It is time to continue season 4.
This time we're having an interesting duel, that ought to be a lot more even than it looks like on paper...
Cars:
Kiplali's Austin Healey 3000 Mk 1
http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=757
and
YorT's AC Cobra 427
http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=720
Stage: Original Finland 4
The Cobra has an awful lot more power than the Healey, but bumpy road and a rainy day may just make that advantage a disadvantage....
Event type: Hotlapping - drive as much as you like and upload your best time. If you improve your time, you can upload another replay and delete the old one, within the time limits, of course
Rules:
We will use the usual RULES.
TT Realmod2005 is mandatory -get it HERE (http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=671)
Race starts on Friday 22.09.2006 at 19:00 GMT
and closes on Friday 29.09.2006 at 19:00 GMT
You can check the time HERE (http://www.worldtimezone.com/) or HERE (http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/)
IMPORTANT
If you're unsure how to install the car (or even the TT Realmod), see the readme -files (and browse/search these forums) for more information.
Good luck and have fun!

Damn hard to catch/hold slides without a steering wheel ....

I remember that Healey was very tricky to drive because it has open differential. So i'm going with Cobra :

The Big Healey Here too!
Tricky to drive, but once you get the hang of it (like me :p ) pretty fun to slide around... Would like to see what someone who really CAN drive this car can do

I can't get the big Healey to download, so does anyone mind if I go with the V1.0 from October 2005? Unless I find I can keep the Cobra in its basket, of course, which seems unlikely.
kiplali
24 September 06, 11:37
The only difference between the 2 versions is that V1.0 had a wrong sized info tga file which didn't work on some PC's... so no problem using that. Great to see you back mate:up:

After backing-up everything (before adding the realmod), then installing add-on tracks, thus messing up the originals, is it enough to copy the backed-up track files to the track folder?
Zieman
26 September 06, 16:20
The Realmod updates some of the track data too. Probably easiest would be to restore FTC cars and default tracks from the CD and then install Realmod again, just to be sure.

Austin Healey for me, can't resist that lucious soundtrack.

Okay, just did that.
Had a couple of clean runs before, like without sinking in a lake or stuff ;)
between 2:59 and 3:04, but I´ll try again now before uploading a new time replay.

What a ride:eek::

Hello,
no Rallyfan, you won't be last... How can you drive the Cobra so fast with a keyboard? With my gamepad I cannot drive 50m in a straight line with the Cobra...
My best run in the Austin HELLey (this is the right name for the beast) is +3.5sec. to yours...
Seems that Midi and Per have found a significant shortcut :D in the stage.

I have driven with k/b as long as i remember, that is the reason why i sometimes have decent race results i think
I think my limits would have ended at 2.46.xx in this race though...

Some comments (quoted passages from my discussion with kiplali):
JamesGT: "...drifts into the barrier bounces off, hits it again and runs along the barrier for about 3 cars lengths until the end of the barrier..." => 5 sec penalty
ernbar: "...ran straight to a tree. Technically he continued the race after the hit on wrong side of the tree, but there wasn't much of a corner and coming to a complete stop is IMO enough penalty..." => no penalty
YorT: I feel bad for giving you the 1 sec penalty, but we have our rules, and even my careless boasting won't change that. With this I mean that since I couldn't improve my time, it is a bit embarassing to give you a penalty that reverses our final positions in this race.
Overall: nasty stage and tricky cars. Cobras eventually dominated the event.
Thanks to all who raced, fantastic driving, and congratulations to pjakesson for victory :trophy:

Hello,
yes, very hard to drive, but fun at least...
seems that we always have two aliens :D which race with us...

PS: In the replay section I have uploaded a "wild dancing" Austin Healey, think it's the same bug like the "dancing" Abarth 695.

That OK mate, its what we call a racing incident in the game!! :P Got to go with the flow, roll with the punches, and try and do better next time. ;)

Whoever thought to use Cobra at a rainy asphalt stage was nuts but i mean that in a good way :D

A good rally. 7th was a good position for me.
Does anyone know anything on the damage to the cars.
What file is it, and can it be edited?

Thanks,
I don't know why I this stage suited me. Perhaps driving a lot of
GPL has helped me, overpowered cars with low grip
resembles this stage/combo.
looking forward to next (real rally) race

Are you talking about the amount of damage a cars sustains at a certain speed??
If you are then this is located in the car.ini
# min/max damage speeds (m/s)
DamageSpeedRange = {6.0, 11.0};

No, what l'm looking for is the file that alters things like the handling, loosing top gear, and basically the driveability of the car.
lf you take a car in RT and keep crashing it into a tree, or roll it down a cliff face, eventually the car handling is altered.
In RT it is also possible to retire. I retired once when playing around with Audi S1 at some kenya stage. :)
