RFactor or GTR 2? I don't have RFactor and was curious since I know there is an option to race F1 cars.

there are more mods for r-factor but gtr2 is a newer game but there are plenty of mods being added every day for gtr2 there is an r-factor demo so give it a try its all personal preferance

If you want to race F1 cars then get rFactor.

GTR2 has better graphics. That might explain the difference in FPS.

So it wasn't my imagination then? You really don't feel the cars are under you. Is it a setup issue or a sound issue perhaps? If memory serves they both use the same graphic engine, is that right? The frame rates are very good in rFactor.

The biggest problem is the name tho :roflmao: Shouldn't it be Rfactor?:

One thing i really like about RFactor is that you can add AI cars to an online race which GTR/2 does not enable you to do. Good when you and a mate want a race and up the stakes with fast AI cars.

I found the F1 cars hard to handle and prefer the GP2 mod.

Or, perhaps, replies without the word 'noob' in them.

It's a pet peeve..

How are they (you) supposed to learn if no one ever says anything?

It is valuable... annoying thread titles are the worst. :argue:

To get the thread back on track, lol, I'd say if you can, have them both.

I have GTR, GTL, GTR2 and rfactor and IMO they are all great games in their own right.

As you're asking about rfactor, it's well worth purchasing. It has some great tracks, some superb MOD's (Australian v8's, Porsche Carrera's, Renault Megane's and Clio's, F1, A1GP, GP2 to name but a few) and the gameplay/handling is what you'd expect from top notch sim. Online play is also great fun.

There is one neat feature where you can let AI cars practice circuits and learn the best driving lines and see their times improve as they learn the tracks, which results in them giving you competitive races, if you prefer the offline side of racing.

I believe the latest version to look for is v1.150

Now that is useful information  I have been pondering whether or not to activate my rFactor download. The demo bits definately showed promise but facts like that definately swing the balance in favour of biting the bullet, paying up and finding out how good the sim actually is. I am an F1 enthusiast, I have GTR, GTL, and GTR2 and they have rather taken the joy out of Geoff Crammonds GP4 which is showing its age. I guess I'll be getting a Chrismas present from myself. ;) Thanx Daz.

Good question. No I haven't, do you think it will renew my passion? I sort of lost interest before I knew what a mod was. I'd been driving GP4 since the day it came out in 2002 and I've only been on the internet a very short time. I downloaded a lot of mods for GP4 but I only tried one or two before I started adding to GTR and then GTR2 came out and the rest is history as they say.

Perhaps I'll give it a try, now I've got a better idea of how to add things to one's games perhaps I'll be able to make GP4 a kickass sim again.

Both Games Have Their Good And Bad Points.
Its Just A Matter Of Trying Both And Then Deciding Which One You Like The Best.
