gone is the need for the realfeel mod, replaced by some of the cleanest, most communicative force feedback I have ever experienced... The road is translated into your hands in a wholly convincing manner...

wow what a statement- at what specs do they run their machines...still, wow
good article- it is almost throwing every other sim into the not possible to compete.
and as far as it goes Rfactor does have a big hammer to fight with.

He seems to like it, a lot.

Sounds really good but as always i will reserve judgement until i drive it for myself! For sure reading that article has built some anticipation for the beta though.

I'll have to wait until my hangover goes, I am making my headache worse peering at the tiny tiny lettering! From what little I read though, sounds very promising

I was impressed with the magazine format. I gave up reading online mags cuz it took half and hour to dload then you had scroll through pdf pages without skipping two or three pages with a heavy mouse hand. The mag came right up and the close-up option and horizontal scrolling was very clean and intuitive.

AutoSimSport has come a long way, I still have a dream that I will see it in soft cover form in a newsagent near me

If only they can change the name of the magazine. I assume that ASS is meant tongue-in-cheek. But it detracts from the magazine as a whole.

I hate this format The text is too small and if I hit the magnifying glass it either closes or zooms in so much all I can see is the top line filling the whole screen.

Sounds a lot more promising than pCARS which still currently has lifeless, tacky feeling FFB and arcade physics in most cars. ;-)

The physics are in a more advanced state in rFactor 2 because of how much rFactor 1 contributed to it and it's development state. The physics in pCARS are quite good overall (hard to drive does not equal realistic, necessarily) but it's also in a much earlier state.

In pCARS, most of the cars are in a very early state with placeholder physics, a soon-to-be-replaced tire model, and placeholder FFB. Even with all that Ben Collins is impressed so I feel good about that future.

It seems like rFactor 2 will nail physics out of the gate (and the revamped mod system that is SO necessary) but I wonder with all these other games coming out this year (GTR3, pCARS, Assetto Corsa, et al) if it might lag a bit by not nailing everything (graphics/immersion/visual realism). I'll be trying it though, for sure!

Thanks but that doesn't work either, I've got it from their web site now.

I think as long as RF2 nails the physics in all racing, dirt, tarmac, rally etc then the majority of us will be happy with DX9 suped up graphics. A more definitive mod system is needed of course, but as long as they dont stuff it up like Evo and its ID system and lack of Admin dedicated server commands. If Simbin did that right, Evo would of eaten RF1 alive. Weather, Hands (for the majority) Night racing, dynamic tyre structures and a good damage/wear model is all the sim racer could really ask for. FPS is crucial to Sim Racing, so RF2 may have a winner by sticking with DX9 in order to bring everything else to the table that they are offering. Yes DX11 is pretty, but all Racing games I have seen so far offering it, just don't cut the grade as far as multiplayer and physics go.

But if RF2 do not bring the physics to the table, then yes alot will move onto GTR3 on release as I am yet to find a better sim that offers better FFB and feel straight out of the box than EVO. Of course my opinion is nothing in the grand scheme of things haha.

Ben Collins recieves cash no doubt for his expert opinion so I don't give any creedence to anything he says about physics.

Being placeholders or not, the current physics leave an awful lot to be desired. Currently appearing to be set to full on arcade mode.

The major thing that current sims lack, aside from what you mentioned, but IMHO are even more important is marbles build up offline and water/oil spills from accidents and blown engines. The physics need a tweak, sure, but realism extends way beyond that.
