After screwing around with the Logitech profiler for weeks trying to find the best settings, at least for me. I said, I can't do it. I must really suck at this. Not wanting to be left with that feeling :o I thought, why don't you just turn it off (Exit the program, I know it says your controller will not work properly, but it will.) and see how it feels. Well guess what, the first time I drove without the profiler I picked up 2 seconds a lap at Road America just by using the ingame adjustment menu. YMMV but It is at least worth a try.

Personally I've never used the profiler with any of my Logitech wheels.

I haven't used the profiler yet other than to try and assign my left wheel button to the "/" key so I could use it to transmit in teamspeak.

I had no luck dispite following the instuctions so not used it again since :(

Ditto.. I never ever use it.. and have it shut off from starting with windows. The only time it runs is a driver installation.

I use it because i don't know any better..... where do i setup those options you see in the profiler. Like for each game.
Just seems way easier than going in and editing some file.... im new to sim racing.

I'm awaiting my MOMO to arrive today.

Does anybody know do you need the profiler to split the axis for the accel and brake pedals? I know with profiler you can spit them to use 2 axis so that you can use the brake and accelerator at the same time. Part of the reason I want the MOMO is to left foot brake.

Can you do that without the profiler?

You don't have to run the profiler in order to split the axes, no. The control panel setup program allows you to do that, so you don't need to run the Profiler at all.

Nice one Heeby, 1 less piece of bloatware to install.

Just go to the control panel in windows.. Then make a shortcut to "game controllers" on your desktop.

Then it is very quick and easy to make changes to your controller settings.

Just double click on the controller- then "settings" button" -->

I have about 4 Sims I play mostly- GTR2, RBR, rFactor, and LFS.. Easy to memorize your settings for each, and easier the fewer games you use with your wheel.

Funny, I'm getting a new PC and G25 today and am searching for the actual windows settings (FF strength, spring, damper, etc) and came across this thread....I've never used profiler either and was wondering if it was necessary with the G25. I always thought it was just stupid and never saw any benefit. Others swear by using profiler and I always wondered what I was missing. Obviously nothing! LOL!

Hmmm... weird!

I tried to disable the single-axis pedal choice for my FormulaGP and couldn't get it to work, so I ended up installing the Profiler, which managed to disable it with no problems. I do seem to have slower laps ever since, but I haven't linked the cause to using the Profiler... I thought I just sucked after not playing for 2 weeks in a row!! :(

That's because you probably need to do a clean installation of the drivers to begin with.. It would work with just the windows/ game controller / control panel if they were installed right.

Well... I just had a fresh install of XP and SP2 right before trying it and was plugging all my peripherals back. I was able to disable the single-axis pedal choice without the Profiler before the re-install. I did had to update the USB drivers afterwards because they were stuck in 1.1 when they could use the 2.0 interface... perhaps that played foul on me... hmmm... Windows, bah!

Yeah there's the whole USB subsystem.. That can cause problems too.

Hey what you do is install profiler and set up the wheel and pedals then close it and make sure its not running in the system tray, then run GTR2. I have found this seems to keep the pedal settings but gives me the better gameplay and faster laps. IMHO!
Give it a try!

I'll stand up for the Profiler for one single function that I've found useful with my MOMO, admittedly in GTL, not GTR2 yet.

You can map a button as "Shift" and then the remaining 9 buttons then have "Unshifted" and "Shifted" meaning. Almost doubles the number of buttons you have.

So, I've got bottom right button mapped as the shift button, and I've mapped the other 9 buttons in shift-mode to keystrokes CTRL+1 - CTRL-9, ie, the Chat commands.

And I've still got the remaining 9 buttons in unshifted mode for other functions: gear-change, look-left/right, pitspeed limiter etc.

I can say "Go Left" (or any of the chat commands) without lifting a finger from the wheel.

Ok, so Profiler's not the "Killer App", but it can be useful.

I don't use the profiler but i let it run just so that the buttons can be assigned as buttons adn not assigned as other keystrokes that the game have already been used for something else. ;)
