Hi all. I just got GTR2 a few days ago and am having a blast learning the ropes of GT racing. I'm mostly into NASCAR so this is a bit different for me.

I'm working with the motec software which is loaded and running fine, but it would help me if I could find the GTR2 sample project along with the log file used in the Motec Pro Guide that is found on the web. I had the impression that the sample was preloaded, but I can't find it anywhere.

I'm currently working on Anderstorp in the Saleen and am having a lot of trouble breaking 1:30. Occasionally, I can get into the 1:29's but that's more luck than anything. I'm hoping that tuning my car with the software will help which is why I need the sample project to help better figure how it works.

Thanks in advance and hope to meet (and beat) some of you on the track someday.

The sample project usually comes with motec and not with GTR,

When your in motec, create a new project (of type circut racing) and then choose open log file from the menu. In the default folder that opens in motec (C:\MoTec\Logged Data) there is a sub folder called samples, and another folder in there called Circuit.

If you open that file you will see data exactly like you would get from GTR.

I can't help with the sample, I've never seen it either. However I find the most useful tool in the Motec arsenal is the section times. If you are doing 1.29's there is probably a 1.28 or even 7 in you somewhere. If you do a long run driving flat out you can find that optimum lap. It will be displayed! When I located the places where I was losing time and focused on getting those silky smooth the lap times came tumbling. And it was then and only then that setup changes showed whether they were gaining me time or losing me time. Hope that helps, if you already knew it please disregard. In the mean time I will look for the sample and if I find it I will post.

Thanks for the replies. I did see the section times tab in the samples and looked at my logfile using the sample project setup, but have not really checked it out carefully. As you mentioned it looks like a good way to check my times and work on certain areas. Thanks for that tip. I probably would not have thought of using it that way immediately.

I guess I got caught up in using the GTR 2 sample to study even to the point of trying to recreate it myself. I was off to a good start, until I realized:

1) This is gonna be a LOT of work
2) I don't know what I'd do with the information even when I finished it, lol.

So I'm just using the sample layout and workbooks using my logs, but working through creating my own project was very helpful.

I do appreciate you guys help and input.

BTW, I managed to pull off a 1:28:8 last night, so It's comming. I haven't checked the Motec data to see the "theoretical" lap time yet. Not too bad for having the Sim for 3 days, I think... I'd be happy with doing consistent 1:25's, if that's possible.

Another helpful tip that took me ages to find is to have the motec redraw the map from a nice clean lap. This is because it draws the map from your first lap which in my case was always diabolical. You can also edit the sections that are timed, so you can pinpoint specific parts of the circuit. If you are particularly mad or avid (take your pick) you can pinpoint entry, midcorner and exit, that sometimes helps with longer corners where you're not quite sure where the time is ebbing away.

Goodluck though your times say you don't need it. I think someone did a 1m 24.1s but I suspect that there was TC and ABS.

Thanks. I'm not a total stranger to sim racing as I used to race a good bit in the NASCAR 2003 "board races" when Paprus had its forum way back when. Haven't done it much since then, though. Not till now. NASCAR is way easier than this, though... I saw a 1:22 somewhere, but I've no idea how that is done.

I'm not using any driving aids, but isn't ABS legal in FIAGT?
