Strangely we dont have much music related topics, so I decided to open one.
So what music do you like?
I am mostly into Rock/Hard Rock.
I absolutly love Iron Maiden-been to two concerts and intend to see many more. I just love their sound-the long epic songs are just....
I used to like Pink Floyd much more than anything, but I guess that people change with time. I still love the live album - Delicate sound of thunder.
The other bands that come to my mind are Dire Straits, Queen(big fan of them), INXS, Billy Idol, AC/DC, Ten years after, U2...
I also like to hear older Blues sonds, but dont acctually know many of the acts.
The best funny band I know of (have been to their concert once) are Leningrad cowboys. They are great-very, very funny.

Mostly some kind of rock or blues.
Or something else.
Dire Straits, Eläkeläiset, old C64 tunes (original and re-makes), Sibelius, Rally Trophy loader&replay -these for starters...
a bit of everything, from trance to gabber techno right through rock / metal and out the other side depending what kind of mood I'm in :)

And lots of internet radio:

I prefer hard and heavy, as far it stays melodic. Axel Rudi Pell, Metallica, Umbra et Imago, Papa Roach, Scagarack, Him and some others in this style are my first choice. But also like elder groups like Asia, DireStraights, ZZ-Top Deep Purple, Black Sabbath or Pink Floyd.
Cheers,

Mainly classical...........Beethoven is a big favourite, although I have been listening to a lot Baroque lately. Handel, Monteverdi, Bach, Vivaldi.
I have Vivaldi playing as I write.
Opera........
I have a pretty open mind about music; I enjoy listening to the stuff my kids play - Eminem, 50-Cent, other stuff :p yaddyadayada :p
I could add; Soft Cell, INX, Stones, The Cure, Billie Holiday..........etc. etc.

Hmmm. I never thought that something like Dire Straits would have so much fans between sporty car drivers with an average age of 30; really suprising. I personally think D.S. are the most boring band of the last 50 years, together with UB40 and all the other reggae crap.:o But that's what I dislike.....
I do like:
Rock: (Led Zeppelin, Monster Magnet, Turbonegro, Zodiac Mindwarp, T-rex, AC/DC old stuff etc.
Some metalsongs spring to mind mainly because I think it's funny.
On and of I like to listen to some classical stuff like Mozart or Wagner (great for dogfighting).
But mainly my music collection has an alternative atmosphere: Pixies, Swans, Morphine, Helmet, Supersuckers, Butthole Surfers, Foetus, Cake to name a few.
Johnny Cash is a legend anyway! Great to wake up with.
But what I mainly listen to lately is on my website. The new guitar player has to learn all 75 songs.....:D

My favorite music is rock/metal but i listen almost everything expect rap(50-cent and others, they really s*ck  ).
Here's something from my winamp playlist: Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus(some germans might know this one?), YUP, Nightwish, CMX, Zen Café, Within Temptation, Viikate, The Offspring, Teräsbetoni  , System Of A Down, The 69 Eyes, Popeda, PMMP, Miljoonasade, Maj Karma, Maija Vilkkumaa, Leevi And The Leavings, Kotiteollisuus, Klamydia, Jonna Tervomaa, Ismo Alanko, Eppu Normaali. :)
Most of them are Finnish.

Wow, lots of dire straits fans! Me too! Being a guitar player and a musician overall, I tend to lean towards stuff that I can learn from. So Mark Knopfler is a big influence since I play fingerstyle most of the time. But I also learned to play guitar with a lot of the grunge bands of the 90's, and I like a lot of the current "alternative" music that is out there. Some others: Leo Kottke, Tom Petty, Tom Waits, Flogging Molly, (I'm also Irish!) R.E.M., Rush, Queen, Foo Fighters, Collective Soul, Live, Neil Young, Byrds, Doors, Beatles, Rancid, Primus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Mike Plume Band,.... the list goes on. Those were random hits from my MP3 library- I've also got about 500 CD's. ;)

Depeche Mode
1 year ago i started listening to their albums and now that's pretty much all i listen to. The overall sounds of DM are just fantastic, you can't get tired of listening to them.
To mention some others i like:
*Caater, also well known in Finland, great tunes, specially the older ones)
*Metallica, just amazing guitar sounds
*Iron Maiden, well Pero said it all ;)
It's kinda funny that i listen to both electronical music and rock/hard rock, I don't know any people myself who like both of these, maybe some of you do?

I quite like Depeche Mode-I was listening to them heavily around 3 years back. So we are not quite different Rallyfan. To list Depeche Mode as electronic music is a bit strange-they sound so different to the normal understanding of electronic music.
I used to like Metallica a lot, but not anymore now that I truly discovered Iron Maiden. I was lucky enough to see both of the bands live and although I saw Metallica first I was more blown away by Maiden. I was lucky enough that the Maiden gig was in one of their great tours of the current era(Give me Edd till I'm dead tour). If you look at the normal list of the songs of that Tour you will see that most of the classic songs are in there.
I sure cant wait till they do the Golden years tour. Supposed they will play the songs from Powerslave, Somewhere in time and Live after death(which is direct Info from one of Bruce's interviews, but I think that Live after death was wrong info and infact they will be also playing Seventh son of the seventh son). Supposably the next three albums are to be played(last tour were the first four albums).
And if you check the songs from the next three albums(studio albums of course) you will notice that the playlist can be just amazing. I cant simply cant wait till they do the tour-me and my cousin said that we will go to one gig even if the closest one will be England. Of course Rock am Ring sound good as well-they usually play it and perhaps we could go for a few days and also do a few laps of the Ring (Nurby of course).

To me electronic music (and good one ;) ) would be something like Jean M. Jarre so maybe you can find something to listen to get a picture ....

It seems that i didn't said nothing about my taste in music :o
I like everything except punk and metal stuff....:o
but i like to listen song from song from differend source and becouse of that I mostly don't have favourite bands that i listen ...
one example: I like mostly some "classic things" like Whiter shade of pale, Nights in white satin, Hotel California, House of Rising Sun and tons of other stuff like that but i would never said that i listen Procol Harum, Moody Blues, Eagles or Animals...
but even with that kind or music taste I still have bands where i like all stuff from them and that would be: Diana Ross & The Supremes, Queen, Manic Street Preachers ,Lenny Kravitz....
there,I finally confess :D

Ok, this has been your finall warning :roflmao:
My girllfriend has red hair and i like that colour ;)
yours is maybe blond ....I don't like the coulour but I wont say that it is crap....
you have same thing with cars....I can like normall cars and you can like SUV....Someone can like steering bug and i can not like it....:p
I don't like Techno and metal but....
My point is that most of the things in life are subjective so take it easy ;) you can not like something but say it's rubbish is too much-especially music becouse everyone have his taste and when you "insult" what someone listens it's like you insulted him...:o

:argue:Hell no! When I say I hate reggea I do hate it sincerely. I don't care if anyone else likes it, but you won't see me staying long at a party or in a pub where you can hear that crap. After three minutes I get allergic reactions and beter get out of there otherwise I start smashing things.
Imagine
22 November 05, 11:25
Hmm......
Hakker,like i said ...
saying that you don't like something is on thing...you just moved that bondary to "hate so much that you can't stand it" but to say something is crap or rubbish...:
well if you would use that words to describe something that i like (lets say The Supremes) i would consider that a insult!!:argue:
Don't forget when you give yourself a freedom to judge what others are listening you are giving THEM a freedom to judge what you like and then it's so easy to have "fire" in the music thread :lock:
Hakker
22 November 05, 11:59
Oh well a bit of fire won't hurt would it? Since music is an emotional thing I just expressed my feelings; not to offend anyone. I'm sure my musical taste will not get everyone's party started and that's ok by me. If you really love some specific music I don't think you care what other people think, you just like it. Same goes for dislike or hate. It's a thin line.....

I like every kind of music, Classic, Opera, Metal (with its subcategories), rap, r&b, reggae, rock, punk, ambient(with its subcategories), But there is one what i cant stand and it is white metal, i mean the jesus kind of metal, it makes me laugh, its pure comedy to me. No one should stick on one style of music, its stupidness to me, every music style has its own good sides and bad sides, usually there is more good sides than bad sides. Music makes us more civilized, more than you can imagine. Only my opinion, and i know that iam right.

Mostly hard rock and metal : Silvertide, No Connection, ZZ Top, Metallica, Megadeth, Trapt, Pantera, Nickelback, Headstones...I also like some hip hop like Kanye West and others similar.
I don't like country, classical, and other stuff like that. I grinds on me like two pieces of styrofoam ribbing against each other(some people say nails on a chalkboard, that doesn't bother me. Styrofoam does).
