View Full Version : AI too slow through corners.

Hey, I need some help!
For some reason, the AI racers in any car, on any track will brake extremely early for a corner, cruise through at around 50km, then after exit will accelerate at full speed until another corner.

I've checked the PLR file and all of the AI stats are default, and the AI talent profiles are all stock as well. Other than that I haven't touched anything.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the matter?

I have to disagree about the any track bit. Ai speed through corners vary's a lot from circuit to circuit and the type of corner. AI tend to be quick through the faster sweeping corners, the tighter slower ones, yes they are a little slower. Don't beleive me, try keeping up with the AI at the 1st turn at Dijon, the 3rd turn at Barcelona, 2nd and 3rd turns at Zolder. The car AI drive also has some influence on their corner speed.

Every track I've tried so far has this problem. This is a very noticeable difference that happened only recently. A corner that should be taken at more then 120km is only taken at around 50, not even. Every car does the exact same corner speed at every corner no matter the angle.
To me, it looks like a value problem somewhere. The AI is reading something that is holding it back.

if it only started recently... blame whatever mod you added.. may need to reinstall from scratch tho :/

Argh. I was worried I might have to reinstall. Way to many tracks and cars to deal with @_@.
I haven't even installed any new mods recently, just a few cars and tracks.... I'll muck around with a few things, see what I can find.

I think it is a track you have installed giving you problems. You could also try the Pilsbierbude auto update. Once set up it's a couple clicks away from a 11 gig gtr2 install.

I reinstalled GTR2 awhile ago and just copied a lot of the folders and files from the original location to the new one.
Now, I still get the same problem but it appears on only some of the tracks, and some of the cars.
For instance in a test session at Misano, a couple of cars will go extremely slow and only one will go full speed. At Monaco 79 all cars will go slow. But at the Nurburgring track, all cars go full speed.

In case it matters, my Driver 2 AI will go full speed at all tracks in all cars.

This is driving me nuts. Does anyone have a clue? Or would it be better to do a completely new install? (Which I'll probably end up doing anyways).

Does changing the AI skill and aggressivity make any difference? I'm a dummy and my AI cars just go fine to win now and then :-D

Bye!

Make sure the AI skill level is at 100% or more. Setting this is where the difference is made. They will speed up in the corners. Straight line speed isn't affected because the car has physical limitations. Aggression is exactly what it says. They will probably drive like Paul Tracy and bash you all over the place if you set this high. They seam to qualify at the same speed no matter where you set these.

Whoa, I didn't even think I pressed the Post Reply button on that last reply!
After writing that reply I figured I answered my own question and just did a complete reinstall of GTR2. I only copied the Locations folder and for now everything works perfectly.

I don't think it was the difficulty and aggression because it's always between 100 and 120 (still trying to find that sweet spot.) and on real. Never really touch those.

So in case anyone has the same problem, your better off reinstalling completely fresh.
