View Full Version : Me going sideways!
Hope you don't mind, but I thought you might like to see some photos of me going sideways! :D
For my 18th Birthday, all my family gave me money to have a day at a rally school, which I went to last Sunday. I spent most the time doing whats in the photos, going sideways in Mk II Escorts around a training track.
I also got to drive a 300 hp Escort Cosworth around a stage, which was just awsome power over 3,000 rpm (Note, the instructor had a brake pedal his side, and its a good job he did, I almost went over the edge around one hairpin!)
At the end the instructor took me for a competition speed ride around the stage in another Escort Cosworth which hes made RWD. He's done over 21,000 rides around the stage, and you just can't comprehend how fast he goes around there, one of the most amazing experiences of my life!

Great pictures.
:trophy:
I sure would like the same kind of present for my birthday

Yeah he got scared!
Well actually, the instructors spent most the time out the cars. In fact our very first go was by ourselves! They sat in a few times and told you the lines to take, and when to power and feather the throttle, and they also drove the car for a couple of laps and explained what they were doing with you sat in, but most the time we were driving with no one in the car!
wow great, must be really fun.
Last Sunday I was at a unpublic-road for beginners to learn driving. It was really fun, especially driving fast around the corners was great, think I am already infected by the rally-virus  . But that was nothing against your sideways.
Wish I would get same present for my 18. birthday (less then a month).
But as my present I get most of the driving license paid.
And from my grandma and grandpa I get a bit money, and I already know, what I will with the money.
I hope to get a ride in this nice Alfasud (my father knows the owner of the car well) at the 500km-Race at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.
It's OT, but btw, here's some information about the race, where I will hopefully start next year or in 2 years with the help of the money of my grandparents. http://www.youngtimer.de/fileadmin/user_upload/youngtimer/2005/yt2005_egons500/Starterliste.pdf
Really nice, isn't it. If you are from Germany, Belgium or the Netherlands and you are interested in historical motorsports, it is a must have..

That's pretty neat. :)
BlaBla, do you have to be 18 in Germany to drive? I've already been driving a year on the roads, and on my farm in fields since I was able to reach the pedals! But driving a RWD is very different to driving FWD!
That is a very, very nice looking Alfa, what spec is it? I really like the look of the older Alfas, including the Sprint. I would love to ride around the Nürburgring, amazing track! Good luck!
You are lucky to have your grandparents backing, I had to buy my car myself, but my parents paid for the insurance which was more than the car initially!
I've also had a ride around a stage in my friends dad's Escort Mk II which has a 2.4 Millington, about 270 bhp! Absolutely awesome! :OMG:

Great pictures,
I wonder if there is something like that in my area of Canada. I would love to attend Rally school, and I have been thinking about it alot lately. I will have to look around on the net.
Looks like fun.
You are very lucky.

Having been born, raised and taught how to drive in Canada, I practically learned to rally drive in the snow on regular roads. lol :)
