View Full Version : HotLaps at Oulton International

Can someone help me? I've downloaded the No 1 & No 2 Hotlaps for Oulton International but they don't replay right in GTR2? I've got the version of Oulton I downloaded from here i.e. the MotorFX_philrob version. Could these hotlaps have been made on another version of the track (or maybe the cars they used were different but as I only have the orginal cars on my PC just now they should show?

Not an answer. more of a hijack really, but why can't it be made so that the hotlaps section links you to the correct download. Such as Oulton is selected from the drop down list, it shows the times as normal and also links to the correct dl page? Once again, sorry to hijack AllanGP, but I think this would stop problems such as yours from happening in the future.

Eddie, I thought about your idea and downloaded the "Zwiss" versions of Oulton but the Hotlaps from the top two guys still don't play so I guess it will need an admin (or at least someone more knowledgeable than me) to give me a clue.
Although the upside looks like the zwiss Classic version will use Knickerbrook one of the best corners on any track anywhere but I can't try it until tomorrow night!
I have suggested the stuff f.ex. to put a correct download link for the track by the track name in the Top listing. But maybe there have been so many cooks in duty that nobody actually knows what track selection should be used with what track.
This is an excerpt from my v2 script:
o 'Oulton Park International' has been used with internal track names:
[OULTONPARK.TRK] (2 hits) and [PARK_INT.TRK] (8 hits)
This Oulton is one of the troubling tracks as also "the other" Oulton version (Fosters or what ever) seems to have two different tracks used with.
There are two Oultons in the download section: Oulton Park 2005 (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=15345) and Oulton Park 3 layouts (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=2812). Probably the track you need is the other you already have.

Yes I've got both Layouts one with three tracks, one with 4 tracks (2005). At first I thought it might be simple because I had slightly renamed the download from Zwiss which was "_OultonPark2005" and I have called it "Oulton Park 2005" but that didn't work. So then I thought it might be because the 4 tracks were under the Main Folder so I moved each track into "Locations" in their own folders and the three seperate files with this down load (Oulton2005.gtr, Oulton2005maps.gtr and Road_S.DDS) into Locations also. It still didn't allow me to play either Hot Lap. The Motorfx Phil Rob version has the International circuit files only under the Main Folder of Oulton, so in that respect it mirrors all the other Track folders and as this is the one the times are claimed for it should allow the Hot Laps to be played but no joy I am afraid.
I don't know if you have tried running the files but I guess I am stuck without those replays, which would be good to see them (to help me go quicker!!).
I guess it is something really simple like the way the files are named and a mis match stopping the play?
The files do run but the car is not on a track and the graphics are all messed up.
that underscore with swizz's Oulton seems to be its default name, nothing wrong with that, I suppose (I didn't actually test it).
BUT I had to open both eyes to see that there were MORE Oulton's available. I opened those top .vcr files enough to see that they will need a track with an internal name of PARK_INT and that seems to be the FBI version of Oulton (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=2382). Of course I had to download all of them until I found the correct one.. :-P C'est la vie.

Thanks for that, I'll try downloading the FBI version, probably on Wednesday now and post some feedback after that. For now I'm going to bed happy that I've just set the 4th fastest time using zwiss's Oulton 2005, which is really nice (and I've left him a message in downloads to thank him). So only 4 seconds to find................. and you can see my current lap was scrappy

Okay, aSa, I downloaded the FBI version and both Hotlaps play, so now I know the time was set there. No time to try myself tonight but it's the next thing I will do!
One question does the Red & White kerbstone count as the road surface? If so great I need to know. If not the Edgecrusher lap has 4 wheels off the "track surface" at the Knickerbrook chichaine second part. Doc's lap looks good.
The rules are here (http://www.nogripracing.com/hotlaps/gtr2.php?do=rules).
You must keep 2 wheels on the track surface at all times - the track surface is defined as the tarmac and the red/white painted kerbs next to it.

Doh........... I had read the rules but not that well, still more "track surface" to position the car on:laugh:
So I think this closes this thread and thanks for all of your help, I am starting to get to grips (no pun intended!) with GTR2, shame I bought it in 2005 but didn't upgrade my PC enough to run it well until last September........ kids eh!?
