Not sure. I would have thought they would have posted another build update by now. Of course, that's assuming they planned on a monthy build release. It's been about a month from the last one so.... soon?!?

Was browsing the ISI forum just last night and saw Tim mention the next update still has some things to be done before they release it. Can't imagine it'll be more than a few weeks away unless those 'some things' are new tracks or cars.

One thing I'm critical on is developers releasing a specific date when they want X patch or X game out. When something comes up at the last minute, there's no time to fix it and you either release and dissapoint, or delay and dissapoint.

However, giving a rough time frame +1/-1 or 2 weeks of he expected release I think is the way to go. It gives people something to look fowards to and lets people know more is coming.

Tim said they won't give more than a few days notice for updates because of what happened over Christmas.

What happened at christmas?

They made the mistake of telling the forum they might have the first build of the beta out before Christmas.

Well, some things came up and they couldn't.

So there were lots of very impolite trolls screaming, "you pomised!!!"

When in fact it was never promised.

Tim said they learned their lesson and they will never again say things like "it might be this day" or "we're planning for this day"....

Only when they know for sure will they say something - which means only a day or two's notice.

And it's also why we don't get many developer blogs about progress. A few bad apples spoil it for everyone.

Exactly the same thing applies to those who make mods. That is why it is a bad idea to give release dates and it is idiotic to ask for them. It is done when it is done and no mod should be released before it is ready.
