I have an issue in GTR2 where when you run over rumble strips/curbs, the gravel trap sound effectis used, rather than a rumble. This is on more than many circuits and on many cars. Does anyone know what file/folder/files/folders might be causing this error? Or could it be an issue more centrally on my PC's sounds?

This issue occurred after I downloaded the Nardo Dirt track. Could it be the specialfx.tec file which is causing the sound issues?

It's probably the file "specialfx.tec" wich is in Gamedata\Locations

This file contain setup for sound effects & visual fx associations with ground surfaces, it was probably modifyed while installing the dirt track you talk about.

Easier thing to do is to restore the original specialfx.tec from a scratch GTR2 Install.

Hmmm ok. I'll have to give it a go. I don't have the disc with me at the moment either, absolute pain. Don't suppose anyone has a clean specialfx.tec file?

If you still have the downloaded .rar file, there is a clean file included with it. It's in the DoThisFirstBeforeYouCanDrive/specialfxBACKUP folder.

I did that but now loads of tracks get CTDs, which I assume is because of using that file. I don't know what is wrong with that 'backup' file but something's up with it on some tracks.

Could someone upload/PM me the original install one?

Thanks,

James

Should be a clean one.

Cheers. Still causes CTDs on the same tracks though. Very odd.
