Race time information (all times quoted are UK time)
Practice: The server will be up all day!
Qualifying: 19:30 UK time - 15 minute session
Race (no warm up) : 28 laps (inclusive of the rolling formation lap)
*NEW START PROCEDURE*
The race will have a rolling start. The pole position car will lead the field around the formation lap (effectively becoming the safety car) at a consistent and steady pace. Do not make sudden weaving movements or brake/accelerate hard during the lap. If you spin out on the formation lap, rejoin at the back of the field, do not try to reclaim your position.
On approach to the start finish line at the end of the lap the field should be in single file and in order of qualifying position. The lead car will maintain its speed until it crosses the start finish line at which point the race is underway. There is to be no overtaking prior to the lead car crossing the line at the end of the first lap.
Driving aids: Auto clutch & gears allowed
Auto pit: Please turn this option off. If you need help pitting manually ask on the forum.
You must set your game difficulty to simulation to be able to join the server.
*Make sure your game is patched to v1.1 and that you are using the online patch too*
Patch v1.1 - http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=2099
Simbin online fix - http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=22308
I could talk to Alex from simutils, to let you use the SimUtils Package downloader. Way easier to track of files and updates. Also really easy to manage skins and other updates on the fly.

Managed to get into the 1:40's pretty easily. But my soft tyre gain wasn't much!
Hopefully can race in the 1:41's.
Dunno what you guys are doing?
Normally when I set a benchmark for everyone it gets smashed then I go back out and find more time haha!
Question mark for me at this race too unfortunately - I'm sick and have places to be midday Sunday - so might need more than 5 hours sleep!

i'm in the 1:40's racepace........for now :)
maybe we'll see the fast guys dip into the 36's in qualy :s
PS: the race will end prematurely after 21 laps, so i think it should be set at something like 28 laps.
maybe for next season we should make a track pack, and make sure the .gdb's are set so the races end on time ?

1:40 sounds fast for me. Get my times to 1:41.5** but that is what I can do on this car. Race pace around 1:42......1:42.5** after the tires have warmed up.
Realy can't get my head right for these car's and have no idea on how to setup the zytek. The car feel's much too hard but the spring's are at their softest. Using default suspension setup since everything I change make's the car worse.
Someone who drives aso the Zytek would be very very sporty to give me a setup of some sort.
Hope to manage to the race this week. First race on new mod and also new track so hoping to get some experience.

Race pace and qual setup are within a second...
I'm lapping around 1:40.... with some fast laps (4-10) in high 1:39...
Managed to do one qual lap of 1:38:5xx, so not that much to gain....
This track is the best.... love it.

This is one damn competitive season!
I did my time in the server - I generally find testing offline the track is faster.
With the qualifying grip come race day I think the top guys could be in the 36's! Especially in the 908 maybe?
I'm going to close the curtains, lock all doors, and retreat into a cave with my Aston and try to set it up and get some speed into it!!!

38's are about the fastest possible, maybe someone will sneak a 37 in quali but i think that'd be it.
I am in the 41's so far but still haven't really learnt the track fully.
908's aren't necessarily the quickest cars guys, it's all about setup...
There are some secrets hidden in the physics files. Find them, and adjust setup accordingly, and you will be much faster.
We are doing 1:38-1:39 on race setup. I believe pole will be a 1:36 time.

For the guys who finished in the top positions please note the success ballast for this race and onwards has been revised. You can find the new weight ballast rules in the season 5 information sticky thread.
Also everyone please read the new rolling start instructions and rules in post #1 of this thread.

Don't you think that's going a bit real far when you're already seconds in front of everyone else?

Adjusting files is considered cheating.
I think he means there are some good indicators of how best to set the car up based on the settings within those files, should you understand what you are reading! As opposed to changing the files himself. :-)

just 1 proposal for the start procedure.
if you spin out on the formation lap, rejoin at the back of the field, do not try to reclaim your position.

Let's see if I can make it to the race. Going to Zoo with the family on saturday and trips like this are known to last longer than planned.
Race pace at 1:42....... so not good.
I was afraid that the field would be very wide on these car's but was not expecting this much. Don't know if I'm the slowest one but 4 sec or over behind top driver's on race pace is going to eat my motivation alot.
This is why I like/prefer slower mod's. The field is much closer and racing is more fun. Also protos are a lot like openwheeler's... not good for close racing that I like. Also no good for driver like me who has very limited time to do laps and who has no idea how to do setups.
Hope to make it to the race but if nor have a good one.
P.S mandatory pitstop on 45min race????:?:

I have no idea what you're talking about... But I need to be faster: First contact with those cars and 1'43"xxx at best. Not promising :-(
About the rolling start: is the race on when the leader crosses the line (so you can overtake even if you've not crossed the line yourself) or do you have to cross the line to give full throttle?

Speaking of physic files, can someone explain what these numbers mean and translate in setup?
DiffuserRake=(0.000, -10.0, 300.0) (taken from AudiR10 hdc file)

Speaking of physic files, can someone explain what these numbers mean and translate in setup?
DiffuserRake=(0.000, -10.0, 300.0) (taken from AudiR10 hdc file)
Meaning your max. downforce on the diffuser under the car, is when your ride -height is 0.000 difference, front to rear.
But it do not mean that your ride height should be the same... (examble 6.5 front, 6.5 rear), but when you need the must downforce at a certain point on track, this is the time you want to check what your telemetry are.....
It's a must to do some consistent laps, to dial the max. downforce in...
Peter Munkholm aka. GTR24h on forum, has done a very nice vid on the topic :)

Hope it understandable, and sorry for my bad english.... ;)

Found some time to get in the 39's too, but definitely not 38's. Gotta really push the track limits to find time. That is without ballast though. Will do a few more laps tomorrow to see if i can bridge the remaining gap, but this is a tough track to push on with the bumps. Don't really think this track suits these cars, and i expect the same at Long Beach.
Spa, Mid Ohio etc should be nicer to race on, looking forward to them more...

Well,i will race with the Audi R10 this time.
I think i have limited the dangerous spinnings, but still the car is rather twichy.
Also i hate this airfield track.Too bumpy all around.
I am still 1-2 secs off pace at the moment, but i just want a good error free race.

Don't forget you get a points penalty the race you change car :)

Also doing probably 3 iRacing races between now and our race!

I think i am right in saying everyone except Peter made at least one spin or some big mistake in the last race so a consistent approach should work well with these cars.
We have guests visiting tonight so i won't be able to race :-(
Will make sure the weights are set correctly and try to join for at least the formation lap to check everything goes off according to plan.

Q:4 Pretty ok lap. If i had actually practiced qualifying could have gone quicker perhaps.
R: DNF Computer went mental on the first laps and periodically throughout the race, until it finally sent me into the tyres which caused a one minute stop, after that decided just couldn't deal with it anymore. Apologies if anyone else affected. Will investigate and fix.
Looking forward to next races more, don't think this is a good track for Protos, dunno why they even race here IRL!

I had a nice fight with 2arcade, and thougut FromGehena would close the gap but he seemed to have some troubles...
Very slow in straights (Couldn't follow the guy in front, even with splistreaming) , nice in swings. I pick up my car at random, so I guess it needs serious tuning...
About race incidents (and people involved): Maybe you should keep your arguments in MP, and wait for the replay...

Great race, and applaus to the guys I lapped... Really good space giving...
Q: 3. Couldn't get a desent lap. Bad luck there was a car spinning in almost every corner. :)
R: 2. Great race, with lots of fighting to keep the gab, to nr.3. at all times.... I was not pushing to hard all the time, and ended the race with 1.8 liter diesel, for the formation lap ;) Looking forward to the next......
This is my favorite track, but only did 2 races here :) second this time, and I won a 12 hours race at Sebring in the DGTL League, in the spring.... :)

Much better this time indeed.A performance i am satisfied with,i didnt make a name in simracing for spinning.:-P
Other than one contact with a wall,no major mistakes.
I was following my teamate Kim at 4th for the first part,i passed him briefly when he made a mistake, then i let him pass me again once he got close.
I have the penalty for switching car,so the team will got more points this way, also he was faster.
After running for many laps mostly by myself and having good gap to behind, the race goes to final laps.
Then i see the gap to Kim getting reduced fast,i caught him by the final lap.He was slowing down a lot,i was thinking fuel problem (it was).
I pushed him a bit near the backstraight, starting turning for final turn, but i had to speed away as others were closing behind me.
I could have pushed for about 2 seconds more wathcing the replay.Still maybe you wouldnt finish without the small push Kim.:-D
Its frustrating when you lose positions for false fuel calculation, but we all have done it.
So happy overall,my best lap was about 0.5 sec off my best at offline Practice 2.Is the track slower in race than FP2?
Fritsen
5 August 12, 02:28
Q: 1
Got out just behind someone (don't remember the name) who was only a bit slower than me, but i managed to pass him on my first real hotlap attempt, and then had a completely free lap after that, when my tires were perfect and my fuel was low. A bit lucky, but I made the most of it :)
R: 1
Great race for me as well. Had the slight advantage of beeing the pacecar, so i managed to pull away from the begining. I knew my fuel would be tight, so the battle for second going on behind me was perfect, and gave me the opportunity to do some shortshifting without loosing posistions.
In the end my race turned out perfectly, and I didn't make any mistakes.
Like Sweet_Dane, i would like to say thx to the guys I lapped - it really makes a great difference, when you give space and let faster cars overtake :)
quake_gl -> Offline sessions generally have an unrealisticly high amount of grip, and can't really be compared to an equivalent online session. A race session should be significantly faster than practice 2 :)

I think that I have found my strategy for the season so that racing in these car's is fun. Start last and see where I end up. Most likely it's quite close on what I would end up even with qual. But the diference is that now I don't have to drive alone all the time.
Good fight with skogkatt and 2arcade. 2arcade was insanely fast on straitline so even that I was maby 2sec faster on clean track it was a very very hard to overtake since Zytek is the slowest one on strait. After I got pass 2arcade I was gaining some time to skogkatt but then the day hit me (was at Zoo whole day with the family 4.5 hour's at car and 6 hour's at Zoo:-D) and my driving went crappy. Also I had to save some fuel since I was getting realy realy low on it.
This mod realy does not suit me. It's quite nice to drive but to be faster would need much more practice and know how on setups. Both these would need more time and well.... I'm a saturday driver. Last season zero to 10 laps before race was my practice.
See you guys at next race.

Q:11 Good Lap with an slow last sector.
R:9 My racepace was just too slow.
Had some problems finding a good setup, so i was going for the straight line speed again. :-P
I didn't practice enough, and the 40 kgs really bogged the car down. It messes with the rideheight difference, so you can't get it really good. The steps are way to high, 0.5 cm!
Well 2 guys crashed in front of me, lost my splitter. First pit stop didn't fix the splitter. Don't really know why. Second one and I had a perfect car. Only I was in dead last place though.
Still finished 10th and pretty much kept pace with the leaders through the whole race. The same pace without the pitstops, would have put me in 3rd.
But shit happens in racing, and if you can't handle it, you should not race :)

Interesting round for me...
Well prepared, log on to practice server 30mins before qual - halfway around first lap it alttabs me to a virus detection, got back in and did it again - so instead of possibly being alttabbed midrace and compromising someones race i decided to DNS.
And it turns out ill be wasting this week on the virus forums getting rid of it!!
So apologies in advance for the delay in points Score!
