I've been testing the tentatively proposed Season 3 cars at the DAF Topgear test track (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=12702). Its a great track (though very flat), and the camera angles are similar to those used on the show - the replays are quite immersive and a lot of fun.

Using Time Trial mode, the laps were timed from a standing start, like on the show. Its easy to get lost until you learn the track (ignore the pit-arrow, turn left to the start-finish line).

I'll post the times for other cars when I do a decent lap. If any one submits a better time I'll update this first post - yes YOUR name in all its glory!

The Stig is currently on holidays at Red Rock with his wife and kids, so these times WILL fall in a weeks time.....

I suggest that setups can be tweaked - and maybe the best could be uploaded later? Lets see what these beasts can do!

Shelby Daytona Coupe - 1:25.570 (hoss)

Chevrolet Corvette C2 L88 - 1:25.228 (zoomie)

Shelby Cobra 289 - 1.26.258 (fast freddy aka speedy)

Jaguar e-type lightweight - 1:26:6 (ponderosa)

Lotus Elan 26R - 1:24:6 (ponderosa)

Are you using the default setup?

I've got a time with the L88, only change being steering lock. Not in time trial mode though.

Time for the L88 was 1:26.667

It can most definitely go faster with a better setup :P

EDIT: This was with the blue penske-sunoco coupe too btw

I suppose as long as its from a standing start at the start/finish line it is valid.

Setups can be tweaked. Maybe the fastest setups could be uploaded?

Yes please! And I know what you mean about learning the track!

I love this car - until its time to use the brakes. And it sounds as good as it looks. Yummy!

Yet to try the corvette. Nice lap in the L88 Zoomie!

Hi dudes, tried the Jag out this arvo, man she is a tail-happy beast but lots of fun, did a 1:26:6 on 10 laps fuel, green spot tyres...standing start of course.

Just did a few laps in the little Lotus, she is a sweet, sweet ride although it may be suited to this style of track.
Got a 1:24:6 on 10 laps of fuel, green spot tyres, as the prof said we need to try a few of the cars each over the next fun races to see what we think of them on different tracks.

Seeing as how the track was designed by Lotus, it should be no surprise it suits a lotus lol.

I'm hopeless with the jag btw. Still going to try and get a decent lap later.

Yup, the Shelby is great, until you have to slow the fecker down. It was sometimes veering left, sometimes right for me. And at Le Mans, where there is a big stop, it can happen every time you drop a gear!

Let me know how you do it - I just used to to brake A LOT earlier than in any other car. Usually you can make it back up once you get on the juice again.

I couldnt help myself guys I had to help out. I took the shelby 289 for a run , and with a few changes made, it made for a nice car to run and very quick whilst stopping good. did 1.26.258 lap. could even be confident for high 1.25 secs with a few more runs.
This can only be decided by 1 person only, some say he was a stunt driver for james bond movies, others say he test drove formula 1 cars, but we only no him as the STIG.

You guys are too damn fast. I gave each car a few laps and got something like:

Elan, L88 26s
Daytona, GTB, Volumetrico, 289 in the 29s.
Jag 4speed 30s (Ponder, your laptime blows my mind)
Alpine 1300 30s as well, but a better lap than most of the others.

Those big boys in row 2, I was amazed how similar the times were (and how horrid they were to drive).

PS Actually the Alfa Volumetrico isn't a big boy, its a small boy with massive coconuts. It's insane.
