View Full Version : Porsche 911R for GT Legends by papag21
Brickyard Legends Team present :
Porsche 911R
The 1967 911R was a very early example of what Porsche Racing department were capable of in the way of lightweight performance builds, each of the 22 "R's"was substancially lightened over the standard 911 of the period, the doors, wings/fenders, bonnet and engine lid were all constructed of GRP. The interior was also stripped of all comfort features. It Sported a stripped out dashboard, bare steel floors and a bucket seat. All the windows bar the windscreen were plexiglass, driver and passenger door windows were raised and lowered with a lightweight leather strap as the door internals were stripped to a bare minimum.
The "R" (R = Racing) was a prototype built on the basis of the standard Coupe with a 901/22 Carrera six-cylinder engine with a standard alloy crankcase, developing an impressive 210hp. It weighed only 830 kilograms, thanks to a large number of plastic parts and extremely minimalist equipment. Most cars used Weber 46 IDA3C carburetors, while some featured the mechanical Bosch fuel injection system. Optionally the four-cam Type 901/21 engine which produced 230hp was available.
The 911R presented has three sets of physics :
PORSCHE_911R.HDC - standard with a 210hp@8000rpm engine
PORSCHE_911R_4CAM.HDC - with 901/21 4 cam engine (230hp@8000rpm)
PORSCHE_911R_SPORTOMATIC.HDC - with 901/21 4 cam engine and Sportomatic 4 speed gearbox
The mod is linked to GTC65 class and the 300SL.

Incredible
Thanks to the whole Brickyard Legends Team.
Wow! Christmas in May. Thanks guys!
A very enjoyable car to drive...but only motored at Nurburgring Mullenbach so far.
I've only driven the standard so far, I can only imagine how much the 4 cam
will honk!!! I don't think I've ever felt more at home in, in touch with, quite so
able to anticipate any other GTC65 car like I can this one. If the jump in
performance from the S to the R is what racers lived through back then I can
only imagine they were grinning from ear to ear when they got behind the
wheel of this baby for the first time.
I love the tweak to the standard .aud file,
(Or has it been that long since I heard the default
RSR sounds?) :detective:
The modelling is, as usual, fantastic.
And the changes to the physics from the S!!! :trophy:
Top job team, thanks for a truely enjoyable car that I'm going to be driving
for a very long time.
Cam.
Great! Thank you!!

Well done ! More pieces again for the Historic car puzzle. I feel GTL is once more getting close to reviving some of the heroic races from the sixties with more and more authentic material pouring in .
Did I hear somebody shout Nurby, 6 hours or Marathon de la Route or Spa 24h ?
Cheers, (senior)Dan
Many thanks to everyone involved !!

Yes that one is included I think. Not one of the original liveries but one that I just liked.
And there are quite a few more to skin all you painters out there! Look at this website for some ideas: http://www.early911sregistry.org/forums/showthread.php?55818-Ultimate-R-thread

In my system, the 911R appears in the window cardealer, but aufter buying it, she doesn't appear in the game. What's my mistake?
Thank's for your help!
Sunny
Hi
Included in the team folder are 2 readme's, one for the different 5 speed gearbox options.
And one for the Sportomatic semi-auto 4 speed.
In case you don’t want to dig through your game to find them, I thought I would post them here.
-------------------------------------------------
911R 5 speed gearbox notes readme.
The 911R comes with the 3 original gearbox choices of ratios.
They were called by the factory;
901/51 = Hill-climbing gear set
901/53 = LeMans or speed gear set
901/54 = Nurburgring gear set
GTL of course will let you mix and match the gears any way you want and this is fine.
Real Porsche gearboxes can also be assembled with almost any set of gears that you might need.
For those of you that might want to drive the car using one of the original gearbox options that the car came with,
here is a quick guide for setting them up in the garage.
For the Hill-climbing box set to:
1st (12/34)
2nd (17/34)
3rd (20/31)
4th (22/29)
5th (23/28)
For the Nurburgring box set to: (this is the default gearbox)
1st (14/37)
2nd (20/32)
3rd (22/29)
4th (25/27)
5th (27/25)
For the Lemans box set to:
1st (15/36)
2nd (20/32)
3rd (23/28)
4th (26/26)
5th (28/23)
-----------------------------------------------
Sportomatic Readme.
Porsches semiautomatic box (The Sportomatic) was simply a conventional 4 speed manual gearbox with a standard clutch this, was coupled to the engine through an automatic transmission torque converter.
They work and shift very much like a standard 4 speed other than the car has no clutch peddle.
Instead the clutch was activated by a vacuum diaphragm and triggered by a micro switch in the shift lever when ever the shift lever was grabbed , then reengaged when you let go of the lever.
The driver shifted the car just like a standard 4 speed with the torque converter softening the connection to the engine. The driver still had to lift off the throttle during shifting.
GTL offers no real option to simulate a torque converter coupled gearbox
So I have done my best to fake it.
Leave your game in manual mode don’t use the clutch peddle.
I set the shift time to match the time that I take to shift, when not rushing, using my G-27 shifter.
When you shift it will behave much like an automatic transmission with the torque converter slipping and then locking up.
:-)
:thanks: very nice
