For some actual reason a friendly reminder to our rules:
http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8758
Specially want to mention the first one! And it's valid for Sunday-evening races as well! We are not playing GrandTheftAuto or Flatout, so cutting out your opponents, ramming them when overtaking on straights - even there's room enough for more than two cars - or even worse, taking them out, isn't in our sense of fairness!
Ok, we are racing, so an incident can happen. But if it does, be so fair and don't drive on as nothing has happened and don't leave the guy behind you, whose race you have ruined! At least a "sorry" and to give him back his former position is the minimum you can do!
Also permanently overdriving a car isn't a fair behavior! Apart from outbraking yourself with this, it's a permanent danger for all others! We are racing for fun - not for money, cups or whatever! So no need to go over the limit all the time. We have much patiente for rookies, as far they try to drive clean and fair and keep out of the way of much faster and more experienced drivers. But we don't like people, who try to keep up with faster drivers and earlier or later ruin their race, because they are not able to keep their car under control!
As said, none of us is perfect and also experienced drivers do mistakes. But if it happens repeatedly within a few laps, you really should overthink your attitude!
In this sense,
Ralph.B (Moderator)

Mmm, does anyone else have a FPS issue with this track? I have used v1.1 before (still have it on another GTL install) & I get around 40fps. With the new v2, supposedly optimised for better FPS, I'm getting around 15fps. Virtually undriveable :-(

i give it a try. never seen this track before:)

9 January 09, 21:47
I'm getting some bad stuff going on too Geoffers. Never have less than 25fps, but seems to be stuttering quite badly on some areas of the track. Wierd, sort of mini stutters. Turned lots of stuff down, but no change yet. Fastest lap in these less than ideal conditions was 1.48.2, but half the time I'm either braking too much, or missing the apex due to the graphics....:?::-(

9 January 09, 22:00
Ok I think we should abandon TiAida & try somewhere else. Any suggestions?
Mogget
9 January 09, 22:09
That's a shame. It runs perfectly on my PC. I took the Moggstang out for a few practice laps, and then had a short 4 lap race against 24 AI cars. Framerates were super smooth :?:
rookiedaz
9 January 09, 22:14
Well, it's strange stuff all right. I've got it all turned down to low, and am getting 45-60 fps, but it still feels like it is stuttering, particularly in the hairpins near the end of the lap. Guess we all need quad cores and hum dinger graphics cards for this one...
Mogget
9 January 09, 22:15
If you're getting stuttering with framerates of 45-60fps, the problem must be something other than lack of horsepower.
bozont
9 January 09, 22:23
well i set details to medium except the players car, dx8 and no AA. on practice i had 100+ fps at 1600x1200. maybe you could try to turn off shadows.
maybe sachsenring 67 with gtc 65?:) or gtc-tc-76 again:twisted: its a fast and longer track .

9 January 09, 22:33
Like I said Mogg, it is wierd. Just feels horrible at times.
My specs, in case anyone isn't aware, are;
AMD X2 4200
Ati X1900XTX 512mb
2gig RAM
24" 245 syncmaster running at 1900x1200.
As a normality, it all runs pretty well, not the greatest, but hey, it's bought and paid for....

Last time i tried this track it seemed fine for me. I remember it from Toca World Touring cars on my old PSone, suits TC 65 very well. I see we're using another track anyway, that seems pretty good too

I think you'll probably see me in an Alfa or Cortina this time. I don't think that the V8s will be all that competitive at Gellerasen.
rookiedaz
10 January 09, 09:45
Cortina competitive is it? Oh good...
Cheers for sorting out Geoffers. Not sure I could have raced at Aida. Shame, as the track was very nice looking, and felt as though it would be giving close racing.

10 January 09, 11:11
I have just checked my baseline times for the STCC version of Gellerasen (it's called Karlskoga in that game), and my Falcon time isn't all that different from those of the Cortina and Alfa. Of course, these times are using default setup and automatic gears, so they aren't particularly quick. However, it does suggest that driving the Falcon might be a viable option....
As for Aida05, we are scheduled to race there in four weeks (the penultimate race of our (G)TC-65 league), so I had better check that the track is working properly for everyone.

Are we running the 05 layout? In any case they both run fine for me and it's a nice track - shame others had problems.
Haven't tried Gellerasen yet and don't know which car i'll take. Still not fully up to speed atm after setting up my new wheel and 3-pedal system after Christmas - big change from what i had before, and it's taking a lot of getting used to..

WNR post up with new track. Time to get the Alfa out and see what I can do.
Geoffers, are you proposing tracks you haven't done test runs on!?!? Sir, you must consider all! ;-)
As for a "Season", I wouldn't say I've been "working hard" :whistling: but I've got details of 8 new tracks (including FPS - eg, Sardinian Heights is out - down to 65 FPS on my fairly grunty machine)
Will do some more testing tonight.

Alfas, Cortinas? What's that!??? I was referring to the Abarth.:-P Didn't I mention this?
Really not shure, what car I should take out. For one I'm in the mood to do something crazy again and to choose really the Abarth or even the MK2. But on the other hand I'm afraid, I'll be alone with that choice again and have to fight only against some backmarkers, that have already wrecked their Alfas and Cortinas, so that they aren't really competetive anymore.
Maybe Bozont would be an adequate opponent, as far as he stays with the Mini and doesn't improve very much ..... ;-)

Seriosly, really have no glue what to choose this time. I'm halfways competetive with the already posted times here, when sitting in an Alfa. But also would give the slower cars a shot, if some guys also will join.
Or should I start a crazy poll a la GRAVITY: which car should Ralph.B choose for the Sunday-race at Gellerasen?
Cortina
Alfa
Falcon
Mustang
Abarth
Mini
Jaguar MK2
Stay away and leave racing to those with better skills

Mid 1'17's here in the Tina too after a bit of practice. Fuel is safe here as well which is always nice, about 5.5 laps from 5 laps worth. The exit from that hairpin is going to be the scene of many a spin in the rwd's :)
Ralph, anything that doesn't have a V8 or a prancing cat on the bonnet will be a good choice ;)

Not at all Psy, I have been chosing tracks I have raced before & I know are OK. But I hadn't realised that TiAida had recently had an update until after I had posted the race :cursing:. Still thought it would be OK as it stated it had been optimised for better fps. Wasn't until I DLed the updated version for practice I found the virtually undriveable fps. :banghead:

Aww, that was bull crap.
I had Pero covered by .7 in qualy and the rest of the feild a second with a 1:15.7...race started and on lap 1 Pero gave me a slight nudge and got by. 3 corners later I overtake him and clear him then my peddles randomly stop working. and I have to reconnect the cord running from the pedals to the wheel. so, the car stalls. I take forever to start it back up and I'm last about 6 seconds back from 26th place. I make my was back up to 16th and I can't pass Fillneuve. He was running a tight line, and when I finally got under him he came down a bit and I drifted up a bit and he spun. I went off track in the grass, spun the tyres and watch helplessly as I'm 27th again. I just gave up and left.
Sorry Fillneuve.

Bad race for me...
I joined in the last 4 minutes of the quali, so I did only 2 bad laps because I didn't have any setup and I didn't know very well this track (I've done something like 4 laps before this race).
Great start for me. From the last position of the start I went about to the 15th place, but on the first laps of the race someone hit me from the back and I spun (I don't know who hit me...but no problem). 20th position...I overtook a lot of cars but I hit another car in the same place and in the same way I crashed before (sorry for the stupid crash). At 32nd lap I got a stupid stop-go because I have a problem on a corner...I advanced too early the corner...So for me last position...
On the final lap, when I came on the track after stop-go I've behind an orange mini that needed to lap me, but I didn't see the blue flag (that is a little blue point) until the last lap...Sorry to him...Hope to didn't wreck his race...Sorry sorry sorry...
Thanks for the race men...Always good fun with you...Good track and...Very good drivers :D

Great race - Mogget was on it in the second part - great driving Mog.
First part was also good - L1 was very close (I didnt notice the nudge really - thought I just sliped by - sry for the nudge Beep). Than Beep lost pedals and so Daz was on me and chasing. We did cat and mouse for a fw laps, but I was slowly making a distance. Than Hans and Daz had the crash and I was quite a bit infront - wasnt going to go 30 laps without a battle so I decided to drop back (to eight or something) and went from there. After quite a few laps I was back to the front after twice passing a group of about three people when they had colided or nudged together trying to pass eachother. After that I tried to drive off with a reasonable quick pace, but Mog wasnt having that and was pushing me to the end.
Wednesday should be good.
Even for the TC65s that was a great race, loads of dicing and position changes throughout the field, great stuff!
Geoffers - no worries mate. Firstly, i was only in the lead anyway because of Beep's pedal problem, Daz and Hans's tangle, and Pero getting bored and backing off.
Secondly, in no way did you ruin my race - the field was so tightly packed that the action was just as good further down the order - never a dull moment right til the end. I'm sorry that you left..
Back for more on weds though. Congrats to Pero, commiserations to Beep.

Sorry for those, who had bad luck and couldn't enjoy the race. Me for my part did!
After I wasn't shure, which car to choose, finally decided for the Alfa. I think, it wasn't the worse idea. Qually isn't my strenght, so was happy, that the Alfa donated me a rank in the good midfield.
For my asthonishment the start and the fiirst lap went by flawless. Sometimes it became pretty narrow and I watched slight nuges here and there, but no one really spun and messed up a several other cars! Big compliment, Gentlemen!
After the first lap sorted in somewhere arround position 11 or 12 between Carl and Lade. Unfortunately in lap2 Malcolm nuged Kimi in the hairpin and a little pile-up was the result. Was directly behind Malcolm and to avoid a collision, had to take the emergency-exit. Lost several positions until I could sort in again and found myself in position 17 behind Filleneuve. Ok - so our almost traditional battle could continue in this race, too! As always I set him under pressure, but also in a nearly traditional way couldn't get around him - Trully of GTL, should I say more!:-D
After a several laps of desperate, but sucessless attempts to struggle him down, did two slight mistakes within one lap. Not only, that I lost a few carlenght to Filleneuve, also was caught by BeepBeep.
One lap later could do a successful counterstrike, when he himself also did a slight mistake in the last turn. But my triumph didn't last long, as he managed to brake me out again in the following lap.
Bad luck for Filleneuve and BeepBep happened annother lap later, when BeepBeep turned arround Filleneuve in his attempt of outbraking him. But what's ones misfortune is the luck for annother - in this case me. Won both positions in one strike.
But no time to rest - Psyfunghi was after me. Could hold him behind for the next laps until he made a mistake. But even this doesn't change much - now it was ASC's hot breath, that I could feel in my neck. For several laps I was able to keep him in a save distance, where he couldn't attack directly. But when we closed up to Kimi's Mini, I lost a few 10th per lap and now ASC was directly behind me. With a little mistake in T2 I finally opened the door for him and he could go in front in a clean pass.
But also his fun didn't last very long. Only a few turns later he messed it up, too and the old order was restored. And my luck continued - also Kimi did a big mistake and I got rid of both.
Now a bit more than half of the race was over. But still not one second to rest. Watty started to fill out my mirror. A hunt for about 10 laps started from now on. He didn't attack, but always was arround. It was a battle of nerves - we both know each other as pretty constant and save drivers, so I had not big expectations to get rid of him by his own mistake.
In the last 3rd of the race we closed up pretty quick to a group of battling cars.
But now my luck had lost me. Couldn't get arround Frex, who was the backlight of this group. And some times later it was Marty, after they had exchanged position. And damned - while I was fighting like mad to conquer Marty's position, I was snuffed by Watty. And to make the blamage perfect, he overtook Marty like nothing, while I was still hanging around behind him forever and a day.
So ended at position 10. Nothing to be written on my flag, but it was a great race, that wasn't boring only a second . Much thanks to all! I've only seen fast and fair driving. That's the old spirit of NG, that I always liked!
Congrats of course to the winners - well done, guys!

Interesting.....
Quali was not good for me. Immediately didn't like the track, and the Cortina felt like an understeering pig, and the regulars will know that pains me to say it about my favourite car.....Anyway, finally found some pace, and squeezed into 5th on the grid, 3 tenths off Peros time though......harumph
Anyway, the startline is my friend:-D, and by turn 1 was 3rd, watching as Pero and BeepBeep were side by side. Took advantage of Beep being offline at the hairpin to follow Pero through. As he said, I chased hard, and held him close for a few laps, but then he eased away as I came under attack from Hans. Poor beggar was desperately looking for a way past whilst trying to fend off his daughter, and he clipped me into turn 1, oh dear. Kudos for waiting Hans, shame we dropped down so far, unfortunately the engine stalled on me....
Found myself in7th or so, battling with Casper. I know full well how fast he goes, but in lining myself up for an attack, I pushed him just a fraction, so backed off on the straight to let him through. Laverda took full advantage (cheeky, nice!) and I had to do a nice move around the outside at the hairpin to get it back from him:-D. Attacked Casper at turn 1, with a bit of a block pass, sorry for that Casper, I winced slightly as I did it and did think about giving you the place back again, but Laverda was right inside you and I thought me slowing might cause more trouble. Hope it wasn't too harsh:-(.
Anyway, caught the leading group at a rate of knots, and was inside Ron going into turn 1. I thought at the time I had lost it on the brakes, but replay confirms a tiny nudge at the critical juncture, and round I went:ohmy:. No problem Ron, we were incredibly close on a narrow track, so racing incident with no blame as far as I'm concerned:-).
This had put me back to 11th though. To be honest, I can't remember who I passed up to the point where I was behind Laverda and Carl. Carl had the widest Alfa on the track in keeping Laverda behind, all fair though. Watched the two of them going at it for a lap or so, and I was able to pounce as Lav was slightly held up. Managed to squeeze past Carl, and I was off and running again.
There was about a 3rd of the race left, but I was in no mans land really, not going fast enough to catch the podium, but too quick to be caught from behind. Shame as the race had been hectic up to that point.
Car came alive a bit towards the end of the race as the rears lost their grip, but was still not to my liking. May have to try the italian rustbucket and see what kind of time I can get out of it before wnr:twisted::laugh:.
Great stuff again guys, catch you on wednesday!

That was one cracking race! After qualifying 4th on the grid, I made my usual sluggish start, and was overtaken by two or three before T1. Then I was sort of "squeezed" into the corner by the stampede, and suddenly I found myself down to 9th place :-( Still, I had been driving the Alfa really well on the TC65+ server, so I was ready for the challenge!
I can't remember the details regarding the first half of the race, but I do remember that it was great fun. Lots of close range action, and very few contacts at all. Great driving, guys  I enjoyed the close company of Frex, Caspar, Ron, and Geoffers in this part of the race, and it was intense stuff! Particular mention must go to Ron, whose orange Mini was dancing around me like a fast moving insect :-) We had a couple of minor contacts, but it would have been a miracle if we hadn't touched at all in such a close range duel.
Positions were chopping and changing on a regular basis, and I was just praying that we would all stay on the track, because it was some of the most exciting racing that I have ever experienced in GT Legends. Gradually, my consistency moved me up to 3rd place behind Pero and Frex. Pero then slowed down on the S/F straight (presumably to give himself some kind of challenge), and Frex took the lead. A slight error at one of the corners then allowed the two Minis (Ron and Geoffers) to move past me.
I can't quite remember the order of events that followed soon after, but I remember that Frex and Geoffers were unfortunately involved in a bit of a tangle, I had somehow overtaken Ron, and Pero had retaken the lead.
The second half of the race (as far as events are concerned) started for me then. Whether Pero inspired me or not, I'm not really sure. I just remember thinking that the longer I stayed on his heels, the happier I would be! Ron had been all over my ass earlier, but I gradually opened up a small gap whilst sticking determinedly to Pero's rear bumper :-)
That remained the situation for the rest of the race. We encountered a few back markers along the way (all of whom were perfect gentlemen), and although I was very close to Pero on several occasions, I was never in a position to make a serious attempt at overtaking. It would have been too risky, and I didn't want to spoil what was rapidly becoming a very good night's racing!
I think I was barely more than a second behind Pero when he crossed the finishing line, and I have never been happier to finish 2nd in a race :-)
I'll be driving the Cortina in the first race on Wednesday, so I'll be hitting the TC65+ server with this car tonight ;-)
PS. Kudos to Beep for some amazing speed in that Alfa
Great race for me :-)
Qualified 11th, and finished 5th. Lots of exciting little battles with everyone I met.
Special thanks to Carl, Caspar and Daz (impressive overtaking)

Firstly, big sorry to Kimi who I nudged pretty hard at the hairpin on lap 4 or 5 and lost him a place there:-(, and more so to Ralph who lost about 5 places trying avoid me  Apart from that incident, had a really fun race. Lots of battling with Lade, Kimi and Casper too for a while . Had a dice with Parroz but his Yellow Cortina was a little scary to have either in front or behind me, his car was warping like a spring and I didn't know quite where it was from 1 millisecond to the next :-D. All great fun though. I think I'll pick the Alpha for WNR, see if I can qually any better than 16th:-(

Don't worry about that! Wouldn't have won the race, no matter under what circumstances! ;-) So who cares, that my final rank was 10 instead of 7 or 8 without that incident. Had an entertaining race with permanent good action all the time - and that's more important for me than the endresult (exept a win perhaps, but that's more a fantasy with all those ultra-fast drivers arround)!

:banghead:
Moral, don't believe everything you read!
No problem, mate. I jest. Jest what? Jest suggested you were... I give up. :-D

lol, I did the 16.2 after the pedals gave out and I was passing cars..race would have been full of 15's and total domination if the pedals had not crapped out.
Oh well, can't wait til Wednesday.
