View Full Version : Two strange anomalies in GTR2

I thought I had a usable replay of a good race performance in the Ferrari 550 at Magny Cours GP but imagine my surprise when I viewed it and found:
1. The AI car I passed to grab #2 position in the race was invisible in the replay, so the only visible record of the pass is the top left-corner text announcing that I'd transitioned from #3 to #2
2. In the replay (which isn't really a replay but a recreation of the race using recorded driver inputs) I spun into the sand at Grande Courbe, thus ending my race. In "reality", I pushed it at Grande Courbe on that lap but stayed just within the traction limits, never spun out and finished the race second.
Relatively minor glitches but aggravating. Would anyone like to comment?

how many cars visable in your settings?
AI cars can be invisible if that setting isn't above how many cars are in the race..

I had that happen to me on a replay from V8Supercars Race Driver 3 on Xbox. I won the race but on the replay I spun on the first lap onto the grass and didn't get going again. Wierd.

I had a similar problem in a Imola race, I won the race.. but in the replay I crashed with a car :S and lost my right front wheel. then replay continues until finish he race time I did. It was so strange. then after two more races I had the same strange problem... then a friend told me he had the same problem jajajaja......... well, it happened in gtr & gtr2..
Funny and unfortunate errors! I once studied a race I did at Spa and noticed that some of the AI cars in the top 10 positions had crashed into each other so badly that they sort of flipped sideways but then instantly was put in a correct possition and continued to race as if nothing had happened. Another thing was that I saw a car going halfway into the road on an uphill drive. Weird.

In the flightsim LockOn, it replays the action in a similar
manner. By this I mean the replays are generated by the
user (and AI) input, and the visuals are drawn as if the
game was being played through the inputs.
Lock On very easily 'crashes' when the replays do not
get 100% CPU power, and or if the graphics are turned
up with a too high detail.
Try lowering the replay fidelity, and make sure that nothing
else is running in the background.

Yup GTR2 replays are totally screwed up.. More often than not there are huge problems with them.. Too bad they don't release a damn patch to fix some of the most glaring problems.

the playstation had the same problem with F1- but never on Gran Tourismo. - It seems that the replay remembers the input from the user then transfers it to the replay track. However if there is a slight glitch which causes your car to hit another vehicle - or object or even put its tyres on the grass where you didnt. Then instead of correcting itself by rembering your correct position. It feeds your inputs in to the situation.
Lets say you had full power on but were on the grass. Your car would just spin out and while your inputs should really be hammering your car around the track. All it does is cause the replay to spin and bounce around on the grass for all the race. very annoying when you thought you would have a decent replay to watch.

On some of my replays the wheels on the cars don't turn or spin at all!
mbe setting the replay fidelity to a higher level would also provide better race playback as well? i am not home now, but remember seeing an option to adjust reply quality.
cheers...
