View Full Version : 60's mod 'wobble', Renault series no grip

Guys, just looking for some feedback here on whether the physics of my cars in the 60's mod is behaving as it should.

Whens I am accelerating away up the hill from St Devote, or going though the tunnel, the car starts to wobble, or corkscrew, which if I don't get well off the power develops into a tank slapper. I can very very rarely use anything approaching full power any where without the wobble.

The other issue is that with the Formula Renault mod, especially at Sepang, it is like driving on ice - anything more that quarter throttle at low engine revs has the back swapping ends; I was under the impression that most race cars have pathetic torque at low revs, so either the physics for the grip are wierd, or the torque map of the car is wrong.

Am I the only one to find this? For reference, I drive the '79 mod in rFctor without anywhere near the issues I'm having in rF2

I don`t get this "wobble" you mention Les and can boot the F1`s 2`s and 3`s up the hill and through the tunnel without any of what you mention... I`ve had a few tank slappers but that`s just me

I do find however that it`s quite hard for me to drive the Formula ISI`s without swapping ends every time I so much as look at the brake pedal...

Well if you have problem with FISI, frenault is even much harder to drive imo.

I have to say I agree with somebody who wrote on his blog that he feels like said ISI wanted to show us all what is racing about and that all other sims are too easy, that we were used to easy racing and overdid it with "teaching". Driving rf2 requires more concentration.

From my experience most servers simply solve this by allowing all levels of TC and ABS which is a total fun killer for me, I don't like to use them even on cars that do in reallife.

But everything got better in last build, and will still improve in the future.

I sincerely hope not, as that isn't realistic at all. It's been proven time and time again that hard doesn't automatically mean realistic. Indeed, almost all real world drivers say driving race cars fast is much easier in reality than in sims.
