View Full Version : Silly Newbie Questions - I & II

I'm sure this is but the first of many newbie questions I'll post...

I've both GTR & GTL, but only raced them off-line. GTR2 will be my first venture on-line with this series, but I do have some on-line experience with N2K3 - mainly the Trans Am & GTP Mods. So, many will be in reference to things I know I can do in them...

The first question regards replays. Is there a way, on-line, to view a replay file? If I run a couple laps, can I go back and watch myself? More importantly (for me) - can I watch some of the other cars to see how they're running? I think I can watch other cars live if I'm in the pits, but can't figure out how to see a replay of mine. (Short of exiting the event and going to the replay section from the main menu.)

Second - there are only so many cars available to select from when joining on-line. Is it possible to have multiple drivers in the same vehicle - i.e. tomorrow night can we have 3 or 4 #29 Ferrari's or #4 Saleen's on the track at the same time?

Thanks in advance...

Scott

First answer: yes and no. What you can do is set a instant replay time to a relative high setting so it covers multiple laps. This way you can watch the last couple of laps, but only once and what's even worse: leaving this setting on during a race seems to give you quite a hit on fps and performance. The option you're missing from N2003/GPL unfortunately isn't available in any ISI based sim, like GTR/GTL/GTR2/etc.

Second answer is simpler: yes. You can have a 30 car field all driving the exact same car. There is only one way where this wouldn't be possible and that's when the host has disabled that option. I seem to recall some option in the dedicated server settings where one could choose to only accept every car once. Usually this will be off though.

while you are in multiplayer mode there are no replays available unless you exit the race. However, there is a way to see the other cars. First, click drive, now you are sitting in your pit idling. To see the other cars and what they are doing press the + button on the numeric keypad. This will cycle you through all of the other vehicles. Use the insert, home, PgUp, and PgDn buttons to cycle through the different views on the car you are viewing. When you hit the page up button you are in wing view. Now on the numeric pad use the 8 button to raise the view, use the two button to lower the view, 4 and 6 swing that camera around for a side view. The 7 and 9 buttons will zoom you in and out.

I hope this helps you, have fun!

Thanks, Guys, 'preciate the input. I'm playing on-line & off, getting the hang of this. Had a couple issues where I programmed certain keys to perform a function, only to find out I've disabled (removed the key) from another! Would be nice if they warned you before you did that...

Anyway, thanks again ... I'm sure I'll have more questions as I play more & more...

Cheers,
Scott
