How does GTL stack up against GT4 on the PS2?

People have said that GT4 is the greatest and nothing comes close, what does everyone else think.

I love GT4 and have always been a GT fan since the first release on the PS1. I know that GT5 is going to be something really special, but in the meantime, how does GTL compete.

I like GTL, but feel that it is let down slightly by the choice of cars, more specifically the lack of the lancia stratos, maybe not a classic gt race car, but an awesome car none the less.

Another let down on GTL is the nurburgring, I know that there is an excelent 3rd party release of the nurburgring Nordschleife, but having been round the real thing, the GT4 version is near perfect, except the hills dont compare to the real thing....

What does everyone else think? More specifiaclly about the vehicle dynamics, is GTL an contender for GT4's crown????

I have never driven GT4; so...........hearsay only ;) GTL has much better phyiscs. The tracks released with the game are top quality. I have seen a GT4 video of Nurby and driven it in real life - I have never seen any Nurby remotely as good as the Gt4 one. That said, the one in GTL is a great drive in itself :trophy:

Lets gtl:

graphics 100x better then GT4
physics 1000x better then GT4
sounds 100x better then GT4

GT4 has numbers going for it.....that being cars and tracks.....things that I have no interest for at all.

Cool, my feelings were that GTL was a better drive; eventhough I havent yet got my ass in gear and bought a steering wheel. Even with the sticks it is great fun, although catching some of the monsters like the pantera wheh they want to swap ends doesnt quite work using the PS2 dual shock controller.... :-)
I have played GT4 at my mates house on the DFP and its a whole different game with the feedback, it really opened my eyes. I cant wait to get my DFP to get teh most out of GTL. Maybe then I'll venture online for some real racing.... lol

Haven't tried GT4, but if you have a faible for vintage-cars, there's no way arround GTL. Still some little bugs, mainly online, but you can live with. The physics and grafics are brilliant and I can't imagine, that GT4 comes near or even beats it. Gt4 is more orientated to modern cars, even I've heard, there are some vintage-cars in, too. So for me the choose is easy! GTL rocks!

Very biased opinions here now :).

Now I wouldn't really compare these two directly for them being somewhat directed to different audiences.

I own both and play both. GTL is unbeatable online though GT4 has sort of 'online' mode. Graphically sure GTL is better but have to remember that GT4 is made for PS2 that is 5 years old technically.

So for multiplayer I'd choose GTL. For driving pleasure it's a harder decision. GTL is good but I also love the licenses in GT4 :D or taking a custom tuned car to a specific track.

I totally agree with Alex, but you forgot one thing:
Nordschleife 100x better in GT4.

Hope, a better version will come. Played yesterday gt4 after some months again and i was shocked how realistic the nordschleife is in gt4. they made a very food job, would be even better, if it would be possible to convert the nordschleife from there into gtl. Would drive that thing all day

That's an AMEN, GT4's ring is simply awesome, amazing how accurate all the scenary is in the game.

Come on, some genuis must be able to convert the GT4 track, I hope at least. Does anyone have anylinks to good site about track conversion etc? someone has to have looked into ripping the GT4 tracks, cos to be honest they are amazing tracks, I'd love grand valley on GTL.... :-)
