to set an upper boundary: 6:18:44 - if you can't beat this, you suck  !

Animals on. :elephant:

Haven't got the patience for this race, it keeps crashing to desktop on 2nd time through the chicane (I've got a new graphic card but I seem to remember it was a bit unstable on the old one too).

HEHE

Sorry, I don't think so. Not today and in this race anymore. Did a couple of attempts, was slightly faster two times, but then threw it away in the last hairpin! :banghead: Now lost concentration and have to give the last remaining hour to my wife for improving her laptime. So if not one of our nightmares (Tith, Tec, Watanen, PPI ...) of last season appear, it is your triumph! Was a great and close race - I only hope, you don't say: "I've a replay in by backhand, which is annother two seconds faster!" :P

Even this isn't a team-oientated competzition - TT RULEZ!!!! ;)

Cheers,
Ralph

Damn! :OMG:

Ran out of time! :banghead:

I know I can do a lot better than my current time, only need to drive three good laps in a row, usually I make a stupid mistake on second or third lap :( ...

-Sigh-

Maybe next time.

Knew it. Missed it. I'm gonna have some out of competition runs tomorrow morning :o . I did notice that some other drivers ran out of time. For me personally it would be a lot better if competitions could start at friday evening about 22:00 till sunday evening 22:00. Two days to do what the rules force you to do. Some opinions would be nice

I might have improved my time about 10 secs at best

But I do hope I will be able to really compete (not losing by 15-30 sec :) )with you in the future
