It was fun again.
In race 1 I had to battle from the back after an eventful first 300 m.
That was cool. I hadsome good chasing with Psyfungi, great stuff!
Wewaited for each other when one of us went off and in the end Psy won, he went off more than I and I crossed the line first. Ner-ner-ne-ne-ner.
I tried hard to figure out how Jukkelis was so fast with the lower powered and lighter Alpina on Sunday. The difference between both CSLs is very interesting. I did the same lap times in both and they need a slightly different approach, cool.
The stated top speeds of the cars in GTL car selection screen are off the mark I think. 236 versus 234 looks more like 240 versus 230 to me. The speed with which Psy was getting closer on the straight was challenging to say the least.
In race 2 we did all GTC76.
I must say, to do these, unprepaired on a track like this.....pretty exciting! :-D
Frex did a stunning 2.54 in his Capri!
Didn't look like I had any chance to keep up in my beloved RSR and I couldn't better my 2.57 from the CSL and 2.58.8 was all I could do in qualy.
On the first lap it went well though and sweeping, sliding, drifting through the first turns turns I stayed with Frex!
But the power of that Ford combined with Frex' daredevil flight skills, oh man!
In the middle stage I had lost him and was almost 4 seconds behind but then I started to learn the combo and understand the advantage of the RSR over the CSL that we ran before. Lap times were coming down and I was in the 2.56 now and concentrating like mad.
I was over the moon that I actually caught up with Frex at the end of the penultimate lap! He of course sprinted away on the straight but I knew there was still something left in the old Porsche.
I could run much faster into the tunnel and that's what I did, but in the wrong gear....NOOOOOOOOO! Crash, BAM, BOOM!
Psy was watching it live and uttered a very soothing; "oh no Caspar."
I needed that, I really did.
Frex won in grand style and I was lucky to keep second. Sturdy rig that Zuffenhauser automobile.
Great racing guys!
For Daz to show up without practice and Fillneuve doing the same 5 seconds before race time? RESPECT!
Can't say it enough, this track is wonderful!
I could race again today, no problem.
Caspar.

Yeah, had fun last night. A pity there weren't more people there (football on TV?) because it is a hugely fun fantasy track. Elements of Bathurst, Monaco... all sorts of interesting stuff.
To be honest, had a hard day at work and by race 2 I was... shall we (kindly) say "ready for bed". but glad to appear for both races.
With Joel's prolonged absence I'm on the verge of announcing a "series", maybe just 6 races. Given attendance recently I'm tempted to make it a SNR/WNR combined thing. And just to make things interesting I'd be open to the idea of recording points! Let's see if any NoGrip founders jump on me for that.
Ok, I'm off to see what I can find for next week. About time to get back in the GTC65's I reckon...:-)

Cheers Caspar! Was not the easiest track to learn in 3 laps of quali:ohmy:, but gave it a shot. Might have gone faster in race 2, but ran wide at the same corner 5 laps on the trot!!! Very frustrating, but far more enjoyable in the 906 compared to the CSL.
@Psy, points? Scary stuff, but whilst we wait upon the return of our esteemed leader, and we are racing on your server as well, it is totally your shout. I'd be up for it:thumbup:. Can we sort a handicap system of some sort, particularly if Caspar is going to keep beating me so handsomely!!:-P;-)

...@Psy, points? Scary stuff...
Narr. No chance of points, Daz, not NG style and already discredited (again) I believe in the Aussie P&G series.
I was just sorta venting (or throwing weird ideas out there to get people thinking/interested)
