Since it's my first time on this mod I have no idea on laptimes. Done 20....25 laps and 1:54.*** is what I can do on this mod at the moment.
The new version of Imola is not my favorite track but still done quite many laps on it at eSR League.
What can I expect veteran Porsche Supercup drivers to do here???
Nectaria
25 March 12, 16:38
Our aliens will probably do 1.49. To be honest I'm by far not a pro Porsche driver, so anything close to 1.52 would be good for me, down to 1.54 by now.
fromgehenna

1:49.*** SH*T!!!!!:-P
Well I think that 1:52.5** max is realistic for me. Hope that some others will be as slow as me.

On stock Imola track the time you get depends most on how much you cut - game is pretty liberal there. I'm not really a fan of this track and like I said of this mod. I'll be back in Europe on 31st so if I can manage decent laptime (1:52 low) then I'll think about starting ;-)
Is that Qualy or Race trim?
Nectaria
27 March 12, 15:44
Every time I post is race trim, qualifying is something I don't worry about.

Going to get some of my first laps in later. I am generally ok with the Porsche cars so i am hoping it wont take long to get into the groove. As always Imola is a track on which you need to make the most of the kerbs to get the best lap times.

And they're not steep so you can take a lot of speed/throttle/steering over them.
Only chicane that is tricky is the 2nd after Aqua Minerali, that one can unsettle any car, and something Porsche's don't like is unsettling.

I find the 2nd apex at Minerali very hard in GTR2 - all cars. Especially this one!

Anyone else being kicked all the time?
No idea what I can do to connect
Well, it looks like i'll miss race one, as my parents asked for a lift to the airport at 5am, which is pretty much right through the middle of the race (I think? Time conversion was never my strong point. Anyway, thought I'd chuck this up here if anyone wanted a demo of an almost perfect lap around here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LD6eQVQBik
Anyone else being kicked all the time?

what is the exact error message?
Only one other player has tried to join so far (TrueTom) and he seems ok :-)

Booted as possible cheat.
All the time.

30 March 12, 15:38
Tested it on Gsi Bobs computer earlier and got into the server first time. Maybe you can try joining in a different car Kalinin? Or reinstall the mod. Failing that create a second install of GTR2 just for our league - its the easiest way to ensure everything works ok.

other mods or last season's cars causing a conflict maybe?
drag some out and retry :-)

Did my first laps and got into the 53's. Car feels nice around here so looking forward to the race. Off to try and shave a few seconds off my time now...

53/54 race pace - Qual time in the 52's
Don't think I'll be as competitive as I'd hoped, but we'll wait and see!
I forecast plenty of mistakes and spins (including myself), as this track/car combo will be very tough over 45minutes. So the results could be all over the place.

It's probably another mod causing the problem, did you remove any as advised?

Kalinin this is a simple case.
You will need to get your GTR2 cd - and install the game again seperately (Not reinstalling) - When you start nstallinging, one of the first prompts will be what folder to install it in - instead of the default "GTR2", put "GTR2 online" or something (NOT "GTR2" or this will overwrite your offline one!)
Once this is done - you will need to patch it and get the online fix - (both in the first post in this thread!)
annoying I know, but everyone has to do it once to make online work. Should only take 20 minutes to install it and then make all your settings the same as your other install.
An easier method so you don't have to mess with profiles, car setups, logins, CD keys, etc...
1. rename your existing GameData folder, for example to GameData.OLD
2. install again from CD to a separate folder, for example to GTR2TEMP
3. copy the GTR2TEMP\GameData into your normal GTR2 folder
4. add cars, tracks etc
5. zip up the GTR2TEMP\GameData and keep it somewhere in case you need it again
6. delete the GTR2TEMP folder
If you want to go back to the old GameData
1. rename GameData to GameData.NEW
2. rename GameData.OLD to GameData

I'm downloading the installer. Lost the one I had :D
Good that I have the CD Key in my email (needed when install again?). Should have kept the Installer in a safe place, probably lost it while moving to new appartment -_-"
Need to do some laps now, didn't do much with this mod because of another online races.

What? :-D

Haha exactly what I was thinking Truetom!
I recommend my way if you even slightly don't understand JJC1's method! Just so you don't mess something up

yeah ...I suppose it is really complicated... :-P
... you have to learn loads
how to COPY a folder
AND Rename it too :stupid:

haha I know - but in these cases you have to assume someone isn't familiar with the systems in the first place.
PS. does that even work? what if your PLR has modified parameters, etc - you'll still get the same cheat error.

I think most people can learn how to copy/rename a folder ;-)

nothing you do in your .PLR file can cause "boot as cheat" problem (afaik)
Maybe this picture helps to understand? ;-)
Uff, can't seem to get to grips with this car. It slides a lot and I can't be consistent, but that's my fault. I'll get some more practice in and will be there for the race. Let's see what happens.

The trick is to be nice and smooth with your steering inputs. Pay particular attention to making a smooth transition off the brakes and onto the throttle. With the weight over the rear of the car once it goes sideways you need fast reactions to save it.

I find it easier to just have two seperate games, once you've copied over the contents of the PLR so the settings are the same.
One click instead of renaming.
But now I'm just being pedantic! :P

In any case i think the advice is to make a clean install of the game and try rejoining the server. The problem is client based, not server based because the rest of us are getting in ok.

I was running well with this car. Just 2 weeks playing with LMP2 and PC and now these Porsche seems "too soft" on corners. Trying to adapt to the car again but it's hard :-(
Damn, mix up with the time zones. I thought there was a 2 hour difference :'(

Qualifying I didn't put much faith in it, set a time and I was done.
Race, well I thought I started good enough, but the ones behind me overtook me into the first corner anyway, then bob spun so Verce and I had to hit the gravel.
From then on I had a really cool battle with bob which I overtook once, before I made a mistake, it seems he was locking up a lot more then I did, so decided to take advantage of that.
Second half of the race Edge fell back and Gsi and I overtook him, I was almost on Gsi's tailpipe I made another mistake, Edge went by and I thought that was it as I wasn't able to close the distance cause of tire wear.
Then in the last lap in Villeneuve chicane Edge went to the moon and Gsi flashed lights he let me by.
Overtook 2 cars in that corner without understanding why I deserved it honestly, so finished 6th, which is a nice start to the season. I believe me teammate got to the podium which is really cool.

Could've had pole or front row but screwed the 2nd Rivazza :(
(Congrats Seyli with pole on debut!)
Race was really fun!
Good start - but into Tosa there were about 4 cars within 2m, and 4 different lines! I chose the high line, which worked for 90% of the corner, until I found the other 2 or 3 cars on exit and got forced onto the grass and spun up the hill.
In these cars this season, have fun getting back from a mistake!
But I only lost like 10 secs so I pushed on - caught edge, he spun, caught Arch, he spun, caught Tom, he spun! Then for about 10-15 minutes I was catching From/Seyli/Jay about a second a lap sometimes because they were dicing, and it culminated in Seyli and From spinning, and me finding Seyli in the middle of the track at Piratella!
Well.. I saw him move a bit so chose to go where he was (thinking he'd keep going) but...he didn't...and I drilled into the side of his car! (sorry) Luckily no real damage and we both fought hard to the end of the race.
My pace was pretty good in that second half, I was catching everyone but Peter! But still probably deserved 5th.
I think the car and format works really well - major win IMO - and because our time went back an hour, I should be able to make most of the races!! so 5th was good for pts!
ps. Was anyone on softs? they might work one day!? I was on meds and they held up mightily well, the car was fastest at the end of the race.
pps. AMAZING JOB PETER!! Kicked some serious ass!
ppps. Was so much fun racing at Imola! Dream come true - love the rhythm you can get into, but it still bites as soon as you stop concentrating.
i was stoppet at piratella when u arrived on me i think your eyes are playing u tricks cause i did not tried to move! hopefully no serious damage :D
not a good race for me
i was nowhere near the pace of any of you .
not much to say , glad to be only one lap behind
and apologies to bob for the tap in t1.

The Porsche takes some time to adapt to but im sure you will get on to the pace quickly judging by how well you progressed in the previous seasons 8-)

I don't like these cars. Maybe could've gone .5 of a second faster during quali but it wouldn't change my position. Had a good start and after couple of turns I found myself in front of Jay in 4th. I was nowhere with the pace and I didn't feel confident with the car (never do with a Porsche) so it was just a matter of time. Soon after I started spinning and fell to the back of the grid. Every time I got the rhythm and was beginning to catch Nectaria I had a spin or a slide. In the end I managed to overtake him when he spun but I repayed the favor on the last lap. Definitely not enjoying this mod and I think I won't be racing anymore this season.

Glad you enjoyed it. We had a good race
I struggled to find a consistent pace tonight - i think i am too used to iracing now and GTR2 feels somehow strange! Some laps i was doing 52's in the race, others high 53's :?:
I was driving cockpit view for the first full race in GTR2 but i had real mirrors on not the virtual one and as a result i had no real idea how close any other cars were so everytime someone caught me up i let them past, and decided instead to try and follow them and see what happened.
This tactic paid off in the end as Fromgehenna and Seyli tangled i got second place. Great win Peter and a nice race for the opening round

I like Porsche and always I did;-))) I didnt have enough time to make some practice so very happy with second on grid;-) Nice battles first laps and then was easy. I expected close racing with some guys for whole race so I was a little bit surprised how fast I'm lol;-)
Shame didnt join more people I dont understand why some people dont like this cars. They are slower to compare GT1 and really enjoyable ;-)))The sound is incredible on this car too;-)))I'm looking forward for next race;-)
Well done everyone who finished this race and guys on podium;-)))
I think I'd like if the setup was free, this car is too "soft" wanted to make the suspension a bit harder so I could drive it better.
I didn't join the race because my internet was gone, but pretty happy with that, drove a P2 for some time and now I'm having problems to adapt to this porsche again. Was doing 1:54 low on race simulation, now 1:55 ~ 1:56 high in Imola -_-"
Hope The Glen will be better for me

A season or two ago I drove a few different cars and games before races and it totally killed me!!
But iRacing seems to adapt very well - I've managed to get my steering feeling almost identical in both games so the change over is virtually non-existent.
from memory - GP4 -> GTR2 = impossible change over!
