View Full Version : How to quick chat?

I just spend my first day of online racing and have a couple a basic questions.

I want to be able to be as polite as possible while racing and do not understand the conept of how the online chat works. I have set up the 10 chat messages but do not know how to use them. Do I simply hit the related numeric key on the keyboard, or do I use the numbers on the keypad, or am I totally of base? I tried pressing one the keyes and did not see a message appear. I did not know if the message was broadcast to the other players or not.
Also, how can I setup my .PLR file to link a couple of these messages to the buttons on my momo wheel? That would be safer than looking for the keys on the keyboard. I am amazed at how some of you can be messaging throughout the race. That's more than I can handle right now.

Also, I have noticed there are several private race events in the GTL lobby and was wondering how I could get involved in some of those. I have managed to finish all the races I entered today, but man there is a lot of madness out there. I'm looking to become more proficiant at finishing longer races of 10 to 20 laps consistantly, and am not that concerned with always being up front. I believe my speed will improve over time. I have running the AI races for well over a year and feel I now have the control needed to race with others and respect their space.

Thanks in advance for any advice that can be offered.

I expect someone can give you a fuller answer, here goes:

To chat in game: hit "c" on the keyboard and type what you want/can while driving.

You can programme buttons on the wheel and keyboard (I think keyboard) to say what you want in game.........just hit the button while playing. Programme the chat buttons in the Options menus, I think it was one of the tabs for the controller

Thanks for the reply Roger. I had the messages defined but did not have them linked to keys or buttons. If anyone else has this problem you need to go to Options/Control/Extra and scroll way down to the bottom to find the message/key definitions. You can link the messages to keyboard keys as well as buttons on your momo wheel. Thanks again Roger...
