According to the GDB file, this track accommodates 52 cars!
But I don't think the NoGrip server will handle that many so it may be limited to 32 or so. First come, first served.

10 July 08, 20:06
Can I make a reservation? :)
No reservations possible. It's purely first come first served onto the server on the night, even for me.
And as mentioned above, the server will be limited to 32 cars.

Just tried to enter NoGrip server and typed "wnr" for password and it sais that it is a bad password. What schould i do?
Corvettes are excellent fun to drive. Would you prefer Alfas? You can race one if you want, but everyone else will be ion Corvettes.
Server is currently set for the Sunday league, so won't be available until late on Sunday evening.
The big block Corvette is the most enjoyable GTC76 car to drive. Yes, it's a complete bastard, but that's why it's so much fun !

Yeah Corvette is a very nice car to drive when you get used to it and to the track.

Will this race be with the game default '76 Corvettes or the defaults plus all the downloadable '76 Vette skinjobs from NoGrip?
Only the two default Corvettes are allowed.

Default cars only, no skins.
It just makes it simpler and more reliable.

Yes, as long as there are no corners, no bumps, no hills, no rumble strips and no grass anywhere on the track, they are great fun to drive;-)
Those two tight corners just before the long back straight need to be negotiated carefully.
did some practice. nice track and the corvette realy streaches its muscels here. my pb so far is 1'28'1. whars ur pb time?
1:31 and something till now. must check the handbrake

11 July 08, 15:07
i think a 1.28xxx is pretty rapid! if u can do that every lap without going off then thats impressive. ive only managed a 1.31 in the green one and a 1.32 in the red. i think im prefering the red vette, even though its a bit slower.
another great car/track combo
my guess is that the alien racers here will make 1'26 laps maybe even 1'24. as for me i wiill try to make it into the 1'27 area :-).i made a 7 lap race and my lap time was 1'30 avearage
did 1:29.9 . but only once.:-). so far iam the slowest in field so there will be somebody with a time around 1:26:laugh:
Only the two default Corvettes are allowed.
i got about 6-7 vettes and i haven't downloaded any skins or add-on cars.
i only downloaded that cheat for unlocking all the cars, does this have anything to do with ?
i checked the download section and none of the vettes matches with the "extra" ones i got
i think i have a us version of the game maybe that's got something to do with it
my mistake i was looking at my '65 vettes and got confused
1:28.1 is very fast. I have just done about 15 laps, and my best time so far is 1:29.567. Those two left handers after the crests are annoying, and I'm scared to death whenever I pass through the tight section just before the long back straight.
If you can keep the car on the track for the entire race whilst maintaining that kind of pace, you'll win by a country mile.
1:34's are my best so far :(
Stugglingto drive the vette quickly enough as well. I have noticed that smooth is the way with this one too
Anyone got tuning tips? so far I'm running a stiff back end, soft front with lots of toe in and caster
Also am I right in thinking that a mius value in the toe fields is toe out and positive value is toe in?
Jon

Mid 1:26 range, maybe a low 1:26 is the limit. Below 1:26 would be something special.
Jon,
As with most of these hairy-arsed cars, slower is faster. Drive it smoothly and concentrate and your lines. If you're sliding it around then you are loosing time.
You have a similar setup to mine, although I am far from an expert in setups. I have front springs full soft, rear springs full hard; front ARB full hard, rear ARB full soft; max castor; lots of -ve camber. I usually leave the diff, dampers and toe settings at default on most cars because I don't really notice much difference in performance from them. The only thing I fiddle with is tyre pressures. I just try get the basic balance about right and then concentrate on driving what I've got.
I believe your toe assumptions are correct.

I just hate this car, end of. Be a great circuit in something that liked corners. 1st clean lap was a 1.31.2, so 28's would be good pace in the race.

12 July 08, 08:20
My personal best is only 1:29,1 . But i'm looking to improving my time somewhere close to amirm9s time.
I can't do any better than 1:29.190 at the moment. I think I'll just have to concentrate on keeping the car on the track, because it doesn't look like I'll be anywhere near the front of the grid.
just play with the setup a bit more and you do under 1:29.190. i did :whistling:
i dowloaded a set up for the vette from the online files in game and did my pb with it after tweaking it a bit. how can i attach this set up to my post.?
i put my set up in game. go to on line files mosport . its called 1'28'1 let me know what time u did with it plz:thumbup:
That's assuming that your setup suits my style of driving. Getting a fast time isn't quite as simple as using someone else's setup.

I haven't even practised yet! lol
amirm9,
I would like to thank you for posting that setup online. As you know, my best time was 1:29.190, so I decided to try your setup.......
1:28.357 on the FIRST LAP !!!
It seems that your setup uses long gears. Am I correct ?

Did a 1:29.109 on my 5th lap on track, so I think I can get into the mid 1:27's/low 1:28's.
I'm attaching my setup here:

12 July 08, 18:40
Well, my PB is 1:27.912, with my own setup :rolleyes:
Almost all I can do, my max would be a low 1:27. (1:27.3-4 ish?)
The total combined Horsepower for 32 cars if the server fills on Wednesday with all green big-blocks=18208. Maybe we can all combine and launch into space! :p
I tried Vette few laps. I think below 1:28 would be great qually. Maybe 1:29 consistent. The track itself is quite nice and flowing. Im Trying to find dome time for the race on sunday.
Hope to see ya there.

I assume you based it on the one called "corv wh 1,26,5". It's a very stable setup and capable of some very fast times, but has far too much front brake bias for my liking. It's not too different from my setup, but mine's a bit looser. Strangely, after running a few laps with your setup, I went back to my original setup and immediately set a new pb.
Given a clear track at the end of qualifying I think it may just about be possible to squeeze a 1:25 from it.

Then does that mean you're already in the low 1:26's? :whistling:
I keep losing all my fastlaps in the last corner...lol, I get loose on exit and *smack wall* turns a 1:27.3 hint hint into a 1:27.9 hint.

mosport is a fantastic track...I was there recently for a vintage racing festival
you guys should make sure you get the texture update, it looks much better ingame...plus I redid the cameras, the original ones were problematic
I get the feeling that the low lap time with that setup has more to do with the long gears than anything else. I'm going to try long gears with my own setup, and see what happens.
EDIT: The front brake bias seems to make a difference.

Hi guys! I want to ask you what is a good toe-in seting for corvette here at Mosport?
I don't pay much attention to front toe settings. I think its waste of time to try anything else than -0.2, -0.1 or 0. I used -0.1 on sunday.

D'nt worry about the alien-times.
I also can't drive faster than 1:31- 1:32
Keeping the car on the tack and don't lose a spoiler, that could be a key. :-)
OK OK!
Now i cnow what is the key for thath time!
I use a wrong car.. hehee;-)
There is 2 cars... one is more powerful than the first...
Now i use the car with 25x powerhorse... that is the key!
And my time is now 1.29...
Without trining...
cu all!:-D
And thankx @michael109
Maybe we can repeat that little battle we had at Donington National last night, arpix :-)
HI @Mogg!
Maybe but i hope that i finish the race! I newer finish the Ligue races...
Olwais some trubles...
Cu Mogg!
It's worth noting that, even though I was driving on my own for 99% of the race on Sunday (and therefore not having to worry about crashing into another car), I never lost control of my own Corvette for the entire 30 laps.
Respect @Mogg!: "I never lost control of my own Corvette for the entire 30 laps."
I will thry too and have fun!:-)
duhhh...i really dont feel the car and the track, unable to go around safely - not fast, just safe - so im afriad i'll miss this fun, dont wanna make troubles.

3 laps + 5 laps + wrecked each race + suspension failure =Two of my worst races ever.
1:26.9 first race qualy.
1:26.8 second race qualy.
I can't believe it. I'm about to quit racing...I've always had better races on public servers than that. Nothing against NG, but Michael, Dawe....thx for the bull crap.
no comment...total wreckage
that was my worst 2 races..EVER, including the C64 times with pit stop 2
Race 1:
Great fight during the qualify, finally I got to the 2nd place on the grid. We had a very good race with Joel, I was a bit faster but made a few more mistakes as well, so I could not win after 3 spins in the end, came in 2nd.
Race 2:
Pole position with a PB time of 1:26.3, but right after the start perhaps I was hit from the back and fell out with suspension problems. :crying:
Great fun, though! :thumbup::twisted:
Checked the replay, I made it on my own, stuck into the flat wall. :) Nice bug.

Bad races today
Both races to many crashes at start.
First race was side by side with beep, brake early, and sorry beep but look to replay, there was no chance for me to avoid the hit.
After that I quit the race :-(
Second race I was kiked out by LuisGoi, crash and out.
Thanks for frustration
That was WNR to brake a habit
Two dissapointing races tonight, after getting a PB in Qually for race 1 my connection went AWOL and could not rejoin before the start of the race. For race 2 I started near the back of the grid just happy to get a run and was caught up in a the first lap incident being hit by a car flying across the track about 2 foot off the ground. That took out the front splitter and so I just steadily drove the bag of potatoes to the finish line finishing 6th. lets hope for better luck next week!
Woody
BeepBeep2 if you not brakeing to stop that corner i1m not hit you maan i brake as hard as i can but you "stopped", overreving my car to not hit you thinking before you write something....but if you not belive me see the replay from my wiew...and im sad sorry for that man so be ... so thinking.

the picture sais it all...
I joined only the first race. In the very first lap I underestimated the grip in the cold tires and run wide, but not off the track. Nevertheless that caused two other cars to run off the track. I only saw one car going off the track because of my actions. I didn't see that I also caused problems to you Arpix. Later I checked that this was the case. That was the reason I waited the other car to recover but did not wait for you. Sorry for all troubles Arpix!
Later in the race I had long battle with one of the new guys (I don't remember the name). I admit that I was running a bit too close to that guy and caused two offs to him. But I think we didn't lose any placings and I always waited for him.
Also he ones "closed the door" while I was trying to overtake him on the long straight. I was running exactly beside him. If I wouldn't have hit the brakes I would have been on the grass or united with the cement wall.
Well anyway I'm sorry for my mistakes, and will be more careful next time. Especially while driving one particular green car. :)

Well i have studied the first races first laps replay and at the first turn L4DE werent careful enough (its quite tight there in the first turn) and hit the back of evo9 and then everything gone very bad (how bad we all can see in a screen shot taken by Wizerdrix). The crash in turn 3 between front runners was caused by Jukelis slightly outbraking for the corner and taking out on the grass two fellows racers. So i wish for everyone to be more careful in the first laps while the tires and brakes are cold and beter luck next time everyone. ;-)

17 July 08, 11:23
Sorry, Michael, but I don't agree with you. In the braking point we were side by side, so, you should have given me same space. You don't. You tried to keep the position in a risk way in that moment and had no luck. That's how I see the incident. Watch the replay and tell me what you think about it.
After that I did a very good race. The battle with Sawyer and E9 on the final made the night worth. Thank's guys.
The first race was the worst race I've done ever. Lots of mistakes. But the second, was good and funny. BTW ,I did my PB on the second qualy, 1:27.0. Sorry, Mogget :-)
can someone upload the replay of the 2 races?
btw the 2nd race was nice although the front splitter on my car was broken. had a good fight with sawyer i think and also with luis goi. goi you made a brilient pass on me which i had no answer to it. i tried to pass u next corner, hit the throttle too much and then the car highsided hit the wall slightly and lost the front splitter. lucky for me goi u lost it 2 corners later and then i cruised to the finish in 2nd place with sawyer giving me a hard time behind.
hope that next time everybody will be more careful at the start.
Well, that was a disappointing night's racing. I qualified 6th on the grid in race 1 with a time exactly one hundredth of a second outside my PB. I made a smooth start, and was in 6th or 7th place through T1. Unfortunately, I made the same mistake as Jukkelis at T3, and I paid a much higher price. I slid off onto the grass, and hit the barrier broadside. I didn't think that it would have caused so much damage, but after waiting for every car to pass before getting back onto the track, it was clear that there was serious damage to the gearbox. The car was revving high and hardly moving at all, so I was forced to make an early retirement :-(
I qualified 5th on the grid in race 2 with another time very close to my PB. Once again, I made a smooth start, but a couple of guys to the left of me weren't so fortunate. One swerved away from me to the left of the track, but then another came sliding right in front of me. I hit him, and my car did a lovely little pirouette as it flipped up onto the radiator grille. This was followed by a backflip over the pit wall, where I landed upside down ! To add insult to injury, I then had to drive slowly to the exit before I could accelerate in pursuit of the pack.
Unfortunately, my suspension was damaged, and the car was pulling to the right. Strangely, that resulted in more difficulty at right hand bends than left hand ones.....
Anyway, I was behind Luis Goi for the next two or three laps. Presumably, he had encountered difficulties of his own. We passed a couple of guys who very kindly drove off the track as we approached  The car was slightly more difficult to handle than normal, but not bad enough to use as an excuse for what happened next. In short, I messed up at the end of the back straight. I just clipped the grass on the left side of the track, and lost the ability to brake ! I went flying across the sand, and smashed into the barrier head on. The car burst into flames, so I waited until the fire was out and the black smoke had cleared. Then I walked back to the pits.
What a disaster :-(

Yep, no good for me either, although I did improve my speed a bit.
Quit out of race 1 due to the damage from the start making the car very difficult to drive. Race 2 got a decent start and due to others misfortune found myself in 2nd place:ohmy:. Was pulling away from 3rd and felt like 2nd was in the bag, but I then binned it all by myself, allowing 3rd to catch me, and then I binned it again, resulting in a dead car. For big, bad yank tanks, these things are very fragile.....
Anyway, next week can't be so bad, can it?.....:?::ohmy:;-)
1. race was ok for me. succesfully avoided every huge crash:whistling::-D. made some mistakes of my own:banghead: but finished 5th i think.
2.race: huge mess on the start . got thru somehow:whistling: making laps with my ussual addons (spins, picking flowers , playing in the sand .....)4 or 5 laps to finish went of the track heading to the edge of the barrier:eek::scared: . tried to avoid it so i found my self behind the wall. then i get DQ because i was driving backwards for to long.:banghead::cursing:stupid idea driving backwards :cursing: i have not tried the reset car key:cursing:
There should be intermediate gravel/tarmac tires available for this kind of events. Maybe big bumpers all around the car as well.

Maybe straight or oval track for these giant V8 cars... Extreme power, no brakes, no corner speed, easy to fail. On a track like this... I decided not to participate in this race, I knew it was gonna happen. I have never driven Corvette before, and I was completely sure that im not able to control the car 100%. But good news is, I dont have to apologise from 5 guys I hit :D
see u next race
It was tough to drive it at Virginia too, but I still enjoyed it.

Congrats Mr & Mrs Epic from me , too :-)
Beginning that year I started online racing because I found here at WNR fair drivers, friendly speaking and much fun.
But now that spirit has gone.
There is no championchip, no points, no prices, nothing to win than fun.
But now the spirit is away, away, here I come, overtaking at all costs, no regards, no waiting after accident.
So Ill take a time out here, because thats not my way.
Sorry, Michael, but I don't agree with you.
I watched the replay and I saw you behind me in the corner. I had no sight to you and you had ervery chance avoiding the hit on my car.

You absolutely excelled yourself mate. Have you been taking tips off me?.....:-P
To Michael, and anyone else who feels agrieved. It is true to say that wednesdays seem to have lost a little of the jollyness and courtesy that we usually have. This is, to me, due to a couple of things. We have a number of people who have joined recently, and of course they wish to prove how fast they are. Also we have had some tricky combos, and last night is a prime example, very, very tricky to launch, and also to race in close proximity to others. What I would like to see is the spirit of WNR return please, with the position you are racing for being not so relevant as the race you are having for it. I am confident we should see that soon.
See you next week.

Sadly I do think the standard of racing has dropped a bit, the start of race 2 felt more like Codmasters Grid online then GTL on a No Grip server.
Please don’t think I’m trying to be the big I am guy here but I only had 1 hour to practice on that track with that car and even though it was hard I still got a clean start and had some really close racing without knocking anybody off.
One of my biggest pleasures in racing is to hassle someone from behind as much as possible, getting as close as possible, I have compromised myself many times in order not to overtake and hit people and it a very rewarding feeling to do this.
OK, here is my take on the two racing incidents that involved Michael....
Race 1
Beep did slow down to wait for Michael when he nudged him from behind at the two tight right handers before the back straight. However, I think he should have waited until Michael had got back in front before resuming race pace.
At the end of the straight, Michael was a bit too close to Beep at the braking point. That caused Beep to lose control, so that one was clearly Michael's fault (although I'm sure it wasn't deliberate).
Race 2
Sorry, Lui, but I have to agree with Michael. He was a full car length ahead of you through that turn, and he also stayed on the outside of the track. Whilst this can again be attributed to a simple race incident, you can hardly blame Michael when your own car touched the right rear of his car, and sent him spinning off. You should have backed off slightly in that situation, even though he seemed to be leaving you some room. You have to remember that you could easily see his car, but yours was probably invisible to him at that time.
On a side note, the other cars look very strange to me in the replays. They move in a very jerky fashion, and some of them have their wheels twisted sideways ! What's that all about ?

Server replays are better Mogg. Does away with all that nonsense.

Well, if two drivers are saying that I`m wrong, that`s probably the truth.
Anyway Iīd like to put the picture of the breaking point and of the "touching point". I was side by side with Michael and braked hard to keep the inside line. He braked normally and came to the inside line instead of keep the outside, as would be more safely, specially for him.
I donīt think it was my fault. I can agree that I could have avoided the touch, as he could too.
I donīt want to create any disaffection here. But I donīt think I mustnīt defend myself either. So, Michael, Iīm sorry for the touch. I wish it wouldnīt have happened.
BTW, Iīm going to Brazil to spend my loooooong vacation there  Iīm Brazilian and Iīm living in Spain, now. Iīll be there for two months, and will not be able to take part of the races. See you all in October. :-(
Have fun on the races ;-)
I'll miss you, Lui. Have a nice time in Brazil, and see you in October

Apologies for being a bit late to this, I wasn't at this race.
I've had a look at the server replay several times and it really is a close call. :detective:
In the Server Replay, Luis doesn't actually come in contact with Michael. Very close - maybe 1 foot / 30cm - But that's the GT Legends server doing its thing as best it can.
We can't tell what each driver's sim was showing at the time. (Without getting ridiculous, and I don't want to go down that path)
Personally, I had a very similar situation a few weeks ago. I was following SnowCat at - don't remember - and during the race we got very close indeed. He spun off when I hadn't had any visual or FFB feedback indicating an incident even though I got very close to his car through the braking point.
In that situation, with an unclear cause, I DID decide to wait. Personal choice. At the same time (contradictory) I chatted "Didn't touch you" (which, on examining the replay, revealed a similar situation where the replay seemed to show 30cm clearance, but SnowCat's car reacted anyway.)
Ruling
=====
Cause: Too Close To Call
Result: Understandable given the situation
Obiter Dictum: To both parties - don't worry about it. You will have many, many more opportunities to go racing. GTL is a computer sim, with varying levels of connection speed dependent on each person and their connection. When racing gets to that level of closeness - Luis did brake, seemingly enough to avoid collision - then at this point in time, and technology development, we can't expect reality-level crash detection.
Given reasonable action to avoid the collision, it is understandable Luis did not feel obliged to wait for Michael.
Both parties more than welcome to join future WNR races, especially given their appetite for close racing. :-D

Thank you very much for your report psyfungi.
After I have calmed down I only want to forget that race.
I noted like the car was hit, but I also believe that Luis is a versed and fair driver, and he did'nt want to kick me.
Looking forward to some better races in the future
(Without my bellyaching ;-) )
