For info on the L-88, see here; http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=14523

The ZL-1;
The 1969 ZL-1 all aluminum 427 cubic inch Corvette motor was the most powerful engine that was ever offered in an American built automobile. It was the direct descendent of the L-88 427 engine and the all aluminum Can Am racing engine of the same era. Although factory rated at 430hp, the actual output was more like 585hp (street) after tuned headers were installed in place of the restrictive factory exhaust manifolds.

If you're a dedicated Corvette fan, and you hear the words: Stars and Stripes, the first name that comes to mind is John Greenwood. John expressed his patriotism by painting his racing Corvette with an American Flag theme. His racer received a huge amount of attention wherever it was raced, and John's popularity skyrocketed. After winning the 1971 12 Hours of Sebring with co-driver Dick Smothers (of the Smothers Brothers fame), in a ZL-1 powered Corvette, he was approached by the B F Goodrich tire company. BFG was releasing a new line of high performance radial tires called the Radial T/A, and they wanted everyone to know about it.

So they agreed to give John a major sponsorship, only if John would run all of his races on the new Radial T/A's!! He did and was quite successful!! John's "Stars and Stripes" paint scheme changed slightly for the 1972 season with the BFG sponsorship, but was still highly recognizable. 1973 was the last year that John Greenwood raced his Corvettes with the near-stock body panels. His paint scheme changed again, but that didn't change his winning ways!

ZL-1 mod:- Chevy LZ1 427cid. 617hp (460Kw) @ 6700rpm - 565ft/lb (766Nm) @ 4000rpm, M22 gearbox. Both cars are capable of 300km/h+

Both cars are using umma gumma's beautiful updated C3 Corvette's (again), a big thank you.

To install, download and un-pack to a temp location of your choice, and install the 'GameData' folder directly to your main *:\GTL folder. Will not overwrite any other Corvette's installed. Will appear in showroom as Chevrolet Corvette L88 and Chevrolet Corvette LZ1.

Cheers and enjoy,
Bruce

nice!!

how about we combine our efforts, I can update the original car files with your modified engine files?

otherwise we'll have duplicate cars all over the place..might be messy?

unless anyone has a better idea? I'm all ears

As I've said before, I do not own GTR2, so therefore they are a GTL 'only' release (as are all of my 'mods').....but..if somebody/anybody would like to convert to GTR2, rFactor or what-ever, please, feel free (just remember where the mod came from though...;-) ).

....oh, and have fun trying to drive one in the wet........

Wow. A great car! :-D

Thanks that you´ve done this. Now if the M1 will be released there is a Corvette which is competitive for it ;)

Enjoying these cars... However did you change something in the handling? The car seems to stick less during turns than the stock game car. Maybe its just my imagination but it really seems like I have to slow down more than I should.

There is a slightly different tyre compound on the #48 car to try and match the B.F. Goodrich T/A's used in the day ( , just noticed I've incorrectly named the .tyr file, 'Bridgestone TA' ....... :der: ). The #8 car still uses the same GTL compound.....plus don't forget, you will be carrying some extra speed in these compaired to the 'standard' C3's in GTL.

Welcome.

Nice mod, but I have one problem.
I happened to accidentally turned off during the game engine (ignition key). And unfortunately I can not start it again (or pressing the ignition, or starter). Can that be so, or is it a bug in the mod? :?:

Greetings.
