The AI bump me unless I take an inside defensive line, and I find it extremely easy to pass back if I purposefully bump them on the inside in the next corner.
Also, the exact time to start seems vague. Sometime between 1 and Go. At least for RT, you know if you start before the GO first appears then you are too early
