Is there any way to lower the difficulty of the ai below 100% in sim mode?

I'm quite happy driving with all the driving aids off, but i can't keep up with the ai yet. I don't really want to spend time in semi-pro mode, but its not nice to lose races all the time, ruins the enjoyment of the game!

Is there any difference between semi-pro and sim mode other than the allowed driving aids?

Cheers for the help :-)

You can always drive in semi-pro or whatever level you want and disable aids ;-)
Just do it by pressing F1, F2, F3 and so on (look at the top of your screen), or editing your PLR I think ...
What you cannot do is enable Aids in sim mode

Try to use semi-pro with 95% and all aids off, it's almost the same. Me as keyboard player I'd like to be able to go 120%+ on semi-pro with traction control and anti-lock at low.

i dont get all these people saying they race on 120%, if theres that many fast people then why arent the hotlaps section full of amazing laps and why are so many people looking for better setups and stuff, now i aint done a GT1 race for months and ive improved a little since then, point is tho i used to race on 100-105% and get a good race, i doubt i could go above 110% now and yet on a lot of simbin tracks i could make the top 10-15 in the hotlaps section.. yet theres many people claiming they race at 120% :?:
example being, i can set 1.23.0 at anderstorp in lambo, which is fast, but i doubt i could win a race at 120% there??

sorry rambled a little off subject, and to answer the oringal question yeah stick it on semi pro and take all aids off, stick it at what difficulty you want then, i know for a fact tho that you can race at pro/simulation difficulty and leave abs and tcs on, my buddy does, but im not sure what he modded to do this, i dont need to know anyway! :-P

if I use tcs in GTR2 or Evo I go off the track  I know it sounds funny but the car feels like dope, its like a robot.

I don't hotlap...I'm just persistent over the entire race without restart or save/load buttons. First stint they all pull away from me, and I probably qualify 10th to 15th. After the first pit stops I already regain the time of a tire change which I don't need to do. By the 3rd pit stop, the AI has had some tricky times lapping the backmarkers that I know in the 4th stint I'm on the podium.

ahh i see, ok, also i didnt think about the long stint/race bug with the a.i where they inexplicably slow down, so a lot of these guys claiming to race at 120% may be competitive cos of that, the longest ive ever raced is around 35 laps if i remember and never noticed the ai drop a lot of speed by that point tho!
and i just realised you qual 10-15th?? with a keyboard, that would need top 10 hotlap pace surely? cos the ai quals around 3-5 secs a lap quicker than their race laps (at 105%) so at 120% that blistering!?

Is the AI any faster on Pro than Semi-Pro at the same percentage?

I don't think I am massively quick, in fact I know I am not very good. I find 110% suits me for Le Mans races (which is where I spend the majority of my time). On rare occasions that I venture outside la sarthe then I generally lower the percentage a tad. Would changing the difficulty level really make any difference?

My race set up at Monza lets me do with the 550 at semi pro, keyboard, traction low, anti-lock low, everything else off in a full season race (87laps):

No traffic, perfect lap, fuel 20 to 75l: 1:42,2

Traffic, perfect lap, fuel doesn't matter(this should be normal race conditions): 1:42,9 to 1:43,7

Heavy traffic or slight mistake: 1:43,5

Tires above 35% mark or group 4+ backmarkers at the Lesmo's: 1:44,5 to 1:45,5

Race set up hotlapped: 1:41,865

Is the AI level different in different mod/car set? I can usually keep up with 100% AI in regular FIA cars, but running something like the JGTC cars and for the life of me I am always 2-3 sec off....

I have few mods in my GTR2, but I have yet to encounter a serious bias to AI %.

you're a fast boy with the keyboard man  great work, im not mad on monza but ive done enough laps and my hotlap best is a low 1.41, only about 1/2 a sec faster than you, i have no driver aids on except auto clutch (yeah i know im a sissy! ) and i have a G25... my race pace tho would be low 1.43's i reckon, cos i hotlap 2 secs quicker generally on longer tracks and about 1- 1.5 secs a lap quicker for shorter tracks (you can push harder in time trials)

yes certain mods have different difficulty levels, the detirmining factor for this is the .rcd (talent) files for the particular cars... the default simbin ngt or gt parameters might not work the same for certain mods, some modders do talent file and some dont, but your usually best tweaking this yourself ;-) there is plenty of .rcd (talent) file threads on nogrip if you need them!

I'm running in Semi-Pro with everything off but with the TC on low. I can't seem to get my G25 set up correctly so I give myself a little help for now.

I've noticed variations in challenge/comp for me between 100-103% on AI depending on the track and if it is an add on.

I ran a great long race (2 hours) at Lime Rock recently with max grid and the AI did not drop off at all- lap times were spot on and getting less during fuel burn off by both me and the comp. AI was at 103% and I was a sweaty mess at the end of 2 hours of fast laps in a lot of traffic and no AC here.... The best race I've ever had- a ton of fun for
2nd overall.

I switch to 103% at another track the next day and I'm in the weeds and having to notch the AI back a few just to keep it fun. It is what it is- I keep notes and make adjustments as I get better or the track is noticeably better for the AI.

As for 105%? I got a ways to go.....

There is a way to make it possible to lower the AI. Im usually driving with AI around 95-97%. If I just could remember... I think I changed it in the plr-file.

Sim mode is the only one that gives all the settings full effect. Try map your driving in MoTeC when in Semi-Pro and youŽll see that some car settings just wont do any differance.
