What's the story with GTL online racing? Need help registering

Greetings and thank you for taking the time to read this thread.
I bought GTR2 in the package with GTL. While I like GTR2 I would really like to race GTL online. It has been 2 months now and still I have not figured out how to go online and play.

1) First I tried registering a User/pass from within the game itself. I could never login after registering. I tried to create several accounts but no dice. The accounts were accepted but the login was not. I assumed that it worked like GTR2.

2) After reading several threads, I discovered that the online registration works differently from GTR2 and it requires to create an account online at the GTL website.

3) After going to the website several times at the "account" link (http://www.gt-legends.com/account_en.php) I have to conclude the site is bust and not going to return.
The page itself, beside the pretty graphics, is broken, and the last bit of news there dates to 11.04.2007 saying they will be back in service soon. Right.

4)Yet, I see recent posts from folks that are able to register and race online. What gives?

The registration is essentially the same as for GTR2. The website was for retrieving old accounts, not for creating new accounts.

One thing to check is that your firewall isn't blocking GTL though you usually get a message if it is.

The registering process isn't very obvious though just from the in game menu.

To register - in the log-in menu click on register

In the register menu - complete the boxes then click on the arrow on the right.

Thanks for your kind answer. I followed the procedure in the game for registering. About 3 times in fact. But each time, when trying to use the user/pass I created (and that was accepted) after much thinking on the computer's part, I get a login error.

I am going to try to revalidate the game and login again. The starforce serial that came with my copy may be one of the bum ones, but it accepted it. In another thread a fellow was instructed to delte the serial number and input a new one. I'll try that and see what happens.

Otherwise, on the computer's fromnt everything is fine. My firewall is OK and GTR2 works online just fine.

I doubt its the on-line key if its accepted it. I'm not aware of any "bum" on-line keys.

Just what is the error message you are getting?

Have you upgraded to Version 1.1 (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=776) ?

If you haven't you will get; Incompatible Game Version.

All US copies are V1.1 as supplied, and since GTL was packaged with GTR2 its safe to assume the poster has the US version :)
