I dont read alot of forums but i thought i might introduce a discussion here for us guys that drive P&G, you know, as some sort of comparison to the rFactor mod. I assume we can compare the recent rfactor release to this one?

At this stage i find it to be a pretty inspiring drive..The only thing that has let me down with the mod so far has been when i click on the TV screen(when in the pits)...like in rfactor to get the full screen.. like click on the replay in the box.
I get this weird pitstop texture+ video overlay..but once i push enter i get the lovely full screen vid.

Anyway i trust that some of you guys here have had a small or big part to play in the wonderful rFactor mod.
And also wanted to say that maybe the rfactor net code + this mod is something interesting to look at

I suppose you could make a comparison to HistoriX and PnG... But just remember, Part 1 of PnG is just a warm up :-D

I enjoy the hell out of the both of them... I wont lie, HistoriX really seems to look and especially SOUND nicer, but PnG still has it beat on the feel and physics front... also, as explained many times before, Power and Glory has accurate tire and brake physics *for the 1960s*. HistoriX is like GTL in that it uses modern interpretations of tires and brakes, like you'd find racing at today's Vintage Motorsports events.

Both are excellent in their own right for different reasons. I won't lie to you that right now I'm enjoying the hell out of HistoriX while PnG collects dust, but that's just because I'm waiting for the next update. :D

Well, if we think that GTLW have only released less than one third of the P&G project, with the TC60's carset, two Porsches 911, a Jag E-type, a Lotus Elite and a Triumph TR4 (that wasn't really finished), to have the two mods directly compared already can only be a good sign for P&G then. :)

...it's curious you mention the sounds in that way, as I've heard repeatedly exactly the opposite... one more proof that it's like they say, "different strokes for different folks" and "can't please them all". ;) hehe

I still say, if I want modern historicals, I'll have the original GTL anyday but that's just my own opinion (I'm also not a fan of rFactor myself -for many different reasons- tbh). ...though that doesn't detract on the good job I think these guys did.

What really turns me down with GTR2 and GTL is the Simbin FFB.Don't get me wrong,rFactor's FFB is even worse but with RealFeel or a mix of RealFeel and Leo's FFB mod there isn't really a comparison. With these two rF is plain better.
Then again,as DucFreak said "different strokes for different folkes" so it's just my opinion.

Very true - you will never get two people to agree especially on force feedback. RealFeel for me is terrible compared to Simbin force-feedback :)

And in the same vein I think its good that HistorX offers something very different to GTL in terms of physics - there are people who don't like GTLs physics. But after 3 years of driving GTL I guess I'm stuck in my ways and I prefer the challenge of the original.

Exactly!

In rFactor's HistoriX I use all FFB settings (controller.ini) provided in the manual including RealFeel settings and I find it to be rocking my world!
At first (when I only got rF) I didn't like RealFeel at all but when I discovered how to tweak it to my liking including tweaking the controller.ini I had a revelation.

Pretty much the same opinion as David here.

...rFactor fans can all praise it, even brain-wash others with the FFB plug-ins in RFactor (such as RealFeel and Leo's FFB, combined or not)... after THIS (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=8659), it's somewhat redundant and kind of a poor excuse to go for rFactor (itself already missing plenty features) instead of SimBin sims.

SimBin/Blimey FFB is undoubtfully, and originally, one of the best FFB in racing-sims yet (IMHO right next to NK-Pro, didn't try iRacing yet), with that it can now be made even better and suitable to anyone's needs with some simple tweaking (endless combinations), ones that should work universally with all mods/cars (therefore far less complicated to explore and better results than RealFeel/Leo's to me, as good as those are), near perfection for that IMO.

So we all agree that we disagree. All is good here.

Indeed. Make no mistake, I'm still PnG Fanboy #1, and will spend a ridiculous number of hours playing when 2.0 is finally released... Until then, HistoriX is my crack cocaine...

Historix is still a modern FIA GT Historix. They are 2004 - 2006, plus lemans and fictional series. PnG is based on old school car physics. The brakes on Historix is horendous. 85% on and still lock it up on my momo. Hope they fix that soon. I love PnG for the fact that you feel the front wheels hop as you hit the brakes too hard in the Stang. Wicked. hah.. Historix have done a grand job. Oneproblem I found was you cannot load it up in the All Cars All Tracks v3, it doesnt load up the mas files. Very sad. Can race fine onthe mod alone, but cannot in combination with other mods. Hope this wasnt on purpose.:crying:

Before I sprout my wisdom, I will be having a play with the Histrox, I have downloaded it but my key for rFactor is blocked as used 3 times (GRRRRR), but it will be a "play" in the real sense of the word.
If I can't power slide the ol' Mustang, WHAT'S THE POINT! *lol*
As to sim racing I have found in my short experience that the league/group MAKE the sim, but I'm sure I am only preaching to the converted here.

I have great fun with a bunch of mates once a month playing V8 Supercars 3 and Flatout 2, but compared with GTL, GTR2, Rfactor, they are crap games.
So yes it is the people You race with that make the Sim.

The only reason I suspected a link between Historx and P&G is because I am sure the wording they used where they tell You that You have to use the GTL disc is very similar.
But the fact that they are separate only makes this better IMHO.

Having jumped back into P&G after trying out historix for a few days I have to say that the sounds in P&G are far superior to the historix as far as my ears are concerned.

As for rfactors ffb I have never really taken to realfeel. I copied GTLs ffb controller ini component into my rfactor controller ini and like the feel of that, I also like the heavy steering feel that leos ffb gives when stationary, I think that it depends on the mod you are driving.:?:

How fortunate we are to have so many hard choices to make:-D (and to have good people to race with!)
