Help - GTR2 won't start anymore

I run it on Vista, on my laptop, with a Logitech G25 wheel...after installing a couple of new tracks (GC Interlagos 79 by Piquet and Kyalamy as well, but am not sure the problem has anything to do with it), the game all of a sudden won't start...after I click on the GTR2 Drive icon, it goes only as far as turning the screen black, but then instead of starting it opens a dialogue asking if I want to quit the game, or have Windows look for a solution and quit the game. both options result in only the application being closed.

Also of note, I installed TOCA Race Driver but it would not recognize the direction inputs from my steering wheel; it is after I UNinstalled TOCA that the problem appeared...

Did you run the GTR2Config utility to check whether the graphics settings are still OK?

Right-click on the GTR2 desktop shortcut and add "-trace=1000" to the Target Path (so it looks like ".../GTR2/GTR2.exe -trace=1000". It will generate a log file in the UserData/LOG folder that may shed some light on why it's not working.

Can you please tell me, from the report, what I would be missing and where to get it ? After un-installing and re-installing GTR2 I also dwnloaded and installed the 1.1.1 patch...but it still does not work...this below is Microsoft Windows problem details:

Just for a test...

Go to your main GTR2 installation folder ("...\GTR2")....

...delete the folder "MovieFiles".

...then run the GTR2Config.exe, and change the Shader level... (see attached screenshot).

Try in DX9 first, if it crashes, try again in DX8, if not, in DX7...

Tried as requested for the test, but no go - it won't start the game (with Movies folder deleted) in DX9 nor 8 nor 7...Full Screen Anti Alias is off, correct ?
If I try again to un-install and re-install, is there anything I can do to get it working again ?

I know this is a very old post. But I've just recently re-installed GTR2 and patched it up to v1.1 (even have latest nvidia drivers installed 266.58), and had the usual issue that other have had. Where it crashes on loading the game.

But with that said. I have had success with DucFreak's advice. Where it crashes in DX9, but loads in DX8. So here's my question, can anyone explain to me or if it is at all possible to get GTR2 v1.1 working in DX9 at all, or is it a lost cause?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found a solution elsewhere, here at NoGrip.. [Solution] How to get GTR2 running properly on Vista (http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?p=327301)

By right-clicking on the desktop icon and Run as.. Administrator, and clicking OK. the game now loads properly for me in DX9. :-D
