I have damage set to 100% and have done a full 100% race distance 2003 season with no failures/damage to my car. I was often over the rev limit which I have read elsewhere should mean a reduction in my engines lifespan, yet I finished every race.

So what is the correct % setting for real mechanical damage? The manual is very unhelpfull about this!

Did you have your Mechanical Failures turned off? You have options in here; off, normal, timescaled or real (not looking at game right now so going from memory:confused:: ). If you had your damage at 100% but mechanical failures off then that would be why you had no failures. I have raced online with timescaled failures and seen a whole load of 550's blow their engines on one race alone.

I've got mechanical failures set to normal (there is no real) which I presume is real.

I've set damage to 200% which I'm presuming is the real damage. Altho I find the choice of scale weird....100% should be the max!

I was noticing in the .plr file these lines:

[ Mechanical Failures ]
CURNT Failure Rate="1" // Mechanical failure rate (0-none, 1-normal, 2-timescaled, 3-season)
PRACT Failure Rate="1" // Mechanical failure rate (0-none, 1-normal, 2-timescaled, 3-season)
QUICK Failure Rate="1" // Mechanical failure rate (0-none, 1-normal, 2-timescaled, 3-season)
FRACE Failure Rate="1" // Mechanical failure rate (0-none, 1-normal, 2-timescaled, 3-season)
CHAMP Failure Rate="1" // Mechanical failure rate (0-none, 1-normal, 2-timescaled, 3-season)
MULTI Failure Rate="1" // Mechanical failure rate (0-none, 1-normal, 2-timescaled, 3-season)
RPLAY Failure Rate="1" // Mechanical failure rate (0-none, 1-normal, 2-timescaled, 3-season)
TIMET Failure Rate="1" // Mechanical failure rate (0-none, 1-normal, 2-timescaled, 3-season)
DSCHL Failure Rate="1" // Mechanical failure rate (0-none, 1-normal, 2-timescaled, 3-season)

Wonder what changing these to season would do.
Has anyone messed with this?

Watch out GUPSTER!! That may damage your damage settings... :D
(sorry, couldn't resist. Dunno what they do though, I'm code-newb)
